Yeah, I think people are failing to understand what the problem here is. Speaking for myself anyway, I don't have a problem with any of those bullet points in and of themselves. It's just that there's good reason to think that these characteristics and similar ones are being put into lots of media as part of an undisclosed agenda that takes precedence over just making good media. Mostly it's the being lied to about whether this agenda even exists that pisses me off.

I'd say that as long as you're up-front with what you're doing, and don't try to hide things, then it's fine. You've informed people, and they can make their informed choice on whether they want to buy whatever it is.

I don't think it's made to be offensive, I think it's meant to subvert the 'handsome hero saves the damsel in distress' trope which many male gamers love.
