Control Resonant - PS5 Pro Gameplay

Its remedy animations, they also going for responsivenes instead of animation quality, they cant do both :) Their animations always looks kinda jank
Maybe it doesn't help that I'm not a massive fan of melee combat.

disappointed bummer GIF

I want to like it, but the enemy design keeps getting weirder and wierder. WTF is up with that half head with an afro? What kind of drugs were they doing?

These sort of devil may cry games have a very vocal base of enthusiast fans but they never really seem to blow the roof off in terms of popularity. But I don't have a basic problem with animations being skipped or cancelled in an action game.

Eh, not feeling it. I liked Control but this is even more weird and I kind of wish they kept ranged combat.

I think this will be great for what it is but just not my cup of tea.

I was a remedy fan before they went woke and would have bought anything blindly day 1 from them but I'm not feeling this one so far. And thanks to their wokeness this will be a sale buy at best.

- Control, IMO, was one of the best games of previous gen
- I so wanted a sequel
- Got extremely hyped with the reveal

...and yet, I'm not feeling this at all for some reason, maybe it's the onslaught in September but, yeah...

I loved Control and am going to buy this but this game feels like it's missing all the elements that made the first one so great. I liked the Metroid style exploration of oldest house and this one just seems chaotic and linear and completely removed from any sort of reality at all. The twilight zone tone of the first gave it a real mysterious and interesting vibe that seems to be replaced by just straight horror and fantasy. Not to mention the switch from jedi powered gunplay to more melee focused combat. I'm cautiously optimistic but we just wanted more Control, not a reinvention in the same narrative world.

I loved the reveal, but the gameplay looks trash, honestly what have Remedy done? they used to have so much character to their games, this just feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be and it's not good at any of what it tries.

Visuals are awesome but I dont know yet how I feel about the gameplay

Boss fight looked boring. 2-3 hits then you have to chase it to the other side of the arena and repeat.

Then the fight with the group of enemies. It looked way too chaotic, and not in a good, Returnal/Saros way. Visibility was shit from all the visual effects. And I dunno if Remedy will pull of a character action driven game on their first try.

And let's be honest: even if it turns out good, it will still sell like shit in September.

Remedy cant catch a break

Remedys is still my favorite dev but they have been deep up there ass smelling there own Avant Garde Farts for the last 8 years it seems.

They went way way to surreal with there games and should of stuck with a better balance between grounded and surreal like with Max Payne1 through Quantum Break.

Loved Control and bought it day 1. But this... I really don't know.

I feel like Remedy has gone way too far in the wierdness scale with this one. I usually prefer slightly more more grounded games like Max Payne 1 and 2. Yeah, the first Control wasn't exactly a grounded game either, but it somehow managed to hit a nice balance between wierd and normal that just worked for me. This seems to be way too much for me though. The enemies and levels are too abstract and everything just looks too "high fantasy" and trippy.

Also, movement and animations look janky. I hope this is one of those games where you need to be playing hands-on to feel it, as just watching these gameplay videos sure doesn't look too hot. I can see this fever dream of a game bombing hard, unfortunately.

Gameplay wise it looks like it has little to do with the first game, just like Alan Wake 2 had little to do with the first game. Seems to be Remedy's thing with sequels.

Although that could be a good thing as Control was boring pretentious garbage. Sorry i tried to like the game many times over the years but it just send me to sleep.

Runs and jumps with light speed like a big action game.

Never played the first Control game. Was it this action packed?

As others side, it doesn't look like Control. Like Control had action (cause of the enemies that respawn every room which was annoying), but it was 3rd person shooter with guns and use of stuff like telekinetic abilities to supplement it.

This looks like a slower 3D Hades or something. And way more psychedelic. Where Control 1 felt more grounded with the mix of the Paranormal Science flavor.

What's going to be next?

A live service game multiplayer with Jess, Alan Wake and this dude all together in the same game?

Hard to tell, if it would be good, sometimes it looks good, but only a second later looks meh. I have to probably play it first.

Very sad to see how far Remedy has fallen from Max Payne. Maybe the animation will be fixed, but nothing in the combat feels fresh, and that entire all red area, I can't see shit and where I'm suppose to be.

It feels like weird for the sake of weird. Max Payne drug levels were amazing.

What the fuck is up with those animations. It looks plastic.

Vick Vick what the hell is going on these days?

Which ones?

Running and traversal, jumping up.

It just seems... Off and unnatural movements

Precisely. Neither 1st one had a great movement animation. It was janky. Anyway, it is Remedy
