So because someone built a bridge or left a ladder or a bike behind to make traversal easier, the player will start contemplating “connection”? I think that's expecting too much from a video game. Most players will either simply see these things as a means to an end or an annoyance because it makes the game easier (or misleads them). I can't really see someone sitting there and thinking deeply about a ladder, which may or may not be there the next time they boot up the game, and getting philosophical about connections.I don't think this is the goal at all. Kojima say he wants people to THINK about connection, not to necessarily bring people together. Its a broad statement that is left open-ended. It's meant for the individual player to interpret and take from it what they will.
Your reaction to it is symptomatic of a closed mind, and for that, you may not get much from the game at all in terms of it's message.
