[Bloomberg] Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC (Ghost of Yotei port and other internally developerd games scrapped)

I did not think there was much risk in putting games on pc because the console and pc crowds seem different. But looking at the state of Xbox has me thinking Sony is making the right move here.
 
They tried to make games available, we know exclusives are not effective in selling consoles,

If the they kept releasing their single player games on PC, the portalble PS6 would have no leverage as other more powerful PC handhelds can play those games arguably better. Same for PS6

Hard to argue with someone who has Twitter brain rot. Not everything is woke and you should be able to differentiate Schreier's biased opinions vs inside sources within the industry. He has been right more than wrong so I'm not sure why doubt him now other than you don't like his politics.

Maybe if Grummz posts about it then you can believe it.

As GP has demonstrated, many people are in the hiding of stop paying or paying less if given the opportunity.

That's why you don't have to show them a no cost way out of your ecosystem.

So how do u call 120lbs tiny 5'2 female manhandling adult muscular men? Coz thats how gameplay of this game looked to me, and i only saw snippets of it from trailers :P
It wasnt kill bill case where protag is more agile/skilled/smarter/more experienced but she fights like she literally has more physical strenght from much taller/wider/muscular males, almost abby style xD

Sony set up this whole experiment up for failure and never made a real attempt

They never even gave specific time lines for when games would come it was completely random, one game would come after 6 months and another would come after 2 years, this made me lose interest in buying them

If they would have been more clear with what they were doing and all games got the same time line or if all games released day 1 even the sales would have been completely different, maybe that's what they were hoping for though maybe they wanted it to fail so they could say it didn't work

The people cautioned that things could change in the future due to the unpredictable nature of the video-game industry and that Sony's plans are constantly shifting.

This whole thing seems like a non story so far. If Yotei is next and Sony stick to a 2 year window for single player tentpole games we won't see proof until late 2027 for the PC release no show.

I dont believe anything changed, its also too soon for any real proof. Makes good click bait for Bloomberg.

Yeah I know it's not about list wars, it's was a facetious comment.

I agree first party games this gen have been poor, have had little interest in them. But if there is a situation where Intergalactic, Wolverine, God of Mom etc are all exclusive to PlayStation added to GTA6 not be on PC at launch it's going to attract plenty of interest to the console.

Yotei seems woke because the actress for Atsu and some of Sucker Punch's developers are woke, namely that one former developer that was a complete ghoul regarding Charlie Kirk's murder. However, the personal politics of those people did not leak into the game itself.

Maaaaaybe if they released day and date together with all that marketing fanfare there`d be a chance for them to attract a bigger audience. But silently releasing 1+ years later they simply immediately drowned in people`s backlogs.

Mario games never try to be for adults or even tiny bit realistic tho and even there u got strong masculine male aka donkey kong or bowser doing physical stuff, not tiny fragile females :P
 
This sucks. I really was looking forward to a Ghost of Yotei port or a Saros port. The PC ports of Returnal and The Last of Us were really good too. UGH.

Tbf, the only single player game that did significant numbers for Sony was Stellar Blade. In fact, it got a higher CCU than several of the biggest franchises like Horizon, The Last of Us, and God of War, and that's including the sequels as well lol. The only other game that would have gotten better numbers would have been Bloodborne but that doesn't look like that's happening, so this isn't too surprising. Outside of Stellar Booty they've been mostly treading waters when it comes to single player PC releases.
 
Yes, that's all well and good, but... at least there should be games for the PS5! Sony's support is lacklustre, to say the least. They need to get a move on. If AAA games are too expensive, they should switch to smaller but more sensible productions, given their numerous dormant IPs.
 
I think it's the right call business wise but it's kind of funny they do this after they've already released most of their better games from PS4/PS5 era.

Line is drawn at it being quasi realistic, aka he couldnt kill k's on mongols, but he could few of them and super believable to kill them 1on1, not in case of tiny fragile female who by default has strenght of 12yo boy, she cant manhandle adult males even if they are on deadbed :P

Characters you play in video games tend to be superhuman, yes, including women, or do you think guys like Nathan Drake or Jin Sakai who defeat entire enemy camps by themselves are realistic?
 
How are important are PS exclusives really right now?

3rd party publishers will publish every single game on PC, so PC owners will only miss out on Sony published single player games. That's 2 or 3 games a year. That's at most 12 games till PS6 is released. Is that enough to entice a PC owner to buy a PS5 console considering the absolutely ridiculous number of games that are released for PC?

maybe this was true in 1995, but ever since the 360/ps3 generation, the PC is competing with consoles for this audience. It's why Sony released the PS4 Pro - they saw people leaving PS3 for PC and wanted to keep them. So, continuing with this logic, it makes sense to not give people a reason to leave PlayStation.
