Since op opened the topic i'm gonna ask advice for horror movies with big aquatic animals of any kind or just movies with monsters, mutated beasts or big ass animals.

I'm a sucker for well made creatures.

not horror, but maybe you'll find something interesting. the movies I got with creatures:

alien: covenant (aliens)
aliens (aliens)
district 9 (prawn aliens)
dusk till dawn (vampires, salma hayek)
avatar 1 and 2 (blue humanoid cats)
the last 3 planet of the apes movies (talking apes)
godzilla, godzilla: king of the monsters, godzilla vs kong
king kong (peter jackson one) and kong: skull island (giant apes, dinosaurs, huge bugs)
hobbit trilogy and lord of the rings trilogy (orcs, flying screaming things, giant spider, dragon)
hellboy 2 (red demon, agile fish humanoid, trolls, elfs)
jurassic park movies (dinosaurs)
the mask (green face guy on cocaine)
pacific rim (giant alien creatures that exit a portal from another dimension deep underwater)
pans laybrinth (that cat thing with horns, pale creature with eyes on hand)
last two ninja turtles movie (humanoid turtles/rat, krang that looks like a brain, rhino and pig humanoid)

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
You might be tempted (like I was) to get high and watch this movie

Already saw all of them.

I was just hoping for some less mainstream advice and more horror oriented tbh.

Overlord from 2018 was a pretty good flick.

It tapped into a lot of things that I like as a premise for a horror flick.

Don't watch this unless you want to feel stupid and hoodwinked. It has the worst ass pull of an ending ever.

While not everyone will like the ending, it's still worth it for how brutal it is. The house scene at the beginning was great. I'd recommend most Alexandre Aja movies, they all have some great gore scenes.

Ready or Not - Recently watched this and it was pretty damn good.
The Black Phone - Fantastic atmosphere, loved it.
Session 9 - Great atmosphere, slow burn
Pandorum - It's pretty much Dead Space the movie

The closest we've gotten so far to a Wolfenstein film. Opening was fantastic, and whilst the rest wasn't quite as good, still well worth watching.

I loved it until the ending. It literally ruined the entire film for me and a great many others.

I recommend checking out Asian horror. It’s definitely more varied and does more than the usual jumpscare and scary loud noises.
I've seen Pulse and a couple Asian found footage horror movies I really liked, like Noroi, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, and another really good one that for the life of me, I can't track down the name of. It was about a documentary film crew following a guy who's supposedly communicating with an alternate dimension that convinces him it's morally right to carry out a terrorist attack, only to find:
it was a demonic entity talking to him that traps him in a kind of hell for eternity after carrying it out

Got any other good ones?

Edit: I found it! It's "Occult" 2009, and the whole thing's on Youtube. Worth a watch, imo:

Pee Mak sounds interesting--I like tonal shifts like that since it can make the enjoyable aspects of both stronger by contrast.

Edit: Oh, and "Kairo" is "Pulse", apparently.

No worries

Most of the movies I was going to recommend were already posted, so here's a couple more : Grave Encounters (Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is a rip-off of this movie) and Hell House.

I'll update this thread every now and then. For those that still like horror movies even in the cheery Christmas time, this is for you.

New recommendations:

Hell House LLC Origins
Pearl
X
Clown
Stitches
All hallows eve
Terrifier 1 & 2
The black phone
Skinamarink
Talk to me
The invisible man

I picked up the 4K blu ray of The People Under the Stairs, from 1991. Watched it tonight with the kids.

Didn't age as well as I would have liked. Still a good movie, just not very scary.
Ordered this movie today. I remember renting it on VHS in the 90’s. I don’t think I found it scary but it seemed like a creepy/semi realistic premise. Crazy siblings being foster parents and murdering/abusing them in creepy ass ways. I lived in near Detroit for 4 years and would drive by one nice house with abandoned house all around them. Instantly thought of this movie! 😄

I have a few good horror movie recs.

Firstly, you should watch The Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police. They're both awesome and crazy-ass movies(TGP DOES contain A LOT OF FUCKED UP STUFF, so......if you don't like mutations and other stuff, then this TGP might not be the best rec). Both Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police are actually streaming for free on Tubi with NO NEED to sign up.

The Ring(ESPECIALLY the Japanese original) is also good.

Any part of the Chucky franchise is good.

I would also recommend the Five Nights At Freddy's movie!

Dude your movie recommendations are always so on-point. I really need to start writing the ones I haven’t seen down. I’d love to see your streaming history. Probably.

Cobweb 2023 is excellent. It starts like a kiddy horror movie, but it gets extremely dark. It really surprised me at how fucked up it was. It has a great performance from the lead child actor and also stars Homelander.
