Companies are purchased with honor tokens in Japan and unfortunately for MS they have no honor.
The SE now is just a shadow of what Squaresoft was before the merge. They don't deserve that name.Whoever buys it needs to rename it back to Squaresoft. Dragon Quest alone shouldn’t keep justifying Enix in the name.....
fear of what? i have a PC so whatever MS gets doesn't really affect me, it's just everything MS touch turns to turd so i don't want them to get SE
It’ll be Sony.I doubt it's either MS or Sony. Probably EA or Zenimax and that makes me shudder.
Dragon Quest is already on every platform so I'm not sure I care who owns them.
Nintendo cant even be bothered to buy intelligent systems, I can't see them ever attempting an acquisition like thisNintendo will hopefully throw their hat in the ring too.
The thought of Dragon Quest in the hands of Tencent or EA fills me with horror.
This doesn't mean foreign companies cannot buy those firms. Anytime a foreign company wants to buy more than 10% of a Japanese publicly owned company it must be approved. For those 518 the percentage has been lowered from 10% to 1%. If there is a bidding war for Square Enix and only Japanese companies could bid then who would the suitors be? Only Sony has both the cash and interest out of the Japanese companies I can think of.what i know, japan has law that prevent their big firm/company from being acquired by foreigner and last year their MOF even tighten their rules.
Japan tightens rules on foreign stakes in 518 firms, citing national security
Japan announced on Friday a list of its firms subject to tighter foreign ownership rules, including majors such as Toyota Motor Corp <7203.T> and Sony Corp <6758.T>, as the United States and Europe step up scrutiny of industries key to national security.www.reuters.com
here is the list of those company that under these law.
square enix indeed in the list.
i do not know much about stuff like this, hopefully anyone who knowledgeble can correct me or explain more about this.
Yes I could definitely imagine that on all 2 consoles in Japan.Microsoft owning the Final Fantasy IP would bring Game Pass instantly on Top in Japan!
Could you imagine Final Fantasy in Japan on Day 1 exclusive on Game Pass?
i see..thanks for the explainationThis doesn't mean foreign companies cannot buy those firms. Edit: Actually, I guess Nintendo is always a possibility.....
Sony money hats some Beth games, MS buys em
Sony moneyhats some Square games.....
When these big companies go on spending sprees and things settle down there are many casualties along the way when it comes to the studios that were purchased. Also, because consolidation is eventually going to suck for gamers. Why?
Congrats, you made gaming lame. Back to my vhs collection.FF day 1 on GPU?
DQ and FF are happily in GPU today!
BF day 1 on GPU?
Kojima day 1 on GPU?
We have football games like FM, Fifa, and probably PES soon.
Sega is cosy with Yakuza on GPU.
PC + GPU = omg.
I am ok with this.
It makes more sense for Sony to purchase Kadokawa because of manga and anime but they probably won't.Microsoft probably looking to really get into Manga, Anime, arcades and film..... it makes total sense, they have a huge investment in all those areas. /S
Think of the growth gain. Double the amount of consoles from 2 to 4!Yes I could definitely imagine that on all 2 consoles in Japan.
Sony and some other companies have shares in Kadokawa, the reason they do not have to buy them is because they will be so dependent on Sony to distribute their Anime worldwide..It makes more sense for Sony to purchase Kadokawa because of manga and anime but they probably won't.
Oh yeah I bet gamers aren't thinking of the culture differences on how American and Japanese business's are being run. If they were to merge, one would have to dominate over the other.Sony and some other companies have shares in Kadokawa, the reason they do not have to buy them is because they will be so dependent on Sony to distribute their Anime worldwide..
Square is about 70% gaming and the rest is anime, manga, arcade and film. A big part of gaming is mobile too....
They also have over 5000 staff to manage.
It would be several times more complicated than Zenimax and add a language and cultural difference....... it would be a total shitshow for msft.
Then we won't need to have games downgraded on their weak shitty console. I'd say it's a win. Nintendo's by far still the most anti-gamer company right now.Nintendo receives a lot of games from Square as does Sony, if one wins over the other then it would be a big loss for gamers.
Yeah, it's highly destructive. Doubt they want to sell though!Sad, to see some people rooting for 3rd party consolidation. It just keeps others from playing games, no one gains anything.
Microsoft will definitely try with big money but relationship wise it would make sense with Sony or Nintendo.
Aren't they already remaking the remake for mobile phone?Sony buy them please and put them to work on a remake of FF7 remake. Also have them as a back up Naughty Dog studio.
that they stole to nintendoFinal fantasy is kinda Sony’s trademark (FF7 exclusive, FF14 MMO etc.)
