Looks like a mix of the Index and Q2 controllers.
They already said it isn't coming this yearI believe it will launch in holiday... this year.
Did you ever play Wipeout on psvr pro? It's one of the only games that shows off its potential in terms of clarity.
Most of the problem was the ps4, not the headset. There were only a couple of games that maxed out the headset resolution and supersampling. Even many stylized games weren't supersampling to max. Having the headset resolution higher will absolutely help tremendously too, especially paired with ps5.
They said before it would not launch in 2021, so I'm expecting March 2022.I believe it will launch in holiday... this year.
You mean that awsome big fat tower PS5 designe Yep I see that tokThe design is so awesome.
Sony is doing the best in design term this gen... I’m impressed.
Not exactly sure what that means. How so?
Didn't Jim Ryan say specifically, that it won't launch this year?I believe it will launch in holiday... this year.
Yeah I tried that, and it looked way better, as you say. I'd just attributed it to it being another stylised game tbh, had no idea that many games were sub native.
With stuff like GT Sport, it was looking off into the distance that really killed the effect. It was really just a blur of pixels. It was an odd effect. People say VR is like "being there" but with the tech available to PSVR that really meant being in an old game, not something that you could mistake for reality. Like, I actually found RE7 less scary in VR than on a screen, because for me there was just less immersion because of the extremely unconvincing graphics.
Overall I thought VR was extremely cool tech, but just a generation or 2 away from really being able to transport you to these new worlds. Hopefully the new PS5 version will take us most of the way.
My guess is Fall 2022. They just sent out dev kits and I would figure devs will need around 18 months to get games ready for launch.Sooner then I expected! PSVR2 is probably releasing early next year.
Yeah but you don't need a shitty Facebook account, this could be made of cardboard glued together with dogshit and it would automatically be better due to that! They look like bootleg oculus touch controllers.
They are Oculus controllers....but they look cooler. Nice.
The most important part is the tracking though. Hopefully Sony have absolutely nailed inside out tracking. So far only Oculus has managed to.
How so?
Not exactly sure what that means.
Take a look at an Oculus controller and you'll see what I mean.
Yeah if it's a AAA game, psvr was definitely going to struggle rendering that at an acceptable resolution, especially base ps4. Pro actually fared a bit better in many cases.
That's unusual about RE7 VR because I stopped demoing it to people because of their fear, yet them trying it on my TV those same people were completely fine. I actually had someone fling the psvr off their head but I luckily caught it.
Google inside-out tracking. Its cool and much better than outside-in tracking that PSVR uses. What does this mean actually? I move the head, so controller will move my hand in that direction?
Yes. This will be completely next gen. New console, headset, controllers. New PS5 VR games. Actual generational leap.Does this mean I need a new headset to use these controllers?
I was hoping to use my PSVR 1 with these for a while before upgrading.
Does this mean I need a new headset to use these controllers?Wohoo looks cool! Also the controllers are tracked by the headset! Big!
I think the tracking won't be made through a camera:Looks like what they should've released in the first place.
For all its faults (and there were a lot) I enjoyed PS VR as the budget VR experience. If they can give me a wireless headset and controllers, none of which rely on sticking a camera on top of my TV, I'm probably back in.
I should qualify that: the jump scares were worse in VR. Anything up close to your face was nasty.
But the general atmosphere of dread I found less intense, and that's mostly what scared me about that game.
I think the tracking won't be made through a camera:
Tracking: The VR controller is tracked by the new VR headset through a tracking ring across the bottom of the controller.

And the headset won't be wireless:
It will connect to PS5 with a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use, while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience.

Which Oculus : Rift, Touch, Ques???
These are Touch controllers :
These are Quest :
Not exactly the same as PSVR 2 controllers. Still has some own unique look
maybe in bundle with gt7 or half life alyxSooner then I expected! PSVR2 is probably releasing early next year.
They all have the exact same layout. Sony was smart to copy the Oculus design. It has pretty much become the standard VR controller design/layout at this point. The only difference is the style of the tracking ring.
It is basically confirmed in description. But we will see will tracking be precise. And also, Finger Touch. Basically this one :That's all we know so far. Hopefully there's no camera for tracking and it's completely inside-out tracking .... and hopefully the tracking is good.
Playing it in VR just felt like the only way I could get into any of the atmosphere. I'd pull the headset and try and it felt like game lost all its soul. Everyone is different though, I literally had people that couldn't make it to the house in VR with zero jump scares.

Quest 2 tracking is so good it's like magic. Window mixed reality headsets also have inside out tracking and it's ... not as good.
Inside-out tracking is still a difficult problem and there's no guarantee that Sony has nailed it. Hopefully they have.
It sounds like this new PSVR2 will be exactly that.Yeah wireless was probably a bit of a stretch, I think I'd be okay with a one wire setup if there was no camera and better controllers.
Just the headset, headphones, and these new controllers.
Finger touch detection: The controller can detect your fingers without any pressing in the areas where you place your thumb, index, or middle fingers. This enables you to make more natural gestures with your hands during gameplay.
I don't understand this. Does it track your gestures in the air? It also got me thinking, why hasn't anyone built Leap Motion hand tracking into a controller orb?
No excuses this gen for not having full fat vr games. Especially driving.
I think I will too, it will depend more on the hardware itself (no more blurry games, please!). One cord may be good enough as of now.Yeah wireless was probably a bit of a stretch, I think I'd be okay with a one wire setup if there was no camera and better controllers.
The triggers and vibration will be better, judging by Dualsense.Which Oculus : Rift, Touch, Ques???

Yeah maybe this will have speakers too, but I would want to use headphone anyways. But considering the PS5's Tempest 3D audio thing requires headphones.. my bet is PS5 VR games will too. And building in speakers adds cost and weight that could be avoided with just adding a headphone jack. They'll probably just throw a pair of wired earbuds in box like they do with current PSVR. I assume they'll promote this new PSVR headset as working great with Sony's PS5 Pulse headset, shit like that.Quest 2 doesn't even need headphones. It's speakers are amazing.
Basically this one :
Pretty cool looking. But all this hardware shouldn't be announced without any software showcase. Whether or not the PSVR 2 games in the headset make me want to puke or not will get me fully interested.
Even you don't like the design I don't see how anyone can say Sony hasn't been on point with a very unique aesthetic across their entire PS5 product line, even including the UI. Their branding department is killing it this gen.
Looks great plugged in next to my apartment.
