Yuru Yuri ♪♪ Episode 9

Great episode like the previous ones. Chinatsu actually got some decent (and watchable) development in this one, the first step to make her more interesting (imo) who knows?

Favorite scene was random Akane hovering over Chinatsu. Akane never dissapoints.

Basically in the past people had caused the Earth's environment to deteriorate and they had moved to "the Heavens", which many people think is space, but due to wars they were forced to return to Earth.

Due to the Earth being desolated the only habitable land was around Japan. This was known as the "Divine States" and those who were the descendants of those who had lived here originally lived on the land here. There wasn't enough land for people from other countries though so a copy of the land was made in another type of alternate pocket dimension that existed above the Divine States. This pocket dimension was called the "Harmonic Divine States". The devices which held the dimension in it's place were located in the Divine States.

Over time people regained more of their old technologies and thought they could return to "the Heavens" but couldn't remember how it was done or something was blocking them from achieving that. People then thought if they recreated history then they could mimic or figure out what it was humanity had done the first time.

While the Divine States was recreating a war dealing with a northern and southern dynasties the devices which held the Harmonic Divine States in place were damaged or destroyed or something which caused about half of that area to be annihilated where the rest literally fell onto the Divine States overwriting or merging with some areas of the Divine States. These areas are called "Harmonic Territories" and are recognized by the pillars of light they shoot up into the sky and have their own climates as well.

Some of those who lived in the Harmonic Divine States survived this and moved into the Divine States. They blamed those living in the Divine States for the collapse and this resulted in the "Harmonic Unification War". Those from the Harmonic Divine States were victorious and the land was split with a small part of land given to those originally from the Divine States and named "The Far East". The Testament Union was created to oversee things such as the history recreation project and put the Far East under provisional rule.

It might sound complicated but it's not really that bad. Did that help any?

I personally don't really have too many problem following it or think it's really any more convoluted than something like Game of Thrones.

I agree. It's all very interesting to me too. While I do think some of the debates and plot points could be presented in a better way (and maybe Sunrise shouldn't have skipped a ton of stuff), there's a lot of compelling stuff that keeps me coming back.

yes, humanity is on a ruined planet, and they're somehow going to make everything better by acting out a global play. and that's before we even start touching the absurdity of having highschool students be absurdly powerful, the terrible humor, the dumb fanservice, the silly power system, the laughable drama, etc, etc

A 90's action OVA - everything should be clear by saying this.
There's some really stylish action (albeit with some stock animation), cool over the top character designs and that's about it, nothing else. The good thing is that there's a lot of action, so I found myself enjoying those parts, the rest not so much.

Another 90's OVA, this one is kind of like a homage to The Last Starfighter, but a crappy one. There's worse stuff out there, but there's better stuff, it's a bit fanservicey, so people who are into that might enjoy it. Well that's the back story or the reason why they are recreating history anyway. I guess you could say Musashi is sort of waging war in its attempts to get the Deadly Armaments of Sin back for Horizon.

I agree. It's all very interesting to me too. While I do think some of the debates and plot points could be presented in a better way (and maybe Sunrise shouldn't have skipped a ton of stuff), there's a lot of compelling stuff that keeps me coming back.

The premise is what got me initially interested in the show. I have heard because there are so many details that they have had to cut a lot or try to more quickly summarize things. It sounds like it would be like trying to adapt Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings into a 24 episode anime show. Unless there are more seasons coming, I don't know.

The fights are pretty good as well, such as seeing Honda Futayo with Tonbokiri or the automatons I find especially awesome, like Musashi or that girl, F Walshingham, who was fighting Nate (the chain wielder girl) in the last couple of episodes.

I wouldn't talk that way about something I haven't seen. ^^

Okay, I just wanted to make sure as many will pass judgment on a show they haven't seen yet. For example, I saw many calling Guilty Crown or Black Rock Shooter a bad show when they were simply copying what other people had told them and had not actually seen the shows themselves.

I'm not trying to say the show is really good or anything, my original point was more to say that it's not really that hard to follow. I will agree that it can be pretty goofy, yet so can a lot of shows. Something like the first Metal Gear Solid for example I think is easy to follow but will agree when you have people with physic powers and other such fantastical abilities, some plot points come across as silly. Sometimes silly story but not hard to follow.

In the end it's a show I still find entertaining, and like watching the fights or verbal back and forth. I'll admit I'm not a fan of all the "fan service" material either but I still watch it, silly plot points and all. A guilty pleasure I guess you would call it.

In the show she's the most boring and doesn't do much of anything but play vidya at 6am and be normal or whatever.

Akari is weird in that she isn't particularly interesting on her own but she ends up being a good focal point for the other characters to bounce off on. When they DO put her on her own her segments tend to be dreadfully sleep-inducing (I'm looking at you train station segment). The lone exception being the beginning of this season, for obvious reasons.

Hiwamari is decent, it's just that she NEEDS Sakurako around for her character to work at all, otherwise she just feels out of place. On the other hand, Sakurako can hold her own playing without Hiwamari if the setup is right.

Ghost in the Shell

The mind-body problem and questions of identity have long been some of my favorite philosophical topics to contemplate, so I found that aspect of this film appealing. Blurring the lines between the real and the virtual, the organic and the electronic, has been central to science fiction narratives, and the cyberpunk setting here is ideal for tackling that. The art vividly brings to life the ingrown, overbearing urban jungle in which the story plays out. Of course the animation is very good, the directing is thoughtful - it's a very well made film all around.

On the other hand, the atmosphere is relentless, almost monotonous - it felt like Tarkovsky's Solaris in that regard. The sparse soundtrack, brooding and ambient even in action scenes, helps contribute to that. I felt rather detached from the proceedings in general, and am not sure how I really feel about the film personally. It's the kind of thing I'll need to let simmer and attack again when I'm feeling fresh.

Yep, they just animating the fight n the core of dialogue in most part, you must relying to the reader for explaining the detail.. there is certain site that explaining lack of detail per episode too.

The novel is about 1000 page per book afterall. they will got to nowhere in slower pace

Obviously Bunny Drop has added advantages in that it's extremely well-made and touches on universal themes and subject matter, without having much of anything that could offend anyone, but I'm wondering in general if there's a "Crunchyroll Effect" on sales.

Akari ditched the invisible thing forever ago to be a victim of misfortune. Yui is the one who doesn't have anything going for her. Ayano already fills a similar role of being cool headed while being infinitely better.
