StarFox looks insane

these graphics are not insane looking or even close to being impressive. like cmon. do we live in different planet now? Nothing is insane graphically about this. the Switch 2 can produce much better graphics than this and already did.

You are correct, but Nintendo fans are easy to astound graphically.

Here's some old combat space sim (i.e. same genre as Star Fox) graphics that are "amazing" by Switch 2 standards:

X: Rebirth released 2013

Galaxy on Fire released 2010

Aces of the Galaxy released 2008

If these all got ported to Switch 2 with some modern shaders slathered on top they'd have "insane graphics", apparently.

Man. Like ugh there not much to the game, why screw up what little is there..
Seems like a gross oversight. It was a combination of the hull hit and the flashing light. Doesn't seem to have either.

Might be a deal breaker for me.

Edit: it does have a sound effect but it's a metallic tink, not a chunky sounding hull hit

not the most impressive mission of the game imo. looks fine, but not super impressive.

Nintendo arrived at the PS4 level of visual quality with it for sure, but I'd have loved to see the actual first mission with the water n stuff

I was already sold on the game, but after playing the demo, I'm frankly blown away. The game looks incredible and it plays SO smooth.

Don't get me wrong, I love Star Fox 64, but now that I see how good the gameplay here is, I wish they would have just made a new game. Or at least changed up the levels a bit.

I'm really hoping this game pops off for them, cause I want a proper sequel so badly.
This is the proper sequel.

Has way more variety than Star Fox 64, and evolves the mechanics.

I'm really impressed with the HDR on my LG G3 OLED, looks GREAT, still feels weird seeing Nintendo games in HDR though. Better late than never I suppose. Just imagine HDR on Zelda and Mario.

Looks decent but the issue with Nintendo is games like this shouldn't be this expensive. This should be the price range of indie/smaller games.
Considering I paid $50 for snes starfox 30 some years ago and you can buy the cart for $50 now is that so bad. The game is quality after playing the demo.

I do like Assault, and I think it's underrated. But it still didn't live up to 64 for me.

Liked the demo way more than I thought I would. The feel is updated a little and I felt like it was a tiny bit more challenging to get your score up, which is where the fun is for SF64 imo.

Plus the music is all real orchestra when the biggest issue in the original was the cheap n64 synth sounds. It sounds fantastic.

I liked the cutscenes too. Meteo is maybe the worst level by far because just not a lot happens in it, and even that felt much more fun. So if THAT level is pretty fun I can't wait for this.

I played this a few weeks ago for the first time. The Arwing-missions are fine, although not as good as Star Fox 64, but the on foot missions are complete and utter trash. I even think Zero is better than this.
The on foot missions have a dual stick aiming options, meaning it's control scheme will be that of modern TPS.

Give that a shot.

😁

SF64 is great, but Assault is the longer and more complete game tbh.

I'm sorry, but when it comes to space opera, you just can't beat CW. It still looks incredibly cool to this day, and that soundtrack is absolutely insane.

Perfect timestamp:

Why did it have to release so close to my birthday, I already have way too much stuff to play... the Skitarii in Darktide in two weeks, the Fangs of Asterkarn DLC for Grim dawn one month later, and I've finally decided to finish Xenoblade 1 and start the other ones... :messenger_pensive:

Assault is sadly mid. I like the story and music all right but everything game feel wise felt like a plastic knock off.

The only post sf64 game thats good is Adventures but thats a zelda clone not sf...

The game looks and controls very tight. Everything is easy to see with good contrast. Aiming feels right and the Pro 2 controller's stick is the opposite of the N64's grinding design.

A deluxe, luxury limousine way to play Starfox 64, that is still Starfox 64. That's a good thing, but make a sequel in this engine please, or minimally DLC it out adding planets like MK8.

I wonder whether OOT will be very faithful in the core game part like Starfox, or mix things up more like a RE remake...

WTF!!! When they announced this I thought it was a new Starfox game. It's just a re-skinned Lylat Wars.

This combined with them remaking Ocarina of Time for the 97th time demonstrates that Nintendo without Iwata is a lazy directionless shell of its former self.

I was getting the game anyway- but i was excited to try the demo on the off chance the game wasnt as good as remembered.
Yea- still amazing. Demo was awesome. Day one

Menu music is an updated version of orginal. I'm guessing most will be remakes of the original songs.

Insane is a bit of a stretch. "pretty nice" is a little more realistic. Not sure if I'm a fan anymore of the on rails gameplay which is a bummer because the SNES game was one of my favorites.

I checked out the demo last night and I have to agree, the game looks fantastic! I was actually kind of impressed if I'm being honest; even more so that a relatively unknown studio (Velan) worked on it. Mario Kart: Home Tour wasn't exactly the most cutting edge game outside of the hardware (R/C kart) aspect.

I swear some of you actually believe that we're bound to have only one platform and that none of us play primarily on PC lol.

Edit: And holy shit man, Star Fox looks like a literal gen above your examples 😂
