Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

I know i defended ue5 stutter at times, but you have to give credit to id at least for this, you really feel the difference with an engine that has literally zero stutter whatsoever, it almost feels weird to feel THIS fluid.

This used to be the norm back in the day until UE3 and later. Most competetive shooters ran on ID or Source (which itself is based on ID-Tech originally).
UE did not only have stuttering but also bad texture pop in (UE3).

The Crimson Desert salamandra is real? is in-game? Looks CGI...
You can notice when the geometry get a bit less good in the head compared to the rest of the body that is out of focus and look perfect but yeah, high quality rendering for a salamander ingame.

Don't care if it looks like a PS3 or PS4 game, that vista on top of Mt. Yotei is legit one of the prettiest vistas I've seen in a videogame recently. Especially when the sun is setting or rising, it is absurdly beautiful.
Yeah maybe i have shit taste but i thought the art design in yotei was mostly good in the open.
 
Hate that we'll be living in remake world for maybe a decade for the simple fact that its back to male only protags in this series. Hexe better not be cancelled for this memberberry meh, wish they could've added a female Edward option i'd have been excited then but seems we back to women too hard to animate Ubisoft Era.

CPU is not that bad guys. it runs at 3.5 Ghz, has 16 threads, 8 cores, and plenty of IPC gains over jaguar.

just run any current gen game on your pc right now and see how much the cpu is being utilized. no one is using the CPU. DF said the same thing about starfield because it didnt run well on a the zen 2 3600 on PC. Well, Bethesda optimized and shipped a 60 fps mode a year later. if bethesda can do it.....

the main problem will be multithreading all the NPC and traffic simulations and if there is one studio that can do it, its rockstar. remember what that ex-ND/Rockstar artist said. Rockstar has dedicated 30-40 person teams just to handle small animations like picking up ladders and climbing while ND's entire animation team was 30-40 people. rockstar will just throw numbers on it. its 3000 devs. 7 studios all working on one game for 8 years. A lot of them programmers. if they can make rdr2 run on PS4 with those visuals, draw distance and lighting, they can figure out multithreading.

i havent seen any destruction either. so it has to be just NPC routines and traffic. plus whatever CPU cost is on RT which they can always disable for the performance mode like AC shadows did last year. though, even they've figured out how to run RTGI at 60 fps on base consoles with black flag.

Starfield drops to 30fps in cities on consoles. They didn't optimize much.
 
I bet Digital Foundry is getting a lot of "sponsorships" under the table, to say nonsense as that.
Theyre pretty much a 3rd party marketing company for game studios and hw manufacturers at this point (Rich does nvidia sponsored videos every few months) rather than the objective technical breakdown video makers that they pose as. They are hardly on the side of gamers, well at least outside of the rare instances of alex bitching about terrible ports.

they are just fanboys especially John who loves all things playstation and Nintendo. 3rd party games receive far more scrutiny than first party studios they like. Every single switch 1 port was labeled a miracle port even though they looked like pixelated garbage running at 360p. every cross gen game from sony was a masterpiece. they just want to suck up to their favorite devs and that includes id software and playground games just so they can get some extra interviews. Alex does this with nvidia. Put some path tracing in anything and he would include it in his top 3.

And thats just the titles. the amount of cum guzzling in TLOU1, Death Stranding 2, Ragnorak and Ghost of Yotei reviews was sickening. John for a brief moment in his review, actually began to criticize ragnorak for being a ps4 game potentially limiting its scope, and then literally in the same breath, called its visuals a triumph. he constantly makes excuses for insomnaic, most recently when he realized that even he couldnt defend those wolverine visuals, and resorts to the good enough excuse for games like Saros. Dude you are a tech reviewer, good enough? making excuses is not your job. they see themselves as an extension of the PR for these lazy studios.
