I've seen a lot of people hoping it would be made, and it would seem interesting.

Though I think a Nintendo vs. Capcom game is pure fan fantasy I would def. be there day 1 to pick up something like this. Ryu vs. Mario? Chun-Li vs Peach? One can only dream lol.

To me, the shocking part was just not throwing Leon in a black outfit and making Degeneration in to a Wii game, as well.

THIS so much

I was shocked when I saw they had a Degeneration iPhone game, I even made a thread on the ign boards asking why wont Capcom port it over to Wii?

To me that wouldve made a whole lot of sense.

I suppose people just expected something on the scale of E3 2006, especially after Nintendo's year-long silence. Reggie sounded much better at E3 2006. The message and the potential of Wii was so great. It was an easy sell, and Nintendo pulled it off brilliantly.

Conversely, Wii U is a bit harder to showcase. Judging by that Luigi's Ghost Mansion demonstration, that was pretty apparent. However, Nintendo could have sold the audience on Wii U much better than they did. I understand they focused on launch games, but I don't agree with that decision.

I think Wii U's launch line-up is stronger than Wii's, but the actual conference was pretty weak.

Agree 100%. Wii U launch lineup will be FAR superior to the Wii's. The thing that the 2006 conference had, that this one didn't was year 2 games, namely Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Super Mario Galaxy.

There just wasn't that title that made people ga-ga and gif happy. Even the Zelda demo last year led to way more excitement/gifs.

I think the lineup is looking varied, just not exciting; no real blockbuster that I can see there. If I get one though, there will be a few titles I'll pick up and likely not hate.

BTW: Where's all the hardware speculation gone? We've finished with it I take it and know everything?

Blockbuster sales wise will definitely be NSMBU and whatever big casual title there is. But other than that, even though I'm looking very forward to NSMBU, all that interests me is Pikmin 3, P-100 and ZombiU.

But yeah, no blowout hype monster of a AAA exclusive so far, which sucks. I firmly believe the Wii launch was so successful because of Wii Sports/Wii Play and TP launching Day 1. But I really didn't think we'd be this close to launch and know so little details on so many things, as well as so few launch game to be excited over. I guess Nintendo expects Nintendoland to be pretty huge...

The hardware is still classified. There's nothing that has been said that hasn't been known since the Wii U was first unveiled.

What would your reactions be if Nintendo announced all these games at their Fall Conferece for Wii U.

Grand Theft Auto V
TimeSplitters 4
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Final Fantasy XV
Chrono Trigger 2
Resident Evil 6
Nintendo vs Capcom
Mirror's Edge 2
Watch Dogs
Super Smash Bros 4 trailer
Yoshi's Island Wii U
Earthbound Wii U
F-Zero Wii U
Star Fox Wii U

That would be the best conference in conference history

Grand Theft Auto V -- Would be huge, but won't be announced this early.

TimeSplitters 4 -- Wild card. Could be great. Could be too great and lead to doubt, fear, and the dark side.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII -- This thing is dead. Wada is just trying to cover his ass so their stock doesn't dive because they are cancelling games they have poured years of money into.

Final Fantasy XV --We aren't going to see a genuine 15 until 13 is done and 14 is fixed.

Chrono Trigger 2 -- Chrono Cross came out for Playstation. I hope it's more than a straight port.

Resident Evil 6 -- Would be cool. Half expect something like this.

Nintendo vs Capcom -- More likely to see Capcom characters in Smash Bros or Nintendo characters in Project X Zone.

Mirror's Edge 2 -- Fodder.

Watch Dogs -- Dreams come true.

Super Smash Bros 4 trailer -- More dreams come true.

Yoshi's Island Wii U -- Nintendo will probably never be able to capture the charm of the original, and for that, they should leave it alone.

Earthbound Wii U -- Now you're just twisting the knife. Mother 2 was the best, flat out. Mother 3 was good, but.. I didn't like the combat system, and there were a couple other weird bits. If we're going to keep progressing down this road, I'd rather it just not happen. A good game will always be remembered for being good, but a bad game can tarnish a series forever.

F-Zero Wii U -- More GX please. Yes.

Star Fox Wii U -- Kind of excited? A new Star Fox needs to be big. No more linear fly-on-pseudo-rails. 3D space combat. Docking on the Great Fox for repairs/upgrades/customization. Would be cool to have it "open world." Use the GamePad to line up light speed travel, using the gamepad screen as a sort of scope, making sure you don't collide into anything before you can initiate the warp drive. Can descend onto a number of planets in real time, engage in land, sea, and air battles. A new Star Fox game could be tremendously awesome. But it has to evolve. It has to change to match the "depth and breadth" that Nintendo is trying to reach with the Wii U.

I notice you forgot to say "Metroid Wii U." So I'll help you just this once.

Metroid Wii U -- Yes win forever.

I find it funny that the Cysis possible on WiiU thread was so far back on gaf, but when the Crysis 3 not a Fat chance thread was made a while back it was about 6 pages long in the same time period, which the WiiU hate group leading the charge lol.

I see your point, it would be awesome though.

As for Chrono Cross I feel that's not a true sequel too Chrono Trigger, I did love Chrono Cross.

While I don't believe that Chrono Cross did the immeasurably fantastic and timeless (ironically) Chrono Trigger justice, it is about as sequelly a sequel as you can get. It takes place in the same world, after the events of Trigger, and you even meet characters that were directly related to those of Trigger.

At this point I don't have a lot of faith in Square to deliver mind blowing RPG experiences any more.

Yeah I think SE needs to go back to their roots.

Ha ha! Forgot that one too. A big omission. Still, that game came out 1.5 years after launch. We know the next SSB is coming, just not when (or what it will look like or what roster it will have - which are exciting).

But my point still stands that Nintendo only showed stuff planned to release in the first 5 months.

So Two Tribes have a "big nintendo related" thing to show of in the next few weeks (via twitter). Could this mean NDAs lifting earlier than we thought?

I think he's talking about something kind of different. But that's based on what I've read on what he's talking about.

Different, huh? Gotcha. While we're on the subject of global illumination, have we seen any titles that use it for sure?

Zelda demo: people are either saying they don't see it or jury's out on whether it uses it or not

Garden demo: AlStrong made a strong case for its lighting being some kind of baked/emulated GI

What about Nintendoland, P-100, and ZombiU? Same method as the Garden demo, or...?

Also, it's interesting that a common point of praise among Wii U games seems to be how great the lighting in them is. Is there something about the Wii U's GPU that makes implementing great lighting easy or something?

I'm not sure if it's "easy" but the Wii U having more powerful/more modern architecture could have something to do with it.

Also, it's a first I heard about the Bird Demo using GI. I know it uses some kind of sub surface scattering on the bird's belly.

The GI in Zelda demo is more obvious with the way the fire's radiance bleeds into the Gohma and Link's clothes/face.

I also think there were rumours of some dedicated part of the gpu that handles lighting (a la Gamecube). Can't remember the technical jargon, but could be something to do with it.

It would be a no-brainer for both Nintendo and Capcom imo. Christ on a bike it would sell an absolute shitload and would also end up being a system seller for sure. It would also keep fans of fighting games happy until the next Super Smash Bros. game is released.

If I had anything to do with the decision making at Capcom I would have been on the phone as soon as the U was announced.

Fixed :p I'm expecting zilch from the Square side of S-E.

You are probably right but Alberto's tidbits has me in an optimistic mood.

Oh and my wildcard prediction- a Nintendo musou game from Nintendo and Tecmo Koei.

You're right! This lineup would pretty much win the generation for me.

Do you guys think the Wii U will get Skyrim?.

Reggie did hint it.

I think Reggie just mentioned it because it was a big name this generation. I'm really concerned. Do they expect titles that have already been released on other consoles to perform exceptionally well on Wii U?

Namco Bandai- new Tales mothership title

I'm not really sure how Namco announces new games in the Tales series, but would they really announce a new mothership title before the release of Xilla 2? I could potentially see them announce and release Tales of Graces F + as the localization would be already be done for an overseas launch, then announce a new mothership next year.

Not as good of course but exclusive content can help it, Reggie could of hinted at Elder Scrolls 6 for Wii U for all we know of course.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I am pretty sure they have in fact announced new mothership titles before the last one has released.

Edit- Tales of Graces was announced before Tales of Hearts and before Tales of Vesperia PS3 was released.

SFxT is coming to WiiU? I thought it was TTT2.

When it comes to older games (ps360 ports) I think it would be better if they put them up on Wii U's eshop and skip a retail release. Provided its not alot of effort to port, it could be a great way for 3rd parties to make a little extra money on already released games. Iwata did say you would be able to download retail games at launch, so I'm assuming their online will be competent in that regard.

They've done that before; you see, the Tales of team is like a kid with a knife, they're pretty much berserk all the time.

Tales of Xilia was teased in July 2010 and unveiled June 2010, when Tales of Graces F only came out December 2010. Xilia only came out September 2011 so you might wonder why they didn't keep it in their pants for a while longer.

They also pretty much screwed their own Tales of Graces original wii release in Japan, seeing they had released Tales of Vesperia PS3 in September 2009 (a "new game" seeing nobody bought the X360 version in Japan) leaving 3 months for the Tales of Graces final December release.

Of course, it kinda halved both games sales, Tales of Graces being the most prejudiced because it actually came 3 months after a main Tales; managed to do worse than Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk (note: Knight of Ratatosk hadn't sold bad considering what it was). By this time fans figured out Namco would keep porting everything with extras for their platform of choice too, making it so that buying a glorified beta (and Tales of Graces was beta to the point they had to do version 1.1) was silly.

Yup, they're capable of doing it; the whole "announce Metal Gear Collection while Metal Gear Solid 3DS port hasn't shipped yet" a few months back seemed like a page taken off their book of cleverness.
