Elon Musk wants to include a small monthly service fee for using X, which could help fight off bot operations

It's too bad. I used to value Twitter a great deal back before Elon got involved. There was some great breaking news there. And believe it or not it was great for weather forecasting. There's no way people will pay for Twitter.
Same but its almost comical how much he seems to be trying to kill it with bad ideas I almost wonder if he's deliberately trying to kill it as a massive tax write off or something. As soon as threads adds the ability to search topics (not just usernames) and trending topics Twitter is dead.

The way he's fucked up Twitter is really starting to bite.

Click on a trending hashtag now and you get endless amounts of spam. making it virtually unusable, if you want to look into a popular topic or news story. He's the one responsible for the vast increase in bots and spam.

Asking people to pay will kill it completely.

My fantasy is that my girlfriend was actually a young high school girl.
If u start charging people for twitter, there will only be bots left, Elon.

Yes. The spambot excuse is misdirection. X is bleeding money in debt repayments and he needs additional revenue streams to keep it afloat.
It doesn't help they have all but given up trying to get rid of bots because the new accounts they make and posts they make fluff up the meaningless metrics that he jerks out of his ass.

Pretty much. This man is talking out of his ass pretending to care about bot spamming. Twitter is bleeding money and he is desperate to find ways to have a return on his investment.

That'll be the last straw for me, tbh i've been thinking of deleting Twitter for some time, any sort of payment requirement just to access it is game over for me.

Cant Twitter or any other social site just have algorithms that block spam/bots? Like Gmail. I get hardly any spam in my inbox because it's smart enough to categorize junk email right off the bat. If any sneak through, they eventually label them junk too if enough people block or report spam.

I get the gist social sites dont really care though because they need bots because it adds to the user count.

But IMO a fee would do wonders. It's like dating sites. Sign up for free ones and you get endless junkie users and people spamming sites. Do a paid one where you cant really do anything unless you sign up for a membership of $20/month and you realize all the people on the site are more professional looking, look like they seriously are looking for a partner and you'll see no junk from people posting to escort sites, hoping they check out their instagram account, etc.... You get users who truly want to use the service in a serious and mature way.
A fee wouldn't do anything other than kill the site.

99% of people are not paying a monthly fee to simply access Twitter. It's just not going to happen.

Ugh, no. No one is as addicted to twitter as Elon who is a desperate fool at this point. He'll probably say that he'll having a dating platform that won't be shit just like all of his other ideas like video streaming.

Twitter is done, and will become extremely niche now. It will be out of pop culture, and bankruptcy is the only next step.

Elon wants you to use X for banking...but now you need to pay to use the app.

I agree. Fuck these bots. If you can't pay $5 a month then shut the fuck up and go cry somewhere else. This would weed out all the fucking morons who do nothing but complain because their lives are miserable and they feed of negativity.

Banks already do that by taking the interest earned by my bank account.

Elon doing God's work by destroying Twitter. Now we just need to find a way so he can run the rest of the social media sites into the ground.

and what does twitter matter for his wealth? hes a megabillionaire long before twitter and will be regardless. Elon haters are cringe

We don't "hate" Elon Musk. Most of us were hopeful for him taking over Twitter... That he wouldn't rock the boat too much and maybe elevate things. He's done the opposite. He's said and done things that just show he is a raging narcissist and tanking the platform.

Don't get all defensive mate, this is your logic. You said he can't be a dumbass because he's rich. Buying Twitter gave him negative richness, so he is 1/6 more a dumbass now than he was this time last year.

Dude, it's beyond Redditor conspiracy theorists (and beyond obvious) that this dude is just intentionally fucking with the user base and self sabotaging, probably in some billionaire version of performance art or a self proclaimed blow to social media interfering with and steering free speech. I'm not saying the dude is a genius, but he certainly is within the threshold of "rich enough to do high stakes trolling,"
