Starfox |OT| Copilot.....Do a Barrel roll!

Looks like Velan did a fine job, I hope they have other projects with Nintendo in the pipeline.

It's funny to realize in hindsight this series has actually seen pretty consistent releases across multiple genres. On consoles only the Wii had no Starfox whatsoever.

So that's who's developing this game? Nintendo is so good at finding underdeveloped talent and coaching them through a solid release. This is huge for that team!
 
Demo was excellent, they hit the mark perfectly. Only problem for me is I already played this game like literally a hundred times as a kid. I don't understand the rationale of remaking the exact same levels and enemies.

If they throw some remixes, different modes, something, then I'll be interested but otherwise I dunno if it's worth it. Feels like such wasted potential, but maybe they are banking on a new generation of players + nostalgia building some momentum for a sequel with fresh levels.
 
12 year old me got this game for Christmas along with Goldeneye and a Nintendo 64. It was the best Christmas ever, and the last time I ever got a console as a gift from my parents.

I purchased my Switch 2 just for Ocarina of Time and this game. I even preferred to buy the standard version without Mario Kart to get Star Fox instead.

There's going to be a very good flow of games starting this year, so it's going to be great to own a Switch 2
 
I'm frustrated by some of the reviews, calling on rails shooters a dated genre and not noting the budget pricing are big red flags.

Ironically enough the Digital Foundry review told me everything I need to know, it's a better looking Star Fox 64, it's one of the best looking games on the Switch 2, get it.

I knew what I was getting into with the first trailer. Can't wait and the game looks amazing!

It's a nostalgia hook and probably Nintendo's way to establish and test an engine with an audience that has emotional stakes in it before they create a new entry into the series.

Just like they did with the Link's Awakening remake to eventually create Zelda Echoes of Wisdom.

You're right, I'm just concerned that the reviews will prevent people who have never played the game before from trying it out, hampering sales and preventing a true sequel from getting the green light.

New one sounds like actual characters talking. Wolf and Pigma lines are imo way better in particular.

Probably, but it's fair to say that a energetic game needs energy on voices, and the N64 delivered. Now is just not there

Yeah that is super annoying, for sure!

Thankfully there's a demo and there's probably enough of us nostalgia guys out there to keep it afloat. Especially when a ton of older people pick up a Switch 2 when Ocarina of Time comes out. I would imagine they have memories of Star Fox 64, too.

My buddy that only games on PC texted me yesterday and said "did you see they're releasing Zelda 64 on Switch 2?? I've gotta buy one now"

I told him about Star Fox and he said he's gotta have that, too.
 
Still waiting for Nintendo UK to ship my pre-order (from early May). It's marked as "Awaiting dispatch" but should have been sent out already.
Asked the Support team what was going on but they're useless and just throw out their copy & paste template answers.

And to top things off, there's no "Cancel order" option on their store… you have to contact their Support team. Idiotic.
 
I'm sold.
Will play this docked using the Pro Controller. This looks like a game that will kill the joycon sticks in one afternoon.
I've never played a Starfox game before. I've only ever seen it in passing at friends' houses way back in the day. I only remember flashing polygon wireframe looking stuff.
 
My copy shipped, and it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

My son asked if he could play it first when it comes in, will probably let him since I'm not done with Elliot just yet.
 
I just caved in and ordered a switch 2, there's some really good games on Nintendo's platform and i don't want to miss out.
I'm just going to use it exclusively in docked mode hooked up to my TV as my eyes are fucked and the screen is far too small.
Starfox will be one of the first games i buy along with the Zelda games.

I've been PC only since 2019
 
My PC only friend just texted me and said he's picking up a Switch 2 tomorrow with StarFox.

He also wants Ocarina of Time.

Pretty wild coming from him. He doesn't like owning consoles.
