Did you ever think Sony was your friend? We have not seen the Sony of the good ole days this decade. RIP the peoples champ Sony and welcome Greedy anti consumer Sony.I mean, with this whole negative response to their recent announcements with digital-only future, well, is that it?
Are we at the point where, just like when someone mentions an Xbox, and / or anything, or anyone related to it, there will be reactions with countless laughing emojis?
I too think the core fans will stick around. It's too big of a step to pull out now. This isn't just about digital though. Gaas and pisspoor first party output have been common complaints about Sony all generation long. They way they went about cutting off physical disc for PS5 was just the final straw for a lot of us.
But we are going to point out "dramatic cunts" then let's start with the over the corporation defense being put on display. Fucking cringe man
This is also disingenuous.Hmmm... you see, statements like these are disingenuous. Why?
Because it makes no mention of the fact that the super expensive $135 (PS+E) you pay every year isn't just for online gaming. If you had to tell the truth and also mention that you get 150 games each year too, you probably wouldn't be saying that.
But yh, let's just pretend that all you get for that subscription is to play online.
Where I live is the complete opposite (Brazil), I frequently find Sony physical games for a LOT less than their digital counterparts (which are always expensive and rarely get discounts that makes them cheaper than physical copies).
Call it a rental or whatever but just like with gamepass albeit to a lesser extent the online services have saved me 100s if not 1000s a year with all the free games they throw at me its comical to me when people bring it up as a negativeThis is also disingenuous.
You should mention those 150 games come with a caveat and that is that you need to keep the subscription alive to access them.
Nobody brought it up as a negative. Was just pointing out that it wasn't fully factual.Call it a rental or whatever but just like with gamepass albeit to a lesser extent the online services have saved me 100s if not 1000s a year with all the free games they throw at me its comical to me when people bring it up as a negative

Yeah if there is a choice there is a right way to go digital and it is PC. Consoles don't have exclusives any more and everything is multiplatform. Plus emulation. Seriously. What is the point of a console anymore?Yes. Now protest the end of physical games by switching to an all digital platform on pc.
The PS brand has been living off the 2013 Xbox online DRM debacle since then.
Funny thing is MS reversed it so it never even happened. Yet gamer sentiment still lingers to this day as random people will still bring it up once in a while.
Well look at that, Sony is the same boat. But they stretched out the good PR they got above. But now it's time to dip their toes into heavy anti-consumer tactics since they believe Xbox is done. And Nintendo is their own universe. So now is the right time to strike thinking it's still a slam dunk over Xbox. So gamers will just give in as a gimme.
This time Sony did a triple crown of anti-consumer digital schemes in the same week...... deleted movies off people's accounts, shut down PS3/Vita stores, and no more game discs in 2028.
I want to see how ballsy gamers are who hated Xbox 2013 to do the same with PS. Espeecially if they plan to go through with it. At least MS reversed it by launch. So even if Sony reverses it and adds discs and disc drives again, the intent was still there. And publicly stated too 18 months away from it happening.
Power corrupt. That's what happens when you put Sony without competition and a western focused leadership. The PS brand has been living off the 2013 Xbox online DRM debacle since then.

You think you're being clever with (digital is digital) argument but you're missing the point. On Steam a refund is a button. On PS store the second you hit download your money is gone. PC lets you shop around across different stores for the best price and code sites. Sony forces you into a single monopoly. Sony lacks basic standard consumer features dude.Yes. Now protest the end of physical games by switching to an all digital platform on pc.
Keeping the industry you love alive...unless you just want a bunch of indiesYeah if there is a choice there is a right way to go digital and it is PC. Consoles don't have exclusives any more and everything is multiplatform. Plus emulation. Seriously. What is the point of a console anymore?
15% of games are bought physically but that doesnt mean its 15% of playerbase, its well above that, and no, physical only buyers didnt preorder gta6 didgitally, hell most of digital only buyers didnt either.about 80% of people who complained about the dickless future of PlayStation, just bought a dickless GTA VI on PS5 so.. I dunno..
The issue here was never physical vs. digital vs. streaming.. that's just a red herring designed to blur folk from the true war that's going on. DR-fucking-M, and the sheer lack of digital consumer rights in our space.
That is what must be contested at all costs. Stop Killing Games is the first real push here, but we need many others.
Honestly, I don't understand how gamers as a community haven't all bandied together to take these corporates down.
I don't even think it'd be that hard. You only really need to get the EU to put laws in place. The rest will follow.
I dont think i am gonna get a ps6. They'd have to really blow me away. And I have had every PlayStation. And then there is the price as well.No.
They know you'll get over it, quit being dramatic and buy it anyway.
Once again, everyone clutching pearls right now will be buying a PS6.
Sony is not buying the dramatics.

Errr... that goes without saying, doesn't it? The "subscription" is what gives you online play. The same "subscription" is what gives you 150 games. No subscription, no online play. No subscription, no games. This is also disingenuous.
You should mention those 150 games come with a caveat and that is that you need to keep the subscription alive to access them.
Well... I believe Sony will still make physical codes available to retailers (third-party stores) in some form of packaging to sell. Like amazon, gamestop...etc. It still means they don't have to worry about second-hand sales if those codes are single-use or tied to an account, but it also means other stores can sell them. Kinda the same way GTA6 has a code in the box.You just answered your own question. They are switching off physical retail because it provides competition to PS store. The move is beneficial to Sony and detrimental to the consumer.
The risk for Sony long-term is it moves them closer to being forced to allow third party stores on PS.
Yes.Did you ever think Sony was your friend?
and how do you factor in the 2 free games you get a week (and daily games in December) on the epic store without paying a subscription or needing to pay for an active subscription to access them? Will you still defend the cost to play online with Sony? And that is all just nonsense, like grasping at straws, or pushing a totally outlandish false narrative to make a point.... curated games? Don't wanna play them?... we can't talk about deals on one hand and then chastise someone else for giving you 150 games every year for $135.
Curated or not, that's 90 cents per game. And how many people really pay for that service and don't play at least 2 or 3 of those games each year?
You get everything you have "purchased" in your library, as long as you have the subscription active, and the game hasn't been taken out of rotation. And that's fair, its like being a member at a video club or something, or like renting a game.
So you can choose to look at it as if you are paying to play online, because you will not play ANY of the games they put on there. Or you can choose to look at it as, I can play online, and I get lots of games too.
We certainly did by buying consoles with physical media options -even now - at at least 85% to15%Sorry, but no.
We are our own enemies, as people voted with their wallet for years
No. Everyone is just pretending to be upset. All those people making a big deal of not buying the PS6 will adjust and buy the PS6.
They say they won't, but even they know they will.
Yes I will... different sts, different platforms, different businesses...etc. You don't have to like it, you don't have to use it, it doesn't have to be the best service in the world. But its simply what it is.and how do you factor in the 2 free games you get a week (and daily games in December) on the epic store without paying a subscription or needing to pay for an active subscription to access them? Will you still defend the cost to play online with Sony?
Microsoft repaid Sony for the PS4 run-up by letting Sony announce the physical game futures for both consoles. To be honest, Microsoft should've been first to announce this.
Last gen it became the accepted norm and expectation that physical games be largely unplayable without an internet connection for downloading patches. If you were buying PS4 games on disc, you contributed to that.We certainly did by buying consoles with physical media options -even now - at at least 85% to15%![]()
Is he defending the ending of physical or downplaying it's consequences? This dude's behavior over on icon era made me realized why he's banned. He's honestly unwell - his well being is directly tied to PlayStation and I wonder if he's on Adderall or Straterra because dude can spend 8+ hours locked in fighting for Sony.
They've definitely been dodging it, deliberately, and look how silent they are, they're enjoying the heat Sony is getting over this.Microsoft repaid Sony for the PS4 run-up by letting Sony announce the physical game futures for both consoles.
I wondered the same thing, but I bet Sony is the one who prints Xbox blu-ray discs. IDK how that might complicate matters here as I'd expect that entire operation to wind down. I bet there's a timeline internally for when they plan to stamp their last blu-ray anything already on the calendar. They've definitely been dodging it, deliberately, and look how silent they are, they're enjoying the heat Sony is getting over this.
But MS have started to carve out a way forward through PC, and their supposed hybrid thing. The natural progression for XBOX is to move over to PC and let "XBOX" be a launcher. And the transfer of discs to digital licenses. Only question is if they scrap some of the plans and let Helix get a disc drive just because of this noise. It wouldn't surprise me. Sony just saved them a PR crash and "We hear you" situation.
He's fighting for the death of physical media and saying those who aren't agreeing are luddites. It's kind of unreal...Is he defending the ending of physical or downplaying it's consequences?
I'm not too surprised tbh. As said before, for longtime fans it's quite a big step to pull out of the ecosystem at this point. Some have thousands of dollars invested in the brand, decades of investment. How many are for real willing to pull out and start over elsewhere now? We'll see.
And if they move to PC it means accepting the high cost of hardware. Bad timing, prices are insane right now. Plus repurchase games and start over with no save transfer. And moving to XBOX ain't happening. And Nintendo isn't the same market.
Core PS fans have no smooth way to tackle this, stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I didn't read the entire context of the converastion. My bad!Errr... that goes without saying, doesn't it? The "subscription" is what gives you online play. The same "subscription" is what gives you 150 games. No subscription, no online play. No subscription, no games.
A subscription means you pay for something recurrently. Someone said you need to pay a subscription to get online play, I said that subscription also gets you 150 games. i don't see your point.
Its a package deal... I don't see what sense theer is in pointing out that you need to keep the sub to get the games; don't you also need to keep the sub to get online play? Isn't that what a subscription is? You still have access to Amazon Prime features, or Netflix if you cancel your subscription?
We are talking about a subscription; that member just mentioned that it gives you online play, but failed to mention that it also gives you 150 games a year... and I think the 150 games a year is kinda a big deal, as for most people, that tends to justify the subscription.
