Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

Why is raccoon city such a downgrade compared to the rest of the game. Level looks like last gen assets compared to the best of RE9. 😭
What are you playing on? On pro the raccoon city part looked phenomenal. Usually when there is a level that's grey with broken buildings it looks bad but on my pro the lighting, compared with the texture quality and dust effects looked great

The more i play this the more i think to myself 'How the hell did Grace make it through FBI training!'

Sweet Mother of God, I just pissed myself when you came a cross that thing for the first time.

First a fucking huge jumpscare with that guy that falls of the door, and them that thing...and no ink ribbons left to save 😭😭😭

This game at night, with headphones...

Dude they got me with the whole stay in the light. I thought the Monster couldnt get into rooms with the light on. Turns out its a fucking berserker and sometimes it manages to kill off the lights 😭😭😭

And with the headphones, you can fucking feel its right behind you.

10+ head shots for a crimson head seems a bit too excessive and there is lots of them.
Blister heads? You're doing something wrong.

Your goal is to knock them over so you can hatchet them to finish them off.

Think it's 3-4 to the head, they stagger, then kick them over to finish with hatchet.

Im 8 hours in, but so far every Leon section was so short :(

By the time im getting into the killing mood its over. Why there is no merc mode capcom

Second half of the game is for you and me. Don't you worry. Game overall is 60% Leon 40% Grace.

You have to shot them once with the shotgun, then go next to them, shotgun headshot, they will get stunned, then hatchet to the head. Should take 2 or 3 shotgun shots. There's plenty of ammo too. Do not use the pistol

So I just finished with the bike scene with Gideon and the dogs. wtf was this Capcom. Did we really need uncharted set pieces in here. 😂😂😂😂😂.

With Leon is a no brainer, killing them with Grace is the real challange cause she just has that weak ass handgun

It took me a while to figure out how to avoid it... But very tense moments.... loved it.

Man, didnt them showed up for you guys during Grace segment ? Its only me that had 4 roaming around during Grace gameplay ?

Leon is a one man army, they dont represent any danger to him.

They are easier with grace. You either sneak by or sneak up and use the hypo to one shot.

Might be time to flip it to casual mode bud. 😂

Been putting a few hours into it over the past couple days.

For better or worse, it feels almost identical to 7 and 8. If this was meant to be some kind of reinvention, it really doesn't land.

And for something that's being framed as a "farewell" to the series' legacy, it barely addresses any of the lingering plot threads. If anything, it just piles on more questions instead of resolving anything meaningful.

And I genuinely don't get the praise for Victor. Are we playing the same game? He comes off completely one-dimensional, and that snakeskin raincoat makes every scene he's in worse.

I'm only at Rhodes Hill, so maybe the story picks up, but at this point it's hard to care about new characters when the series already has such an established roster.

Starting to feel like Capcom thinks RE fans will just eat anything up without questioning it.

If you've only put a few hours into it tho then you should prob wait before judging the story, I thought it was better than the initial reactions I got from the leaks when you get it in actual context and everything.

Jesus. I don't think I've ever had a bone chilling feeling like walking into the rpd in all my gaming life. And than the music starts. 😮‍💨😭

The stalker enemy gimmick was worn out after 15 minutes in RE2.

It's been a blight to the series ever since and this is no different.
This is true though, when I saw any of those it's just a waiting game either maybe behind their back or just moving back to a save room. After let's say after the first encounter it's just a nuisance with some understanding of these recent games.

I just played through the first two Grace (and first Leon) sections.

This is very cinematic / movie-like which I think is normally a bit of a slight on a game, but they're doing it really well here. Already a couple of wow moments here very early on. The game looks and sounds great, it has that feeling of the world you inhabit being a narrow corridor with lots of pretty things around it (try and step into the road on the opening section) but despite that, it feels like a nice visual upgrade over previous efforts. Though I must admit, I thought 7 and 8 looked excellent too (though even in 9 faces are a bit iffy).

My early impression is that I'm expecting zero replay-ability from this as a result of the linear, and interactive movie feel of some of it, so my recommendation is to try and make your first play through count. Only play it when you are able to give it 100% and definitely crank the difficulty up.

The game having typewriter ribbons again is less restrictive on this game thanks to quick resume on Xbox, but nonetheless I ended up not needing either of the two I picked up. So, I'm not too worried about that being a source of frustration.

I will say that running feels basically the same as walking, I couldn't actually tell if I was running when the game told me to. Or am I doing it wrong?

Either way, seems great so far jump on it and play it before someone spoils it for you.

The stalker gimmick is more interesting in this game tho than in RE2 or 3, because of the whole light thing.
It's not just chasing you it's a bit more involved than that.

The customization options for the audio allowed me to experience this with sound that really makes my cans shine and I can hear everything in proximity. 3D audio isn't something I experienced, until recently.

You didn't play it? What's fun about watching someone else play games?
I enjoyed watching people play RE7 and 8 500 times more than playing them myself lol, I didn't like playing them to begin with tho but they were fun to watch.
Almost feels like they were made to be streamer games.

"I'm expecting zero replay-ability from this"
First time I ever heard this about a RE game (outside of 6)

I agree, but some simps are cool with watching others play. I'll never understand it myself. Even in the brief time period when I was struggling financially to even rent games, I wouldn't want to even hear people talking about what I was missing out on.

I just think we are in an age where some are ok without playing games and consuming the story through twitch or whatever.

That's fucking ridiculous to me. Because the best video game story is still just "ok" in terms of movie/tv writing. So they'd be better off just watching some new movie or show.

I actually tend to watch horror games a lot come to think of it, probably because I am too scared to play most of them myself lmao.
RE tho I can manage.

I'm gonna make al

Use the acid bottles, don't waste handgun bullets, it's very easy to walk past them too.

If there is a game I don't to play why would I want to waste my time watch someone else play it? I rather put that time to play the game I want to play.

Finished; GOTY

Capcom gonna have a nut busting year.

This, pragmata, onimusha, and a MH expansion? Shiiiiiiiiit.

I'll be curious to see what tops this for GOTY for me. This is a high ass bar set right from the jump. Could definitely happen though with titles like Saros, Wolverine, and GTA6 on the horizon.

Lets hope it doesn't get to their head ( again ) and they become Crapcom again.
They have a history of this going back and forth.

Really not a fan of Grace gameplay.
This stalker enemy stuff gets really tiring
Grace segments > Leon segments for me.

I much prefer Grace's slower, survival focused segments where resources are tight and there's actual tension. With Leon I'm just mowing shit down like it's nothing. I still think it's impressive how they've stitched together two clearly very different design ideas into a single game without it ever becoming disjointed.

Only use the magnum or the rifles on them. Anything else is a waste of ammo and a risk
Better yet, around 3 headshots to make them vulnerable just to inject them with blades injectors to blow em up.
Magnum should be used on bosses or lined up enemies like 3 at least.

Grace segments > Leon segments for me.
Its interesting to see how much people liking Grace segment more than Leon. When RE9 was coming out people thought Grace segment gonna be chore while Leon gonna be true "RE" game.

I personally really enjoying Leon segments but I agree that Grace segment is more fun and in fact the true RE gameplay. Still Leon segments is 1000000000 times better than Chris section in RE7&8.

Just finished my first playthrough on standard. Unfortunately the game fucking crashed right as the achievement popped (first time I had any problem with the game) so I didn't get to see my results. But I'm going to guess it's about 10 hours since the other ending clocked in at 9:41. Was fairly thorough but I apparently missed a couple optional areas for files/items. Oh well.

I really enjoyed it overall but am going to need at least one more playthrough for a proper opinion. This didn't feel like an especially replayable game to me plus the lack of extra modes.

I saw Tofu twice at the RPD! That mother fucker was bouncing around outside the windows!

That's so backwards I don't know what to say.

Still way early in the game, but first impressions are similar to all post Remake2 games, I don't know how to play these games anymore. I die all the time, I find hard games like shmups easier to play because the rules make sense. Combat is always super messy and unsatisfying, I hate zombies command grabbing you it is not possible to control them like in old games, it is like you move in mud all the time. You need to parry. The zombies randomly forget about you, sometimes they follow you the whole map and multiple doors. Sometimes they spot you 1cm out of a corner, sometimes you can walk right by them. Somehow pressing A to use / take things is still inconsistent, I think this kills me more than anything else.

I just like the setting, mood and characters at this point and hate the gameplay. Remake2 was the sweetspot.

I dont know If agree with all of that, I recently replayed original RERemake and zombies can "command grab" you in that game as well and only counter if you have knife with you. This was also the case with RE2Remake.

I personally have no issue with that because it makes zombies threatening and dangerous.

Still early on, just finished the second Grace section. The FBI needs to train their cadets how to to take a corner without falling down. Can't say I'm loving this so far.
