A cross gen game at 30fps is a joke. Let the usual console disappoints and reality checks begin. I'm not playing AC because it's been garbage for a long while, but this is a sign of more trash to come.

It's weird though, seems like on paper the Series X should be able to do a mostly 60fps when compared to One X while also improving the look of the game a little. I mean in practice it has maybe 3 times the GPU power, and 4 times the CPU speed.
How is it a joke? This is fairly standard. I don't remember many 60hz cross-gen titles on PS4 at launch.

For MS sake, they better just let it run at sub 4K resolution just to get 60fps. It has more significant impact of the look and feel of the game than some resolution that most people could barely notice.
Not Microsoft or Sonys fault ubisoft is incompetent. First patty series x games will run at 60fps as will pretty much every other cross generation game. Hell a few are getting 120fps mode. There is no excuse they couldn't tune this game to 60fps on both the PS5 and series x.

People in the thread are talking like Assassins Creed is an MS first party title developed by one of their teams...

This is Ubi giving us the type lf stuff they been giving us for years smh

And I play their games...but cmon now.

There was not a 4x cpu increase either.
So what? It's not a CPU bound franchise for one, and two, 4k resolution puts all the burden on the GPU. In fact, most modern games can run in 4k res just fine on even a low end Intel processor. The G634 or whatever the fuck it's called.

The AC games on PS5/XSX will never hit 60fps.

And neither will many other titles. I think the situation will be a lot like this gen. The extra power will go to resolution and graphics, not frame rate.

I think we are making impossible judgements based on launch day cross gen titles, it's ridiculous to base that games performance and apply it to a consoles entire life span.

I'm sure people were saying the same thing when PS4 just launched, we'll only be having upgraded PS3 games. Then many games came out which blew that out of the water.

Look at Resi 2 remake, that runs on a base PS4 and I'm sure no one thought that would have been possible when PS4 first came out.

Some of us tried to tell them. They don't listen.

I got trolled and trolled and trolled for telling these console gamers that next-gen games are going to look like current gen PC games at Ultra settings running at 4k/30FPS.

Of course they didn't agree because I supposedly had an "agenda" instead of actually understanding how graphics pipelines work. Oh well...

You are putting words in my mouth, I didn't say that every PS5 game would be upgraded PS4, I said they're not going to sacrifice the graphical fidelity that comes with 30fps in favor of 60fps after shipping a 30fps game. They're just not going to do it. The fact is any dev who wants to ship a 60fps game can, but they put those resources towards other things.

Come man, just stop it with the agenda, we all know you are getting paid here, don't try to deny it. Everytime you criticise consoles on this forum you get another graphics card in the post from Nvidia, we all know it. Your pets can't live in houses made of GTX 1650s forever, get a real job you hippie!

We still haven't seen what the gameplay really looks like and it's one game. Your speculation is more likely to be on point than that of other people here but this doesn't necessarily prove you right.

I've bookmarked this thread to revisit it once, very soon, other companies games run at 30fps.

60fps for everything from here on out or get the fuck out.
Ultra high resolution, hyper detailed textures, ray tracing, all that jazz is irrelevant. I was hoping next gen wouldnt be the same shit all over again.

Yeah, Im all for Sony and Microsoft to play a bit the store dictator's role here and mandate at least 60fps. At the very least give a low res, 60fps option. For me its almost a deal breaker.

The XSX has more than enough horsepower to deliver 4K60. More than enough.
No, it doesn't have nowhere near enough power to run modern Ubisoft games in 4K60. Try running them in the same screen resolution on PC on a 1080Ti / RTX 2080.

They've unfortunately been convinced that the XSX has the power of dual 2080 ti's. That's why so many of them are shocked by this news and jump straight to calling the developers lazy. Reality hasn't had a chance to set in yet.

Disappointing but not super surprising seeing as Odyssey is very hard to run at 4K/60. In order to not have a knee-jerk reaction, Xbox One X runs Odyssey at 1440/30 correct? I'm not a huge fan of the new AC games due to the bloat, but I was interested with them saying it'll be shorter in addition to a setting that I enjoy.

I've got some difficult decisions ahead of me. Build a PC, or upgrade to XBSX and upgrade my MacBook.

Well good. Its enough. But nothing is clear for now and stupidly people taking that as a fact. They said at least 30 fps.

I think we need to be little more realistic here... IMHO, 2160p @ 30fps is actually a very realistic target, as long as it keeps it rock steady, I would be pretty satisfied.

For a lot of developers - visual fidelity is probably more important than framerates - because one directly affects sales, yet the other can't be really shown unless you play the game. A lot of them chosen the visual fidelity over frame rates. It really comes down to the choice of the developers, and if they tout locked 60fps or 120fps even and it looked like last gen game... it wont' appeal to the users well.

Of course I would love to see every game locked at 2160p @ 60fps - but all games push the hardware in different manner and all have different art style and skill level of doing so. I think 1440p @ 60fps or 2160p @ 30fps would be more common resolution. Then again, this time CPU has so much power, I could be very much wrong about it - and I am hopeful for 4k 60fps would be achievable with incredible visual effects all turned on, as developers get to know the system better and better, and find out more ways to churn out more fps without sacrificing the screen effects and polygons.

Can't they add a mode for VRR compatible TVs where it's locked to 40 or 45 FPS? Would be still a nice upgrade in motion clarity.

What if you run it at 1080p though? Will that run at a smooth 60fps on XSX?
The whole thing doesn’t add up. Running native 4K is a waste of resources. Half that Rez upscaled at 60fps is a smarter target.

I’m confident there will be a choice between performance and fidelity at the least. We are no longer cpu bound, so there are a lot more options to hit frame rate targets.

120 fps is a pipe dream for these titles. You might get that frame rate on sports games like nba 2k or something.

was going to say if a 2-3tf difference can only produce a 30fp 4k game...id hate to see what the ps5 will run at

Probably variable 4K, dropped graphics and lower fps.
Let say this game is done with jaguar 8 cores at base, at least Series X can push their Zen2 at higher clocks than PS5!
Smart designs all about! :messenger_bicep:

On average Ps4 Pro 1440p, XB1X 1728p with some higher settings on X. Both dynamic rez so mostly around this according to DF.

Ray tracing isn't supported for Series X version. At least it's not listed in the Xbox site for Valhalla. If the game doesn't feature a higher frame lower resolution (perhaps a 1440p60fps with graphical bells and whistles) if such an option isn't there, it's such a wasted opportunity. Higher frame rates offer more immersion in a game, if the hardware is capable of handling higher frame rates can developers provide options please!
