Lego Mario next set has leaked and it’s a massive airship

The Lego Super Mario Bowser’s Airship was discovered on Amazon Australia yesterday and has since been pulled, but not before 9 to 5 Toys and Twitter users saved the images.

Like the other Lego Super Mario expansion sets, Bowser’s Airship is designed to accompany the Starter Course. As such, it doesn’t come with the electronic Mario or Luigi figures needed to ‘play’ the course.

Bowser’s Airship contains 1,152 pieces and comes in a folding design that lets you display it as either a standard airship, or a longer stage-like design.

The build is noticeably larger than many other Lego Super Mario sets: when it’s fully unfolded, Bowser’s Airship measures 14 inches long.

As well as the airship itself, players can build a Magikoopa, a Pirate Goomba, a Rocky Wrench (the enemies that pop out of manholes and throw spanners) and a cannon that launches characters.

Yeah dats gonna be primo price level. Great.
Yup, and my first reaction was "that's neat". Gotta be more than just "that's neat" to get me to shell (hehe) out for this. Wouldn't mind having the Magikoopa, Rocky Wrench and that totes cute Pirate Goomba to go with the rest of my Lego Mario baddies but the ship itself is just ok.

I never got the appeal to Lego.

Action Figures have always shat all over them.

Star Wars, GI Joes, Aliens, Terminator, Jurassic Park, Spawn, etc.

Why would I want a bunch of sharp shitty blocks with ugly ass shapes when I can get something actually cool?

Only a twat with no imagination would say that

lol I'm an artist, I have tons of imagination. Precisely why I enjoyed well designed toys that look cool and not these ugly sharp edged neon colored vomit.

Lego just sucks. Can't suspend my disbelief with those ugly, yellow, hook handed pieces of shit.

I don't hate Lego, i actually like the small pieces because they allow you to do detailed stuff.

But Mario Lego is hideous. Large, plastic pieces that look like some other toy. Mario himself is a huge. That's not Lego.

You list Jurassic park action figures so that dates you past the golden era of toys, and the fact that the rest are movie franchises would suggest you were brought up by a VCR.

Ugly blocks, damn how did Minecraft get so big? You don't have imagination, you have recreation.

I don’t understand the fascination with Lego.
Do you have any hobbies?

“I’m an artist” 😂

Also I hope people are ironical asking what the fascination with legos are. Imagination is endless just watching what kids and adults can build with these:

After the minecraft lineup was a success I think Lego understood that with videogame partnerships they can make the cheapest and laziest sets possible and just charge double.

Explain the humor, thanks.

I'll let you do that yourself.

Maybe if you had played with "a bunch of sharp shitty blocks with ugly ass shapes" you'd have learned how to pixel art.

I’ve probably got $20k+ of Lego including obviously the NES.

But the Mario lego has never done a single thing for me, and the only sets I see end up even discounted to move them in shops before discontinued which you never see.

They would of done far better with regular mini fig sized characters and without the dumb game shit. They really missed the mark with this, very rare for them.

You linked to some of my doodles, still waiting for you to explain what's funny about someone telling me I have no imagination and I tell them I'm an artist.

Waiting for the punchline here.

Why? I mean there are people who interested in DnD, Yugioh /pokemon cards.

Lego:
1. fun
2. durable
2. you actually own something (lol)
3. creativity
But those examples are just opportunities to socialise - trading cards, playing DnD. Lego, do you play with your friends?

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

you dont need to, not everything need to be socialize. Just like how I enjoy single player games.
A good hobby is a good hobby.

My mum sent me to the shops - I'm a Personal Shopper
I cooked at home - I'm a chef
I used a level editor in a game - I'm a Game Designer
I played football with my friends - I'm an Athlete
I painted a wall in my home - I'm an interior designer
I mowed the lawn - I'm a landscape gardener
I make shitty anime style art not good enough to be in a shovelware indie game clogging up the digital store fronts - I'm an artist.

Yeah dude, I totally have no idea how to draw.

I'm not an artist, I'm wrong. I was lying when I said I was an artist.

Sorry I hurt your pussy criticizing Lego. Way to spend the time finding an old post of mine in a lame attempt at a gotcha, bud.

I'm still an artist with an imagination and I still don't like Lego. Cry about it.

I got one of my kids Mario left for Christmas. I’ve never been into lego, but now since having to put these things together just to watch the kids destroy them after I straight up want to buy these again just for myself. Lol

This is how I feel about that line, too. I like both Lego and Mario, but this doesn't really do much for me, in part because I don't really understand the appeal of the playability features in these sets. Seems gimmicky to me, like something you would try out for a day and then move on.
I must say that I would definitely have preferred "regular" sets with standard minifigs, akin to what Koruit has released:

Lego has changed with these sets, they are one and done builds. Big buckets of bricks serve the creation and playability of old Lego.

It's still there in general although there are more specialty pieces in general now. My son is 5 and he started with small legos at 3 years old and he has a huge box mixed together from all his sets and he builds tons of custom stuff with them.

I think mario lego is more about playing and not so much building.

That looks like shit. People like that? It looks like a playskool level lego for children under 5. Honestly the mario sets are some of if not the worst sets I've ever seen. Star wars, batman, harry potter all blow these out of the water.
The sets are clearly destined at people that grew up with Nintendo and now have kids. Nostalgia + bonding with your children = $$$. I’m sorry you are not the target audience.

Because hoarding aka collecting mini figs is not gimmicky?

Not any more than collecting anything else, I'd wager. I think that these playfeatures fall into a weird crack between not being quite as creative and open as regular Legos, and not being clear-cut and defined enough to be its own playstyle. Compared to, say, some Ninjago sets that pretty much combine into a big board game that you can actually play. This Lego Mario line just seems to be neither.
