It's not really a rumour in that it was announced as a thing ages ago when Joe Mad couldn't keep up on Avenging and that arc was turned into this mini. Glad it's coming out tho; it's gonna own.

Its just... I can't help myself. Even after avx I just know I'm in it for the whole run, tie ins and all.

Fuck.

The tie-ins too? Surely a line can be drawn at buying the event to see what is going on but avoiding the tie-ins unless you like the event and they look good. I'm trade waiting Ultron based on reviews, 10 issues at 3 a month seems shady.

Tie-ins because I get most of those books anyways. Might as well! Right, Marvel!

But, really, I'm sort of excited for it. I am hoping that it's sort of not terrible?

Well why would you hope anything is terrible? I want every book to be good....but that's obviously not how shit goes down.

The lower your expectations the harder it is to be disappointed. AvX still to this day has a bitter taste in my mouth. If AoU is... Good... all will be forgiven and I'll go back to being hype for Marvel events.

It's weird to use "Marvel Event" as criteria. I just look at them by creator. Fear Itself wasn't an awesome "Marvel Event" it was an awesome "Matt Fraction Comic".

I lower the bar when it comes to events and i'm still let down, events read like they were something that had to be done instead of a story someone wanted to tell.

I figure this is a good place to ask; I have been a fan of many comic book heroes since I was a little kid, watching animated series on TV and some different movies that have come out. I have never really read any comics though...I would like to, but I really don't know where to start. Is there a way I could read all of the old stuff, either as a physical book or digitally? Like experience Iron Man from the very beginning, or is there no way to do this?

Fear Itself was a key component of the Tony Stark arc Fraction spent like five years on.

Whenever i read your Fear Itself praise i filter it into the BenjaminBox i store all the things i disagree with you on.

Though the only egregious events that come to mind are Flashpoint and AvX, with World War Hulk just being disappointment in how trivial and stupid it was.

SNYDER/LEE 'Man of Steel' Title Named SUPERMAN UNCHAINED

DC Comics has finally revealed the name of the Scott Snyder-written/Jim Lee-drawn Superman title — Superman Unchained will debut in June, the same month Warner Bros.' Superman reboot film Man of Steel arrives in theaters.

The title will also feature Snyder-written back-up stories drawn by Dustin Nguyen.

"We've been pushing the creators to not be beholden to the past conceits and understandings of Superman. So we will speak to a new generation of readers."

Snyder says ther aim is to focus on this superhero who has the power to shape the world however he wants, yet looks at humanity to be inspired himself.

Superman Unchained will also explore the Man of Steel's supporting cast and "how they occupy his thoughts as he goes about the business of being Superman."

"I know conceptually why he admires Lois Lane, but then when you're writing them and you feel the chemistry between them and it comes to life on the page, it's always these little bursts of surprises that have been a joy to discover with him," Snyder says.

Unchained? Really? I'm excited to see what Dustin Nguyen will bring to this.

Disappointed that Superman UNCHAINED has a back-up feature, I was optimistic about DC's back-up features but the only one i like so far that i read was in Justice League, I could haven done without Batman and Action Comics' back-up.

DC: 3.99 with a back-up feature, 4.99 with a digital code on select books
Marvel: 3.99 with a digital code

pricey pricey.

What! Those Jock back-ups were so good.

Also do people really buy those DC digital combo books? Don't they ruin a good cover like those Marvel Now red bars?

If the same creator took over for all the cross over comics, then yeah that would make sense. I like to look at how the event shapes the universe as a whole, not just the 10 issue run that they stuff down our throats.

Superman would totally beat up Ultron btw.

We don't know yet but people sure love jumping to conclusions. It's the fucking internet.

Fear Itself was awesome because it was proof that you don't have to be called Brian Michael Bendis to drop the ball on a Marvel event.

Also, yeah, the Batman back-ups were fucking ace.

It has two small indications that it's a combo pack, and i tend to sell the print versions anyways :p I buy the combos of Action Comics, Batman, Justice League, JLoA, and Green Lantern so far, though i missed getting issue 1 of JLoA so i don't know how i'm going to read that yet.

I wonder if people bitched about Secret Wars back in the day.

omg, and how.

And this was the marvel editors and staff doing the complaining. So many bad Beyonder jokes. I wish a writer would, like a tree, say something bad about the new DC.
They'd be gone so fast.

People used to send in letters to bitch. Sometimes about Wolverine being a Beast knockoff or some shit. Sometimes about Dazzler being the worst character ever.

Okay I can see your point with buying things as they come out. Any digital I buy from DC I usually wait a month for them to drop a dollar.

My young self didn't know WTF was going on actually. The only comic I read at the time was Amazing Spider-Man, so we went from an epic confrontation with the Hobgoblin (the first, and best) which left us with even more questions, to issue 252, with a striking cover of Spider-Man in his new black suit.

I remember being totally confused, as issue 8 of Secret Wars (where Spidey gets the new costume) wouldn't be coming out for months.
