GOG News and Updates 2011

I have quite a lot of 2D platformers so I'll skip Earthworm Jim. Both Freespace 2 and Decent look cool, I'll have to flip a coin to decide which one to get.

So is there any evidence that there will be more publisher sales starting tomorrow?
I'd like to know this as well. And at what time (EST) does the Interplay sale ends?

Edit: Nevermind, July 4 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

It's starting to look like they didn't want to release any of the rest of the bigger EA titles during Steam's summer sale.

Today's new release is a Cryo Interactive game I never heard of, in the vein of Myst I suppose, Atlantis: The Lost Tales.

Atlantis is awesome. I still have the Cds but I had trouble running it on Xp so I'll buy it from GOG.
I remember it having really satisfing puzzles and great pacing. I hope Atlantis 2 is next. Unlike the first, it has brutal puzzles (but always logical) and some of the best music in an adventure game.

I think there are a third and fourth game but I've never played them...

Just completed
Junktown
in Fallout. Really digging the game so far.

Couple questions, though:

1) Do I have any reason to explore the Wasteland, like I did in Fallout 3 and New Vegas? Any new items or quests? So far, I haven't really seen much of any value out there in the desert.

2) My PIP-boy says that I have 120 days to find water. This number is making me nervous, as it's easy to go through a day or two just by resting.

Just noticed Vampire Bloodlines is on dotemu now, gog can't be far behind. Although the game is still 20 euros on dotemu hehehe (same as steam I think).

1) None whatsoever, though if you have high luck, you can find a couple random encounters just going from point A to point B that will be fun. I always played it just following where the quests lead me.

2) You can double your # of days with a little money in one of the first towns you go to, through talking to someone there, other than that, even without doubling it, it's a pretty easy thing to do, I wouldn't worry until you hit under 50 days, but do make an attempt to progress the plot for finding it.

Bought Descent 1 & 2 during the Interplay sale because i never played those games before and man i'm glad i did, it's Doom with 360º movement which makes for some really interesting combat situations, i don't think i have played something like that before. So yeah i'd recommend it to anyone who likes shooters.

Thanks, man. You've been super helpful this whole time. I just experienced one of those random encounters you were talking about. I
found a traveling caravan on my way to the Hub and decided to join up with them and head straight to the Boneyard. I recruited a new member there, as well as acquired the Holodisk from the Blades. But I realized I can't really do much else here because the Deathclaws to the East are badass motherfuckers and at my current level I can't do much to them.
My question is: Can I hold off on completing the quests I've accepted here until later in the game or will they "expire"?

You can hold off.

I remember playing Theme park and RCT as a kid. Liked Theme Park more back then. Think it had something to do with the fact that I could actually ride the rides. Can't remember if RCT had it. If it has, I'll be buying this first one and not wait 'til the latter ones.

Way of extending the deadline:

Find the water merchants in The Hub, you can extend the deadline through caravan deliveries.

Out of fucking nowhere.

I'll be picking it up...once they release RCT2.

RCT2 and it's expansions are on D2D, just checked, should help increase the chances of it making it to GOG, but if you don't want to wait, at least you can pick it up now!

Great news seeing this classic sim resurface.

No joke, I've been trying to find my old RCT disc for weeks after an older thread here reminded me of it. I think I tossed it. :( So this is fantastic! Downloading now.

PFffft. RCT 1 > RCT2/3.

Also this thread popping up let met check out the requirements. I don't ever recall RCT1 in 1999 needing 512 Meg RAM and some other beefy upgrades to run. I guess the GoG "native" code requires that, but geez. The beauty of RCT1 was that it was built in ASSEMBLY ONLY. To where having a monster PC wasn't really needed.

Welcome to 1995. The game that made me get into PC gaming. :) Now, if only you and everyone else played it back then/bought it today and enjoyed it enough to where every Voliton thread was "WHERE THE HELL IS MY DESCENT 4, VOLITION!? YOU SAID THERE WAS DESCENT 4!" instead of their crappy Red Faction, we'd (AKA: ME!) would be in business. >_>

I think they state the requirements are higher, to avoid people filing tickets if it doesn't work perfectly. Think it works fine with the original requirements.

daily deals for the next 2 1/2 weeks? ugh here's hoping I own most everything already >_>

Oh, you bastards (er, not you, graywolf; I mean GoG!). Just when the end of the Steam Sale is in sight, this crops up. Now I'm probably going to spend way more money...

Finally RCT. I always figured they'd be out sooner since the game is Atari owned... but hey, it's here now.

Hopefully RCT2 comes soon.

Never heard of dotemu... is it similar to GOG in the way the games work and install?
yeah, it's the same as gog (in that the games are free from drm). but less slick. and they don't have as many bonus extras usually. or it doesn't seem like a focus to them to add extras. also, no fixed pricing like gog. so you get stuff like 20 dollar vampire bloodlines.

some of their emulated stuff is on gog also.

Been years since i've played either, but wasn't RCT2 essentially a tweaked and improved RCT1?

Yes, with none of the charm.

It looks like they're going to be having a daily hidden gem from tomorrow until July 25th and each day the promoted item will be 60% off. How hidden of a gem do you think Divine Divinity is?

Get ready for Summer Hidden Gem Promos

Hopefully you have managed to refill your "gaming change bank" to take advantage of our next round of incredible deals.

Starting from tomorrow we'll be offering special one-day promos on some of GOG.com's "hidden" gems. These quick promos will be made in a similar way to our usual "GOG.com Gems Promo" that we've been running for some time now. Just like the Wednesday promos, we're going to highlight some of the lesser known classics in our catalogue. With this newspost we're giving you a heads-up that you should check back GOG.com every day until 25th of July. We'll be offering all of the hidden gems of this promo for sale at 60% off, so keep your eyes peeled so you don't miss out on a great deal for a game you've been waiting to buy for months. The first "Summer Hidden Gem" will be revealed tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. EDT (10:00 a.m. GMT)! Be there or be square! ;)

RCT?! This is GREAT news!
There was a threat on here like 2 weeks ago about how they have to have RCT1 soon.

Will buy asap.

Now, Developers, make this a Chrome game STAT.

Man, RCT is certainly not a trackpad game. Way too slow for juggling roller coaster construction and park management. I remember being insanely good at this when I was 12, and I'd probably have to invest crazy hours to be that good again.

Sounds hot. Is that supposed to be the equivalent to Steam's summer sale or is there another sellout like the Interplay one incoming?

I'm not complaining though, if it's a Planescape: Torment or an Icewind Dale selling on the cheap for a day I'm totally in.

Same. $10 and below is Steam sale territory already so I just pick stuff up at launch.
