Didn't we see the Doctor's parents in the End of Time anyway, and they were both Time Lords (and not looms)? Well, mostly his mother but I presume the man who also dissented at Rassilon's plans was his Father.
Ha! Well, at least this will help narrow down the discussions for the Capaldi's successor!

I think he'll be fine, I don't expect the same amount but I don't believe he's not capable of it either. Honestly he seems like the Doctor to stand and shout at his enemies rather than run away
War Doctor was made to function in a war. As such he was likely capable of enduring it without letting it change who he was fundamentally. The 9th didn't have that benefit, plus was reeling from thinking he had killed his people.
Basically think of it like PTSD. Plenty of vets functioned fine in combat, but once the war was over that's when the emotional scarring started to show.

Bingo. They express that in Night of The Doctor. He specifically chose to be a Warrior. So his War Doctor incarnation was fully able to handle the things he did and he saw even though he hated it. 9 was a "natural" regeneration though and as such didn't have the ability to deal. The guilt plagued him so much it lasted through 10's life as well and 11 dealt with it by willfully trying to forget it.

I'd also wonder if meeting the other Doctors and having the chance to act like him again rather than warrior also helped change his attitude to bring part of it all. Part of the events making him the Doctor again.
Maybe on a subconscious level, but he wouldn't have remembered the events of The Day of the Doctor.
He's talking exclusively about the War Doctor, who remembered everything until he regenerated into Eccleston.
That makes more sense.

It's made by some really dedicated Whovians with official BBC licensing and has planned free support until the have checked off every possible piece of Doctor Who content they can make and the Community wants.
I've played it for countless hours since launch and it seems to have a hugely positive response. It's huge fan service and I recommend it completely. It's also been getting some pretty gushing reviews in the Smartphone gaming circles.

It's worth the download because it's free!
I've been pretty active in tthe small community the game has and it's been great. So far content includes S7 and S6 they are working backwards to CE then tackling Classic Era and some Capaldi based content is also expected in mid-late 2014 to go with his season.
After that Torchwood, Sarah Jane and the Audio content are all going to go into the mixing bowl. It's somethin the dev's have frequently mentioned wanting to do.

So after watching this special, I have to say I really enjoyed Matt Smith as the doctor. I've only seen the new series, but from the 3 doctors there are Smith and Tennant are definitely spectacular actors. I enjoyed Eccleston's doctor as well, but not as much. I didn't cry like I did over Tennants regen, but this one was definitely emotional, and I'll miss Smith a lot, but I look forward to see what Capaldi will bring to the table. Overall, I thought the episode was pretty enjoyable, but it definitely should have been longer to hash out some of the rushed points of the plot. (or they could have cut out all the parts with Clara's family).
Also, I have to say holy shit, Orla Brady is 52!?

Anyway, aside from that, I'm interested in watching some of Classic Who, but I don't want to watch all the hundreds of episodes there are. I was wondering if GAF had some kind of must see list from each Doctor's run (or any personal opinions!). Any help in choosing episodes would be appreciated!

I didn't really like Smith at first but he grew on me. That was a great episode. Can't wait for the new season!

Did you like the ending? I found the episode as a whole very dull, but the last 5 minutes or so redeemed it for me. They could have tacked that onto the end of the 50th and I doubt I'd have minded.
Can't wait to see Matt Smith stretch his acting chops elsewhere, guy's got serious talent. That final scene in the Tardis is so wholly different to say, his regeneration scene 4 years ago.

It really is a fantastic little time waster. And whoever the team is behind it clearly have a love and appreciation for Who which is normally a bit hit and miss with games based on the show.

They put out a casting call for a pretty young man to join the TARDIS crew and be a love interest for Clara. Presumably also to give the tumblr crowd somebody to fawn over.

the 50th was certainly better, but I didnt care much about both of them honestly.
time of the doctor was just a mess with too many explanations and new questions, and any of them didnt get they time they should have taken.

He's arguably the biggest fan of the show to take the reigns. I can imagine that would translate to wanting to stay as long as possible. As others have pointed out, he's the prime candidate to lead a Doctor Who movie too. Growing Hollywood name with lots of acting chops and a distinct gravitas.
Hopefully he pulls a Susan on Clara and leaves her and her new pretty boyfriend on a remote planet.

I really hope he stays for a few years and the rumours of it only being a one year contract are false.
But moving to Hollywood? Not sure I ever want to see Who at the Cinema unless its for big events like the 50th.
I see the problem with moving it to the Cinema for movies is that we wont have a TV Series, as one will need to be given up to make way for the other, I cant see a tv series and a set of movies working.
It'd be too much time to take up for everyone.
And I hope to God David Yates fucks off with his supposed plans to bring it to the movies.

I have to imagine there are certain problems in regards to the licence fee. Maybe it's not technically against the rules, but people would go crazy if they dropped a series one year in order to make a movie, particularly if you have to pay to see said movie. I mean, people went crazy this year over the fact that you had to pay to see the 50th in cinemas (because people are stupid).
While I loved seeing the anniversary episode in the cinema I've never really got the desire for a full on Who movie. There's not really much you could do with it that would be satisfying to both fans and newcomers and not change continuity to the point that people who only watch the TV show don't feel left out. Probably why we've barely heard anything about it.

The way it works is nothing vital to the continuity is allowed to be behind a 'pay gate' such as in cinemas only. A TV movie would be easier to make happen, or even a feature-length movie-funded episode that gets a TV broadcast in the UK day-and-date but is cinema-only internationally. There are routes around it.

Specials would actually be perfect for theatrical release as they don't have to have information vital to continuity and they fairly often have new one off companions who can easily play new audience surrogates and have things explained to them.
