So then just keep the bots and let us block them. Oh wait, he disabled the fucking block feature too.

These ultra billionaires just keep creating more subscriptions for us to pay for.

Another ~$300 million quarterly payment on his buyout debt in little over a month. Totaling another billion from interest so far he's paid to flush away Tweets for Xcrements.
He might want to keep the bird shit around for another year. Although it would be glorious chaos if X goes bankrupt and closes down before 2024.

The only way he can think of to combat bots is to attack the wallets of the non bots. Makes sense.

I'm hearing it is that it's going to have a two-tier premium system and that there will be a lower charge for the lower tier but you will still be able to tweet for free.

If that's true, people are taking all of this out of context.

Wasn't there something floating around about how certain ISPs would charge you extra for an internet package that allows you to visit certain websites and blocks others, similar to cable packages? I believe they were floating that idea around, but that seems stupid. VPNs and other methods could probably unblock that.

I think this would kill the platform. I go on twitter at least once a day, but no way in hell am I paying for it. I don't even post there I just use it for news and opinions.

I realized I still had an active account. I went ahead and deleted it. gg. The less social media, the better.

Lol it’s crazy that people think paying for a service you use is beyond the pale.

It is when the model for all social media is free. If it has more than what it does (discounts on food orders, 2 day free shipping, etc), then I can see paying for it. But as it stands... It doesn't offer much more than what Reddit does. Or telegram. Or Facebook. Or Instagram.

if social media is free then you are the product

What a fucking retard. "The only way I can think of to combat armies of bots"....Twitter doesn't even require phone verification at present. How about introducing the most rudimentary of verification steps before spewing this utter nonsense you pathetic venture capitalist with no creative ability.

Cant Twitter or any other social site just have algorithms that block spam/bots? Like Gmail. I get hardly any spam in my inbox because it's smart enough to categorize junk email right off the bat. If any sneak through, they eventually label them junk too if enough people block or report spam.

I get the gist social sites dont really care though because they need bots because it adds to the user count.

But IMO a fee would do wonders. It's like dating sites. Sign up for free ones and you get endless junkie users and people spamming sites. Do a paid one where you cant really do anything unless you sign up for a membership of $20/month and you realize all the people on the site are more professional looking, look like they seriously are looking for a partner and you'll see no junk from people posting to escort sites, hoping they check out their instagram account, etc.... You get users who truly want to use the service in a serious and mature way.

It's too bad. I used to value Twitter a great deal back before Elon got involved. There was some great breaking news there. And believe it or not it was great for weather forecasting. There's no way people will pay for Twitter.
