It depends of how long you have had PS+.
Someone whom have had it since 2010 will have like +700 ps+ games for psp/vita/ps3/ps4/ps5. (no, the point isnt to invent a time machine to do this, the point is that ps+ adds to hundreds of games too after few years)
So you basically say, that gamepass is waste of money, unless you really want to discover +500 games? I agree.
Average gamer plays only few games / year, so what does gamepass add to them, other than costing more than buying 1-3 games/year?
It is like there would be an offer of "get 500 different phone cases for only 180€ / year!" but 95% of those cases would not fit your phone model. (or your taste in the gamepass)
quality > quantity.
Also most of those +2 year old games are already super cheap anyway, at least on playstation. So you can get like 20 games for 100€ with some patience.
Kind of pointless to argue about gamepass as in "it is the best / it is the worst!" style. Because to some it is the best, and to some it is over priced and completely useless. Anyone whom claims that it is purely one of those, is just plain wrong.
I'm planning to get series x for 400€ (used ones are already dropped to those numbers from time to time), and then few games.
Why would I pay for gold / pass when there is only 1-5 games I want to play, and xbox games get discounted super fast as it is so much less popular than Playstation? For price of gold+gamepass I can probably get 20-30 physical games from sales or used ones. And most likely gamepass wont even have the games I want to get.
I have to disagree with you here.
Quality doesnt beat quantity.
Cyberpunk2077, and all those buggy release games defeats your argument.
Playstation games are cheap too after 1-2 year. So your point is moot.
In business, its better to not understimate shit, because you are highly confidient certain product is useless.
Best example is tiktok. Its popular, because general audience use it. That is what gamepass is for. General audience. Its MS is targeting.
Look at xbox pc. It has xcloud, which you can play xbox gamepass games.
Whhere is the limit for gamepass in this case? You dont even need to buy the console. unlike ps5, which you need to buy it, to play those high quality games you are talking about.
There is also the pandemic that is still going around. Having gamepass library games is perfect in this case. 15$ to play those games, is much better value, than buying it individual.
At the end of the day, its the general audience who buy games, not hardcore players. Hardcore players are stingy, and only want certain games. Playstation wont survive with those people.
