Dunkey makes Sony mad as hell

When I was a kid I saved $20 to get Mario Sunshine. When I got to the store they didn't have it so I picked up Resident Evil 4 instead, my mom was okay with it for some reason. Ended up being a favorite of mine.
Kids now won't experience moments like that.
There is some hope though, I saw a kid at a retro store getting PS2 supplies.

Damn, that last bit hit me all up in the feels....

Yes for a world that prides itself on being more connected than ever before we have become more isolated and disconnected in many ways. That ending is a sad reality.
We could learn the necessary lessons from all the internet and smartphone and social media experiments gone too far. We know much more about the pitfalls and dangers of those tools than we did back in the day. We could build a better world that harnesses technology for good without sacrificing all the benefits of physicality and human closeness.
But instead we rush forward with AI knowing full well it'll compound the mistakes we've already made instead of correct them.

Just want to play Death Stranding all over again after read your post.
I mean Kojima said something along the lines of he hopes Death Stranding makes people go outside. It's my favorite game of all time for a lot of reasons but one is that it critiqued video games worse qualities as a medium and its crazy how it's not talked about more.

Death Stranding is a game that just hits harder and harder the more you think about it.

This is scary AF. And they can easily justify it by saying it's better for the environment or some shit. Nooooo
Sony is openly hostile at this point and they colluded with Rockstar to make this happen. They will just push it on their fans whether they like it or not. What other option will there be, a $1K+ console that's scarce?

I finally got time to play during quarantine and can't tell you weird it was that I was playing people's reality.

Though I can't lie lol, I jumped on the bandwagon with my spare car and made a shit ton of extra money during the first couple months.

It really got me thinking. What are other industries treat their core market with such disdain and as a never-ending tap of money to be exploited in search for further growth?

It's like if BBQ manufacturers all of a sudden decided you could only cook with electricity (purchased through them of course), only proprietary vegetables could be cooked on it (some people who work at the BBQ company are vegan and require everyone share their views) and you weren't allowed to invite friends over without a subscription. It's ridiculous.

Maybe if you're not a judgmental asshole

No, I just worked enough retail at launches back then to know the type of folks that crawl out of the woodworks for midnight launches.

When the PS3 and Wii launched we had to have the cops come out multiple times a week before launch because people kept putting up tents in line and pissing and shitting in buckets to keep their place in line.

That's already coming. Nvidia's consumer ARM chip has the power of a 3070 ti in a thin and light - at this rate within 5 years of they say our entire set ups are DGX spark tier ARM chip SoCs in tiny boxes with lpcamm ram I wouldn't be shocked.

Sometimes shit happens (often if you're in a big city lol). That's the nature of any big event, be it a game launch, concert, or opening night for a movie.

One of my fondest gaming memories was going to the midnight launch for Halo: Reach and playing with my brother in a local tournament! We didn't even enter; some team just lost a couple members and needed fill ins. It was a blast to see all those people there for the same thing we were.

It may suck to deal with at times, be it as an attendee or staff, but there's a reason people have such nostalgia for them.

Staring at hundreds of games through the glass as a child wishing I could play them all and trying to guilt my parents into buying one for me is a feeling I can still remember vividly.
