ToA is trounching ToB on steam, love it.Safe to say TOA is performing within the expectations in Japan selling at least around TOB with digital sales. On Steam, on the other hand, is a different beast.

Remember that over 70% of worldwide PS game sales are digital. So who knows, maybe including digital sales the game even had the best debut in Japan ever seen in the series.Disappointing physical sales for tales in Japan:. What are PlayStation fans playing in Japan? These established Japanese series games are better than ever but the sales continue to disappoint
Whatever I suppose the rest of the world will have to pick up the slack yet again.
Tales of Arise shipments and digital sales top one million
Total worldwide shipments and digital sales for Tales of Arise have surpassed one million units, making it the fastest selling title of the franchise, Bandai Namco announced. Total shipments for th…www.gematsu.com
Pretty likely Namco's Japanese sales increased from 2019 to 2020 and 2021, but the percent of them that are digital increased faster than before due to covid as happened for the other companies. Not sure if they share IR stuff with their worldwide annual sales or revenue for gaming but I think it may offer a clue.Overall a very interesting situation to follow into 2022, especially as we've seen the type of results they can achieve in Japan in the near past, honestly a company of their size should be selling over 3.5 million software per year in Japan during the last few years of growth thanks to the Switch.

Source? Worldwide there has been a big consoles to mobile switch, but in Japan it has been bigger than in the other main console markets. This and having little houses would lead to think it's the opposite.Digital in Japan is far smaller % compared to RotW,
Yes, and In Asia or Japan in particular most of the game revenue comes from F2P digital only games, most of them for mobile. The 70% you mention earlier in your post includes huge GaaS or annual multiplayer games that in the West are having over 50% digital
Thanks! Most companies had this year (FY2022, so mostly 2021) a small decline YoY because last year (FY2021, so mostly 2020) had a huge spike growing a lot YoY (vs FY2020, so mostly 2019) due to covid lockdowns. So as I said, having 2020 and 2021 numbers higher than the 2019 ones.

As long as they don't bring the drama and toxicity over here. Our threads have been pretty cozy imo.I see the era Japan thread has a civil war. All refugees welcome.
Damn resetera sales threads are going down in flames. Everybody has left it seems. It was getting old lurking there anyway.

What? What's happening over there?I see the era Japan thread has a civil war. All refugees welcome.
The links you listed are for GEO's buyback prices. That is how much they will give you if you sell your copy of the game to them. The prices that they sell them for will obviously be higher than that.Digital in Japan is far smaller % compared to RotW,
Unlike Western countries, you can buy a second hand physical copy of game for the PS4 for very low prices. For example a copy of Scarlet Nexus is Y3,000 right now(https://buy.geo-online.co.jp/search_item/detail/5131360) or Resident Evil: Village could be bought for Y2,300... Hell even Tales of Arise on the PS5 can be found for Y3,600 one week after launch (https://buy.geo-online.co.jp/search_item/detail/5161908)
PSN digital discounts can't compete with second hand pricing in Japan and that's the reason most games that aren't supply constrained at launch have 20-30% digital lifetime sales
The 70% you mention earlier in your post includes huge GaaS or annual multiplayer games that in the West are having over 50% digital, but even in Japan a game like is over 70% physical because players might choose to re-sell it later - right now GEO is selling a PS5 version of last year's COD for Y3,300(https://buy.geo-online.co.jp/search_item/detail/5161006).
Also it includes digital only games that inflate the total number, for example Nintendo doesn't count a game like Thief Simulator in it's WW totals because it's digital only and costs a few dollars when on sales compared to something like Sakuna which has made most of it's 1 million sales at full price.

Hmm they did try different enough with this Tales release, it would suck if the sales is only satisfactory.
Welcoming the worst of the worst Nintendo fanboys? No thanks.I see the era Japan thread has a civil war. All refugees welcome.
What’s happening and I heard Chris got banned, what for? Seem my company has block ResetEra for inappropriate content and I can’t lurk there!I see the era Japan thread has a civil war. All refugees welcome.
He gets 1 day banned period after having an argument with a mod. The mod then proceeds to post a new guideline for MC thread that makes many regular members there displeased with the mod action after unjustifiably banned Chris which led to massive ban spree to regular members as well. It was stated that Chris and several members there won't return to era permanently. What’s happening and I heard Chris got banned, what for? Thanks for info, not surprised about the mods there! He gets 1 day banned period after having an argument with a mod. Things get heated up again after one of the community members on discord revealed the ban was orchestrated by the mod himself and he was seen mocking Chris even before the argument. Then the admin decided to lock the thread and waiting for the mod(Cvxfreak) to respond with an explanation regarding the issue in MC.
Looks like the best graph maker on MC thread is bailing out as well. Thanks for info, not surprised about the mods there!
No please noI see the era Japan thread has a civil war. All refugees welcome.

We can expect mass exodus of sales-era and nintendo-era from this fiasco.Ahahahahahahahahaha, what a shitshow. The MediaCreate thread burn down was fucking glorious.
God damn us Sony fans. Always ruining the Nintendo weekly jerk off in Japan!Sony fanboys getting so butthurt over Nintendo's domination in Japan they destroy the sales community in their shit forum is honestly the funniest thing I've heard in a while, everytime I think these people can't be more pathetic they manage to surprise me.
Hiska-kun gone too, damn. Wonder where both of the go they are very informative. Seriously surprised both them lasted that long there.Looks like the best graph maker on MC thread is bailing out as well.
I hate discord. Hope we get a sales dedicated forum (or its back to VGChartz )
NeoGAF is still ok. Hopefully that stuff won't be brought here..Era mods killed lots of community's since last year
They started with wrestling era then Asian era
After that they killed xbox era and pc steam era now Nintendo era joined the list
And im 100% sure sony era will be the next target
They're slowly starting the campaign by trying to shit on every Insomniac games thread
By some users who spams about the mistreatment of the women employ who worked in the company
And they also try to bring that Rivet design topic every time
And they also tried to shit on that wolverine teaser trailer thread same with spider man 2 thread
Anyway I think resetera will be dead soon
And every community will move to there own discord group
The age of old internet forums will end soon
And the discord era will begin
I'm lubed and ready to go. Sign me up!I also can't stand Discord, and Chris has stated his dislike for it as well. Celine just posted her goodbye as well in the "Nintendo software and hardware sales date from 1983 to present" thread.
Let's hope they all come together and create as you suggested a sales dedicated forum.
Nintendo has a 33 months straight NPD winning streak with Switch. It would be safe to say they’re dominating North America aswell as JapanSony fanboys getting so butthurt over Nintendo's domination in Japan they destroy the sales community in their shit forum is honestly the funniest thing I've heard in a while, everytime I think these people can't be more pathetic they manage to surprise me.
