Source I trust: "plug Eddie Lacy into Rams for your little mock draft thingy and Te'o in with the Vikings." I wasn't going to but now I will

Time to hammer a nail into my dick

He's trolling I'm certain. I think all you guys sustain yourselves that you aren't worse than the others

If it makes you feel any better, my mock draft has Patterson and Ogletree going to the Rams.

Probably depends on what's there. Could be OL, WR, LB, DT, QB (probably not until the 3rd or later though), or RB. Basically, I have no idea.

OL and interior rush seems to be the most pressing matter at hand...

McGinn is really banging the drum for GB to get tougher/less finesse. Dunno if that's just him or a change in philosophy there

Now contrast that with what coach Mike McCarthy and Thompson see when they look at their defensive line.

Ryan Pickett, 33, and entering his 13th season, is nearing the end. He reported two weeks ago overweight and out of shape.

B.J. Raji will be entering his contract year, but you sure wouldn't have known it by his conditioning. He has looked as sloppy as Pickett, and at this juncture his employment beyond this season is uncertain.

The coaches have seen Johnny Jolly, too, and he's every bit as beefy as the others. For Jolly to have any chance to contribute after three silent seasons, he needed to report in tiptop shape so he could focus on football. That didn't happen, not by a long shot.

Late in an uninspiring rookie season, Jerel Worthy blew out his knee, had surgery in mid-January and probably is doubtful to contribute much, if anything, in 2013.

So who's left? Mike Neal, C.J. Wilson and Mike Daniels, that's who.

A week ago, an executive in personnel said of the team's prospects on the defensive line: "I think they're on life support now up front."

Can you imagine what the scout would have said with a bird's-eye view inside the Don Hutson Center in recent days?

Now you know what's uppermost in the minds of Thompson and McCarthy as they allocate their eight draft choices.

The Packers really can't even begin to line up and play with such a menagerie across the front.

They need big men who can play, and play now.

What they don't need are players with an injury history.

The entire organization is on a rampage against injuries
, and rightly so. They've been decimated by injury in two of the last three years, and it was only because of the collective skill and toughness of players and coaches that the Packers were able to win the Super Bowl after the 2010 season.

Really jealous of GB fans. All my years watching the Oilers and Texans play, they never had any media guy that ruthless or plugged in. lol at Rams. They might as well write the articles in the paper

2nd round isn't until Friday. Scheider and Carroll said they were spending Thursday watching Harvin highlights on Youtube. Didn't know if you were playing that up or genuinely asking

Agreed. They may end up drafting some depth that will be promoted to a starting/contributing role when guys get cut or leave as free agents. Zach Miller, Golden Tate, Sidney Rice, etc. They're gonna need to free up some space for Earl, Sherman, and Russell.

Actually seen a couple mocks putting Lacy with the Rams at 22. I bet they end up taking him. Fisher loves his big backs. Not as down on him as you squicken. I think he will be a franchise back for us for years

Seems like they are setting up for a playoff run next season I would think something like wr they might put off until next year and try to get 1st round talent there...

I like his production and skill set. But he's been injury prone and was out of shape at his pro day. It's too high imo for him. Reminds me of Richardson. Used up by the time he got to the pros and was breaking down already

Todd McShay's latest mock draft (on Sportscenter) has Luke Joekel falling out of the top ten...

In other news, Todd McShay is a fucking idiot

WE'RE THE 11TH LARGEST PRIVATE GROUP ON NFL.COM!

Only 7 more players, and not only would we be in the top 10, we would also become the biggest Private group!

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Horrible, horrible feeling Detroit takes Ansah tonight.

That may end my 20-year no vomiting streak.

McGinn is the best in the biz. Especially his annual "Packers are utterly and inescapably doomed this year" article right before the season begins.

I'm glad the Packers are finally focusing on health this year. Too many injuries to be a fluke. You'd think that'd be a focus after Harrell a few years back.

Mayock has Werner to the Broncos.

Meh, this draft just isn't sexy because there are no elite QB's and other skill positions. In reality, this draft is actually very deep. Smart teams will build/maintain solid foundations for their teams by stocking-up on quality depth throughout this draft.

Let's make some Bold predictions about the draft tonight. Mine is that the Cleveland Browns will come out of the 1st round with EJ Manuel

The Raiders will NOT be drafting 3rd

He is honest but he isn't terribly plugged in. He's rarely right when he tries to predict anything the Packers will do and once the season starts he's a traditional beat reports who just writes game reports for the most part. He's only super insightful during the off-season and even then he isn't too prescient. He's also a doom-n-gloomer traditionalist who bangs the "Packers are soft and need an elite running back" every off-season. You can have him.

Part of that might be because Ted Thompson is a opaque obelisk of awesome that gives nothing away and part of it might be because he actually does write awesome stuff but writes it for the worst "big" city paper in the country, the Journal Sentinel, so no one reads it.

Its a bad draft in that's uninteresting, pass rushing class isn't special, the wrs aren't great (you have the slot one going first), and no qbs. Even the cbs aren't as traditonally as good. Some of the positions are deep (wrs are deep, but it's not top heavy).

I think this is going to be the most entertaining and least satisfying in years. It'll be entertaining because so many teams seem to be looking to move down yet no one wants to move up, which means teams will be stuck taking BPA which hopefully means some crazy unpredictable picks.

It'll be unsatisfying because there just aren't a lot of immediate impact guys for us to get excited about. Chiefs take Joeckel?! Congrats, best case scenario you get Joe Thomas...and remain as irrelevant as the Browns did. If the Bills pass on a QB at 8 then I I don't think there is really any team in the first roung with a legitimate chance to get significantly better tonight. Marginally better? Of course. Predictably, significantly better? Nah.

If this were baseball I'd say the first round is mostly expensive "org" guys who will hopefully develop but I don't think anyone in the first would be a 60 prospect. Tons of 55's, which is nice. I don't know the scout lingo for the NFL though! LJ, help!

Let's make some Bold predictions about the draft tonight.

- The Ravens wont pick anyone tonight.
- The Vikings will only pick once tonight.
- One team in the 20s will trade for a pick in the top 10.
- The Chiefs wont draft first overall.
- The Browns will take a pass rusher.

LSU CB/PR Tyrann Mathieu has canceled his draft party previously scheduled for Thursday night.
Mathieu quickly came to his senses after getting skewered in the media, tweeting, "There will be no party for Tyrann Mathieu!!" It would have been a lame party anyway as the Honey Badger isn't going to be a first-round pick because of his, well, partying. We still expect him to come off the board sometime around the third round, but the coaching staff of whatever teams takes the plunge is going to have some serious character building to do.
:lol

Please not Ziggy Ansah. Please not Ziggy Ansah. Please not Ziggy Ansah.

Detroit Lions version.

In related news the Lions held a private workout for Bjorn Werner about a week ago. Hopefully it means we have some sort of trade down involved.

this prediction is likely right

Geno Slides to the end of the 1st
Werner slides to second
Chicago gets Te'o
Atl trades 1,2,4 and 2,3 next year to get Dee Milliner
Jax goes Tackle
Pats will trade back or completely trade away their 1st for a 2nd 1st next year

McGinn's mock draft. Last two years he has been the most accurate at these, fwiw, of the draftniks

Milliner is going to be interesting. If CLE and DET pass, he could fall

Another white TE for the Steelers whose name could sound like "Heeeeath" (i.e., "Eeeeeeiiiiiff") when he catches passes.

The one thing these mocks don't even try to predict is the massive number of trades that could happen.
