Stellar Blade 2 | Summer Game Fest Trailer

I'm not mad at people for not liking the game. I just disagree.

If you wanna try to get the game cancelled now we got an issue.

You have the right to of course not buy. I personally think this will be a huge hit either way. If you also wanna judge me for buying hey nobody cares. Do it. Go wild. I believe in making people live by their own rules so this is perfectly legal and fine considering the shit we have to put up with for others freedom. Freedom is scary yo. IMHO deal with it.

Cheers!

Sony fucked up, I mean obviously it's coming to PS5 but the should have secured this, idiots
They've done five strikes in my book:

1.) The fumbling of the Demon's Souls IP and effectively handing it to Bandai Namco (Dark souls) who saw the potential
2.) They could've had talked with Psyonix about a closer partnership early on (Supersonic acrobatic rocket-powered battle cars, a PS3 PSN exclusive) before they began working on Rocket league, but didn't react on it
3.) Letting go off Ueda (disbanding team Olympic overall), same with Toyama, and closing down Japan studio
4.) Not securing some kind of priority deal on Stellar blade to let them have the right to reject any publishing opportunity
5.) Letting go off John Garvin and Jeff Ross from Sony Bend

Its gonna sound harsh, but whoever is responsible for these continued oversights needs their shit straightend out or get replaced with someone who has a gamer-centric mind, is more competent and more attentive to these opportunities whenever they arise and missteps. Sony is both bleeding talent and has missed so many early bird chances for developing closer business ties or partnerships. They're is sleeping at the wheel.

Then there's the whole audacity and hubris with how the California SIE HQ demanded and treated the JP Sony branch (Japan studio) to communicate to them in English only. It gets further ironic when you look at the drop in quality on the offerings from the western studios in recent times.

Because those idiots went overboard with the comments. Some calling eve even a 8 years old lmao
I'm surprised they didn't ban the guy on the first page who wrote "day one".

Very good point from a person with Korean heritage.

No one is wrong for saying that Asians tend to look younger. But he's being hyperbolic with Western beauty standards and projecting comment. With the right makeup and photographer, a lot of Korean actors and actresses can look really young. That picture is of IU, an actress/singer. This is her in her last K-Drama:

This is her years ago in My Mister:

She does not look anything remotely close to this:

I've seen 1000s of K-Drama episodes, and I've never seen an adult who remotely looks like that or could pull off that look.

I don't need a Korean to tell me what a young Korean looks like and what an adult looks like.

There are also Koreans out there who think she looks a little too young:

Watching SGF, there were two games that made me think, "Yeah, this is obviously a Korean game," but I reacted to them differently.

Aion 2: Okay, typical Korean-game female character design.

New Stellar Blade: Jesus, are you trying to get called pedos??
"

In the title shot where she's facing the camera she could be anywhere between 16-30, but I would guess early 20s.

In the pictures with the coat she looks ~12. In the picture where she's looking toward left of frame she could be boy or girl.

I think if we'd only seen her post coat removal this wouldn't even have become a thing.

I knew this thread would devolve in to the sex police rounding up petite lovers in to the concentration camps. You can't argue or reason with these people so don't bother trying.

Always happens anytime someone isn't into thunder thighs and obese tits. Never change, internets.
I'm 6'2". My wife is 4'11". Nearly all of my girlfriends prior to her were 5'3" or less. This isn't about Evie being petite. This is about her very much looking like a girl in her early to mid teens and the fact that this game, like the first one, which might I add again, I loved and was ready to buy the sequel day one, will have lots of camera zooms on her T&A throughout the game.

You can have a sexy adult heroine and have all the T&A you want, but once your character looks like a child, you simply can't do that.

Wait they didnt do a western west coast style subversion and give a trans masculine woman with a square jaw

But... I thought thats where all the money is

Char reminded of this

Stellar Blade was a fun flawed game and im glad Shift Up told sony to fuck off with their censoring ways and decided to make the game fully by themselves now
Shuhei Yoshida was at shiftup when it was in early dev, saw game, liked it and told sony to give them money to make it bigger and better. They literally dropped updates with sexy outfits and boob press physics even months after release. Are you retards just trying to revise history? Reveal trailer had same ass shots everywhere, there were women literally bitching about it back in 2021

100% agreed.

Congratulatiions Shift up... you really fumbled te ball on this one just for the sake of generating flame war... Evie did not have the need to hve the face of a twelve year old girl (not young, im saying CHILD) and anyone taht is posting photos of young women knows that there is wrong with this design is its deflecting for the sake of deflecting.

Can't have this character? You gonna stop us all from playing or something?

Julia in Tekken 3. 18 years old.

Clearly an adult/late teen.

Hey man. Play whatever the fuck you want. But I'm allowed my opinion. And my opinion is they went too far with aging this character down.

And let me repeat, I was a huge fan of SB1. Downloaded the demo. Played 15 minutes of it. Immediately pre-ordered the full game and got it Day One. Then I bought all the DLC and the soundtrack.

I was an immediate day one buyer of SB2. Until they decided to have their lead character look like a very young teen girl or, depending on the angle and lighting, look like an androgynous teen. You're going to be given sexy costumes for her and the camera is going to zoom in on her body, specifically her tits and ass, from all different angles. I am not comfortable with that.

They decided to go for pedo bait and they lost at least one guaranteed customer, me, because of that choice.

Exactly my thoughts. I too mistook her to be a young boy until the cloak came off. But after that, she clearly looks like an adult. Plenty of baby faced Asians out there. So are people who sleep with them pedos? That's ridiculous. If it wasn't just her face but her entire design that looked adolescent, then I can understand the uproar. Weird nitpicky controversy to be honest. Didn't even know this was a problem until I came in here now.

They are not backing down.

Good

Let's be honest, parts of Asia has always been weird with their fixation on super young girls.

I don't wanna see that fixation cross over into realistic renders of video game characters. It is borderline. Stellar Blade 2 is borderline. I need to see more of it first but Stellar Blade did cross over into erotica territory, and from what I see of this character, I don't wanna see that here.

It's Dark Souls 2 all over again, but in reverse! You go up, but end up below active vulcano!!

for real tho, who was responsible for the map design in DS2?
did they just randomly stick areas together like some kids using a level editor for the first time? 🤣

That's actually what happened yeah. Game was supposed to be open-world but they weren't able to pull it off, so the end result is a Frankestein's monster of areas stitched together.

It's kind of an unusual situation because typically the woke/BS crowd will oppose sexualising adult women but approve of sexualising children, and vice versa for the anti-woke crowd.

Here you are getting mixed responses across those groups flowing from whether the individual is looking at these pictures and seeing a child or an adult. A reaction I expect is significantly informed by whichever images of the character they happened to see first.

Eh, IDK.
Here's that actress in an ad from 8 years a go (when she was around 25). With standard Korean makeup and lighting to make her look young rather than screenshot you posted that is more serious and grounded role.

Looks petty young to me and not too different from the this new character:

I think most people just think she could be older and isn't trying to get the game canceled or judge people for buying it.

There's obviously inbetweens but if I have to split the three groups that are involved in this whole Stellar Blade thing now, it'll be

Group 1 - The defenders of stellar blade 2

Group 2 - The crazy purple psychopaths who have always hated Stellar Blade and were mad that the first one did so well and are hoping this current thing would either get the game canceled or flop, and will also be angry at anyone who is getting this game.

Group 3 - People that didn't have a problem with the stellar blade 1 and do think stellar blade 2 looks amazing but is not trying to cancel the game nor call people pedos for but just wish she could be older and hope they do make her older more like how the protagonist and the other characters of the first game is(excluding Lily of course).

Group 2 obviously shouldn't be taken seriously but those are mostly on resetera and I haven't really seen it here although I haven't read a lot of posts here either. But there's a lot of folks in group 3 because this clearly is a thing a lot of people felt when they saw it. It's not just a thing where only a very small minority of crazy woke folks in their own little bubble disliking it like Stellar Blade 1 but a lot of normal sane folks also felt she looked a bit too young cause she does at least in some of the shots which are more so than others. But most of these folks myself included will still be buying it day 1 just felt she could be older and look more like the others in part 1 instead cause they had the perfect blueprint with a mix of sexy and being a young adult.

I do agree that whatever happens, this game is most likely going to be a big hit in sales either way.

Gemini also said this about it
Digital characters, such as the one in the Stellar Blade images, often fall into a trap where they are too polished. By smoothing out those real-world indicators of age (like pores or minor variations in skin tone) to achieve a "perfect" look, the character can inadvertently slide into looking younger or more "doll-like" than the artist intended.
I think that's correct, that's why her character model slips back and forth, if Shiftup can get her looking more like this all the time, that will be better then the other parts when she looks chubby with porcelain skin

Playing again stellar blade on ps5 with all this drama in social media about sb2 😁
Lol I have the itch to go back and finish the game. What little I played of it was fun and a nice challenge, plus it also has some really nice music.

Have fun!

If you're complaining about Evie being too young, please contact GOG and Steam and demand that they remove Messiah from their stores.
You want to be consistent, don't you?

That's literally how she looks in the other "controversial" shot. This is a different pose and mouth slightly open causing the cheeks to stretch.

It's crazy if we need to be modifying expressions and facial animation so random person on internet doesn't feel guilty for being turned on by a baby face or for people guilt tripping others for that reason. Everyone needs to get a grip

The actress who did her face modelling should come out and call these people weirdos.

Have they've seen the Capcom Face models? It's genetic lottery + digital makeup. I think a lot of these people are frustrated with their appearances and lash out on the game devs.

the ones who got censored because it showed too much cleavage?
The censored outfits (which were later returned) were from the day one patch.

You don't even know what you're talking about.

So again, when were all the DLCs released?
Oh that's right, after release. Not in 2018.

I played the game 5 times and got platinum last 2024. I replayed the boss battle challenge last 2025. This was my 2024 game of the year. I went back now after playing bf6, and it reminded me again how beautiful and sexy is Eve. And,wow ,there are so many updates and even new costumes and artbook that I missed due to not playing the game for a long time. I love the combat and atmosphere of this game. Reminded me how fun the Parry, dodge, attack, and even shooting in this game. Sony had a gem and the shift up and sony xdev did a wonderful job. It is a big lost to Sony losing the IP and exclusivity of SB. Note: the artbook is so beautiful
