Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

I'm really confused because I don't seem to be able to select Path Tracing and FG at the same time, and when FG is available in lower ray tracing tiers it's FSR frame gen only.

I assume the recent driver bullshit could be to blame.

maybe you'd need the now unreleased driver update for it to properly detect the capabilities of your card.

Okay the Hunk bit was pretty lame lmao, RIP Hunk fanboys.
Yeah lol. I cope with the fact, that he had it coming since re2. Him and his team fucking up with Birkin lead leon this path to begin with. It was that exact moment, he didn't realise he fucked up.

At least leon acknowledged his feats lol.

Fucking typical, that's my evening's gaming ruined.

you could also look for the game's config file and manually change the values there (then write protect it to make sure the game doesn't overwrite your changes)

RE Engine games have a config.ini in the main install folder of the game.

So I just found the attachment for Leon's pistol and was wondering Why is there a compensator attachment for a gun that already has a compensator on it :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Capcom really copied The Evil Within with this blood system... not a fan

Also... couldn't you be more subtle Capcom ?

First-hour spoilers, but I just have to say, as actually-tense as the game is, it's got that Resident Evil B-movie charm. Maybe the story explains Grace's premise later on, but WHY DOES THE FBI SEND HER ON A SOLO MISSION INTO A CRIME SCENE WITH NO SUPPORT, NO ELECTRICAL POWER, NO GUIDANCE, AND APPARENTLY NO FIELD TRAINING.

As that first chapter got more and more ridiculous, it made me smile.

The stalker enemy gimmick was worn out after 15 minutes in RE2.

It's been a blight to the series ever since and this is no different.

There it is

Felt like it was longer (and I wish it *was* longer). Only missed ONE file (74/75) and 4 racoons, never use guides on a first playthrough, that is the domain of noobs and homosexuals.

Conclusion: RE4 is still the GOAT but this is top 3 material. Ask any OG fan their top 3 REs and two titles are guaranteed to be on that list: RE2 and RE4. I had RE7 as my number 3 and I would honestly have to replay it to determine whether I put RE9 above it but either way CAPCOM knocked it out of the park and as a fan since the very beginning I couldn't be happier.

As far as Resi protagonists are concerned Leon has solidified himself as the GOAT (as if he wasn't up there already). The cool attitude, the one-liners, the brutal action, the star of all the best RE games reigns supreme (his campaign was also the highlight of much maligned RE6 which I personally enjoyed for what it was). You did well old friend, you did well 🫡

Final point, I believe this will be on all major GOTY nomination lists come the end of 2026, let's see what happens, lots of great titles coming this year👌

Edit: and I'll add I LOVED all the different callbacks to previous games going all the way back to RE1, this one is for the fans.
I've clocked it at 11:56:28 but then Steam has 20.9 hours, let's say about 19 is more or less correct with testing some settings initially and the few short breaks.

Agree, plenty of good stuff on offer here for the old school fans of the franchise, very solid GOTY material entry, and well worth the wait!
As a kid RE2 was easily top3 for any of my early games that that made fell in love with gaming around 99' and with that no wonder why still one of my favorite franchise ever since, so imagine my excitement for all the throwback.

Though I must agree with others as Grace does get a tad bit annoying beyond the f bombs all over the place. But on the other hand I might still prefer her sections overall simply because gameplay wise it being so much closer to the old feel with mainly the location and sensation of the exploration of the Care Center.

Now that I'm passed the intro, seems like classic RE. Even with Grace. Much better. Was afraid of an RE7 scenario. It's pretty much perfect now.

You were afraid that this would turn out in one of the best games in the franchise ?

Some of you guys are weird

Just finished it, says it took 16 hours but steam says 27 hours total so somewhere in between those numbers as I paused it number of times.

Wow I enjoyed the game! So many amazing things that made my jaw drop!

Leon felt weird for little bit of the game and had 3 weird not so good parts I didn't care for but I loved the majority of Leon gameplay.

Grace was an amazing character with an excellent storyline and her voice actress is excellent.

At least a 9 out of 10 for me!

RE7 sucks ass.

the awful enemy design, and the awful combat results from that made it unbearable.

this (so far) seems to be a far better rendition of classic RE1 style design...

also the Leon gameplay is badass lol

Trying to avoid spoilers by scrolling through the thread, so apologies for asking this again, but... will I be fine jumping into this game if I haven't played RE7 or 8? I know that story hasn't typically been a focus for the series, but I'm not sure if that's changed at all in the time since.

Yeah. 7 and 8 stories are wrapped up. This is finishing the original storyline

Resident Evil is, maybe, the last bastion of AAA gaming that knows exactly what it is, not taking itself too seriosly and delivers brilliantly yet again.

Yeah, it's silly with some plot devices, I bet there are some gamerlay flaws for some, but Requiem was blood-pumping and very fun 15h ride from start to finish. Capcom fully delivered on some new shenanigans and sprinkled very tasteful nods of pure nostalgia with almost impeccable production values and surprisingly good stability and FPS on almost all platforms.

I can easily see myself buying RE X in an instant and spending more time with Requiem too. The only, to my taste, real flaw: please for the love of god add proper DualSense and Gyro Aim support on PC. The game is fine on MKB but very lacking with controllers, especially after tasting the PS5 version.

You run out of ammo if you kill everything but you don't have to really, you can avoid enemies if needed

That being said, there is enough ammo to survive and even kill certain big enemies without any issues

Something tells me that people complaining about this simply aren't very good at playing the game
This. Be good with your head shots, stack damage if possible, charms and attachments. Game is piss pooor easy with some nice sections. Going slow and even replaying some parts to get a faster end time, and just to be more efficient, really.
I have so much stuff in storage. I'm at the final act, I presume.

Just finished the game, what a ride.
Amazing game!

My two takes of the end is that how nice of Chris to send an envoy to tell Leon he can't die yet because he hasn't banged Claire yet.
And also I like how Leon is like '' I didn't hit her vitals '' when talking about shooting Emily, meanwhile me as Leon was shooting her in the head and heart lol.

Edit: Also I do think the Victor boss fight at the end could've been a bit better, it kinda felt like he didn't do anything to me.

Also apparently my playtime was a bit over 11 hours which is surprising to me.
I felt as if I went through everything and took it very slow definitely didn't feel like a short game I was expecting it'd be around 20-22 hours of playtime at the end screen.

Im halfway through and so far it seems like if you understand Leon's storyline and have played his games you should be fine. Re7 and 8 are not a factor in this plot as far as i recall! But then again things could change towards the end of the game

I'm close to the end of the game and to be honest I don't see the reason for so much praise and high scores. Maybe it's because they went overboard with the fanservice, there's really A LOT of it.

Leon's earlier levels just plain suck - you either have a boss to deal with or a bunch of zombies. It gets better later, but it's still an inferior character from the gameplay perspective. Grace's levels are much much better, you get a combination of avoiding stalkers, horror bits, stealth, open combat, puzzles (even if they're super easy), crafting (even if the logic to create ammo from blood is idiotic), exploration and there's even an escort mission. Problem is I don't like her that much and her stutter combined with heavy breathing when running becomes annoying pretty fast.

Btw I didn't notice this until now that I am unlocking things after beating the game, but in the bonus settings you can set Leon's gun to use a tactical flashlight attached to his pistol.

The clock has to be messed up somehow. Mine says 4 hr 20 min so far but I played it for almost 2 hours Thursday night, much longer on Friday and a bunch of hours today.

I never liked RE7, it felt more like a generic horror movie to me moreso than a Resident Evil game didn't like the focus on the one family.
Also never liked the shift to first person either or Ethan as a character.

Ok am I nuts or does the entire RC section kinda suck dick? I mean it has some cool moments, but overall? Feels like a big dive in quality from the first half.

Feels like I'm playing a long 3 hour version of Raid Mode. I want Grace back.

I wouldn't say it sucked, I liked the action breaking up the pace a bit.
But it's probably my least favorite part.

We need to stop and applaud Capcom for this day 1 performance.

If anyone is curious about modest GPU perf: 7800x3D and 6750xt get me max settings (no RT) 1080p native and 100fps+. It looks damn good. The baked lighting team didn't take any days off even knowing it was getting an RT pass. Some areas look amazing. Overall it's a very crisp and resolved image. The art team knocked it out of the park with this.

This game should run great for anyone. I might bounce off some of the gameplay elements, but it's flirting with Naughty Dog levels of AAA+ polish.

I have a 6700XT with everything on max and ray tracing on ( framegen too tho ) and got around 100 on 1440p.
Except for the motorcycle section, other than that I literally never hit even close to or bellow 60 no stutters at all either completely stable and smooth the whole time.

Sweet Mother of God, I just pissed myself when you came a cross that thing for the first time.

First a fucking huge jumpscare with that guy that falls of the door, and them that thing...and no ink ribbons left to save 😭😭😭

This game at night, with headphones...

Damn I didn't even attempt the RT because I didn't want to use FSR. I'm gonna give it a shot. It just looked so good I didn't want to mess with it.

Confirmed. Standard RT didn't even require frame gen or scaling. Doesn't look much different though.

Game was amazing. Completed it today on classic standard.

9/10 for me. Far more Leon heavy than I had imagined which I am very happy with. Grace sections were tense, spooky, methodical. Leon was ramping up the intensity, action without going stupid, and made you feel bad ass!

Fantastic bosses, visuals, soundtrack, use of audio, controls like a dream, runs like a dream.

There's only two things I would've done different:
-More leveling systems. I like RE4s finding and selling items/doing quests to then invest in yourself.
-One small story portion I found odd is
Grace is reveled to NOT be special. Just a regular girl. Well she got bit in the start of the game. She would've turned throughout the campaign or shown signs. The only cure is Elpis right?

Cleared with 14:14 hours on Stand are Classic My estimate is about 22-23 actual hours.

Died less than 10 times - but the game still felt challenging but not too tough.

Found all but 4 files and 3 Mr. Raccoons

I'd say it's definitely in the upper tier of RE games, and doesn't tarnish Capcom's godly almost decade revitalization of the franchise.

My complaints, without being overly spoiler-y, is I actually felt Leon's combat loop was better executed in 4R. I enjoyed engaging the enemy variety (and the variety in 4 is still king) and the party, melee, stagger loop was better implemented. Still great here, but I didn't feel the flow-state as much; could be reduced time "behind the wheel" also…

I ADORED Grace's Rhode's Hill section. I know it seems she is decisive, but I felt they really nailed the OG feel. And in first person…ooooh.

All in all, the story was good. Classic RE camp, but the actors did a great job at delivering it in the most convincing and consistent way.

Biggest letdown was Raccoon City. There was definitely some cool scenarios, but overall, I think it was always going to be a very tall order going back there and threading the needle.

All in all, 9/10!

Really? I found the Leon sessions short as hell like they put him in the last minute. Without make spoiler I'm the church with Grace and I don't think to be too far to the ending. Maybe the final part with Leon will be very long I think at this point because the gameplay sessions during quarter of the time with Grace in the same area.
