The Guardian: Borat 2 imminent, reports suggest, with Trump, Epstein and Giuliani as targets

Film website Collider first broke the news that Borat 2, filmed during the coronavirus pandemic “has already been shot and even screened for a select few industry types”. The site adds that the fame of the first mockumentary means Borat can no longer interview unsuspecting Americans as himself, so is forced to go incognito, with varying degrees of success.

Rumor is that it's planned for release some time between now and Election Day, with at least one stunt being potentially "career-ending" for an unnamed politician.

I enjoyed Who Is America and the idea of Cohen playing Borat playing other characters is conceptually hilarious. Interested to see if it works in execution.

I watched it opening night with a bunch of friends (we were all at uni at the time) in a packed cinema. The entire audience was in hysterics and it was one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had.

I suspect he can't do the character in large groups or crowds anymore, but I'll bet there's a looooot of 60+ year old people who don't know the character at all. I think he could have a lot of success doing one on one interviews with that demographic.

Oh look Borat dressed up in a bad Trump costume and interrupted Pence speaking so funny. Borat wants to get an abortion with a Priest and told them he impregnated his daughter so funny. He is making some jokes with hicks so funny.

Hopefully this is all the worst bits and the movie will actually be funny. Not holding out hope on this though.

I am very skeptical that this is just another political film to rip on the right. Although, I will say the trailer made me feel better about it, but we know how editing goes. I am quite alright with pranking a pastoral doctor and even Mike Pence. Those things were more funny than political.

TBH my biggest concern is the daughter. Watching the trailer she looks like a girl doing a bad impression of Borat, not really someone who grew up in Khazistan. I just feel the comedy is going to be off with her very GhotsBuster 2016.

Making fun of the right might be funny, but Borat dressed in a Trump costume isn't coming off funny or edgy. TBH making fun of the right is kinda passe and really just isn't that edgy or shocking anymore. Ok we get it some right wingers are staunch crusty old men, some are even a bit homophobic or racist. ITs been beaten to death. But maybe thats just me.

I think it would be a lot funnier, and kinda makes sense for him to cozy up to the left. He could point out how most of the stuff they talk about is exactly like in his shitty Kazhakstan.

Hopefully the Pence stuff is only a small part of it and the rest is just more normal regular people from all walks of life. I just hope the daughter angle doesn't ruin it because those parts were really falling flat. Just gotta wonder if her vagine is like a Wizards sleeve ?
