Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

Man, I know it's not THE reason, but it's almost like Capcom saw Silent Hill making a return and deciding to eat their lunch. SH2 remake was seriously taking me away from the RE series until this game released. It was amazing but this is on another level and Konami is going to have to start getting serious if they don't want to look bad in comparison from here on out. Competition is a good thing! This absolutely wrecks the last two RE games.

I'm just barely into the game, but the hotel interior gave me heavy SH-vibes, from the dilapidated walls down to how the wire cutters were used to cut the wire on a door. It's definite RE, but seems to take some inspiration from SH. Which is great.

Anyone got an extra pre order code for PS5? Best Buy didn't send me an email and when I called them, they said they can't provide and to contact Capcom. Can't call the local store anymore, because all calls go to an overseas call center and they can't help.

I didn't even know there was a pre order bonus ngl, I don't seem to have gotten it either even tho I had the game early and preloaded ( got it for free from Asus promotion ).

The end is close
Once again realized how much I love, and missed exploring the usual secret lab at the end of the classic RE games

It's for the Grace Apocalypse costume. I didn't get an email about it. I normally do tho.

I think everyone complaining about Grace and ammo should have started an assisted run. Unlock some stronger weapons in that run with CP and then tried classic cause you need to get good and that's that. Even journalists aren't crying this much.

One kinda plot hole that is definitely very silly is how Victor and Wesker just allows all of the zombies to hunt and kill Grace when they need her alive .
I get that the game needed to happen at the same time they didn't need to write the plot that way either lol.

RE plots make no sense most of the time. The whole beginning where Grace is send alone to a crime scene without backup. Ontop of that, its the same location her mom was murdered. Cmon...
Otherwise the gameplay is peak RE, no doubt.

Can you sneak behind zombies if you are close without being detected?

Nope. Not if you're within a few feet you cannot. You can sneak up to him and kill him with what Gonzito said, but you cannot walk past. You have to use the light to get him to walk east by the bathroom door and then you can sneak by going to the left.

Yeah I am sorta nitpicking, ultimately it's a RE game and also horror which is infamously illogical lol.

Do you get back to where the first container is later?
Or have I missed some hidden passage back to the beginning?

The problem is item placement, when you start with Grace on the Care Center she has no gun and then you have to find a gun and the whole west ward has poorly and scatered itens with tons of enemies.

You ll only find good itens for her once you unlock east ward and get the first access bracelet.

Its bad design imo that ll lead to frustrating moments with a chacter that is already annoying.

I guess there wasn't ever any conspiracy about why the fbi sent her out alone, it's simply just bad writing? A lot of people thought maybe he was part of the story and that she was sent there to die.

Always surprised at how shite some gaffers are at games.

Are ribbons limited, or do they respawn later in the game? Trying to figure out how conservative I need to be with saving.

Tbf as far as horror goes it's not so bad, horror is notoriously stupid when it comes to this stuff.

Im 8 hours in, but so far every Leon section was so short :(

By the time im getting into the killing mood its over. Why there is no merc mode capcom

I didn't watch any previews or footage of this before buying it, but the way I started laughing like a maniac when I saw I could pick up
the chainsaw.

Oh dang. At least I could use cheats on PC to have unlimited health in that part to remove the survival tension.
Well, once you learn that the monster needs to catch you 3 or 4 times to actually die, and you get generous i-frames after being caught, it does remove the tension. But also the point.

Listen, I'm NOT saying this game is bad at all. It's very well crafted. Superb even. All my gripes are purely subjective to this point. I'm back to a Leon section and looking forward to playing it.

Think I'm somewhat towards the end of the game. I cannot beat
the multiple plants and flowers boss in the cave.
it is kicking my ass every time. I'm gonna see if I can backtrack and possibly get more ammo or a better gun if I can get to the supply box.

Having just finished my first run on Casual(10 hours) the more people treat it like say Phantasy Star Online where you learn things such as enemy behaviors, map layouts and weapon familiarity and unlocking stronger weapons with CP then you progress to the next difficulty level and rinse and repeat is IMO what people should be doing. Did full 3rd person. Might do 1st person next.

Learn the systems and then master them. While there are caveats I have with the story the game is really good. Which after DD2 and MH Wilds I'm happy Capcom put out a game that is a winner.

I can appreciate the differences in playstyle between the 2 characters. One is a trained Military Expert and the other feels more like more like Scientist kind of archetype as an Analyst. And with the crafting system

------------
Very amazing looking game with Pathtracing. I really liked the wood floors in the Clinic. Looked so great. Sound design is on point. Good Ambient and Atmospheric sound.

Game is as of first completion a solid 9/10 IMO.

I don't play DD games but I love MHWilds, especially after recent updates it's become my favourite modern MH….I think put more hours in to Wilds than I did with base World and Rise combined, I'm close to be HR 800.

Yeah, I'm not a bitch. I've been playing RE since 1996 and this is nowhere near the most difficult RE game, I actually kill EVERYTHING that moves and still have plenty of ammo, blood and ink ribbons (or ink ribbon cans).

Of course this means that you have to plan your "runs" to do the most effective paths with the info you have at hand, then save. Fail a few times, get it right once, rinse and repeat.

Man. These graphics are sick at times. Path Tracing + FG seems worth it here. I was sure I was gonna turn it off and just use DLSS but fuck it.
I'm really confused because I don't seem to be able to select Path Tracing and FG at the same time, and when FG is available in lower ray tracing tiers it's FSR frame gen only.

Resident Evil got me again - I just spent 75 Schrute Bucks on this game.

I should consider myself a hardcore fan considering I seem to do this every couple years and play the crap out of them but for some reason I still feel like a casual.

This series must have the best batting average of any over the last several gens. I mean looking at the amount of output relative to how well-received it's been, they sort of occupy a space of their own. You'd have to compare it to FIFA or Madden or I guess COD but that's different.

I was trying to send off my desire by returning to the polarizing Resident Evil 3 Remake. I was actually enjoying it quite a bit but I think I could use something new and I'm glad I'll be able to join the discussion here.

I can't shake the feeling that I'm just about to play another remix of what I've been playing for the last few years but it's also possible that I won't even care if it's done well enough.

Cheers, old heads and new.

When I turned on PT it automatically turned on FG. You sure it's not on already?

Can you sneak behind zombies if you are close without being detected? like did you passed the zombie obsessed with lights without being spotted? i turned on the other light but even if he was fully distracted playing with the thing, when i tried to sneak pass him he just turned and grabbed me. (i know he turn around every 10 sec to check behind, i tried to pass right after that animation)

I tried with a couple of them but they always turn arond and grab me, sometimes it seems impossible to go full stealth, i just wanted to know if it was normal or if i was playing badly :lollipop_squinting:
Probably been answered since it's been a couple pages but you definitely can. Proximity is important though, I found that several times trying to sneak past them even if they weren't looking at me sometimes if I was too close they would just notice me and grab on to me. As far as the light guy, you should be able to slowly lead him down to the very end of the hallway where that locked drawer is, hide behind that little clothing shade or whatever near the locked drawer and when he goes and flips that last switch you should be able to walk out and leave I didn't have any problem with it. A lot of times they don't even seem to see me when I'm in there what would be peripheral vision. And sometimes even if they have direct contact as long as I'm quick. It seems pretty forgiving for the most part with a few exceptions.

It sucks that you have to get all of that back, but at least its purchasable from the start with Leons tracker that he gets in the second game. Im good with it for now, because Im going to go on an easy run after the standard classic just to unlock more content and I guess the racoons because I am bound to miss some first time.
That's exactly what I am doing too lol

I mean as rule of thumb i always crouch and turn the flashlight off in stealth games, at the very least i think crouching reduce the volume of your steps.
Also, according to the tooltip on the loading screen flashlights do not bother enemies, I've not had any enemy react to the flashlight as far as I can tell because after I saw that tooltip I stopped trying to turn the flashlight off when encountering the enemies.

Did anyone actually try to fight the girl as Grace?
Can you stun take her out momentarily like with Mr X in RE2 and Nemesis in RE3?

Man, I dunno if I've ever used a machine gun in a RE game. I always exhaust whatever ammo they have when I get them and hock em at the first opportunity.

He is talking about walking directly behind and away from light switch zombie. If this is possible, how slow were you walking and is this casual or classic mode? I've tried this twice and he turns around and grabs you. If you're talking kind of behind and to the side by 5+ feet, I agree. But I think his design is one where you have to use the other switch to pull him further away from where your path is.

the lack of ammo on Grace sections and the amount of enemies is starting to get annoying, i m supposed to play the boring way ? kite enemies to a open run and avoid them ? also there is almost ZERO scrap to be found in order to craft items for her.

You cant even play smart cause your "knife" breaks after 5 attacks, the game doesn't even give you empty bottles to distract the amount of enemies, the balance is fucked on her segments.
There is plenty of ammo in her sections, often hidden, however, she is not meant to play like Leon but more like survival horror.
You are supposed to take out enemies quietly or sneak by. By the time i was done with her section most enemies were dead.

1st person mode definitely more tense. Very different experience from 3rd person. And you can see how much detail went into the environment.

I am gonna replay in 1st person with both Grace and Leon later, but on first playthrough at least I found it too easy to miss items in first person.
I don't like the FoV either wish there was a slider.

Yeah, I always turn it off cause I'm immersed but it's just like TLOU, they don't notice it.

Speaking of TLOU, I feel like this is the first game since that looks as good in motion. As in animations and the feel of the combat which is why this feels so amazing. Maybe not exactly but close enough to where I didn't notice it feel any worse playing them back to back.

Really getting reminded why I didn't click with RE7/8 with Grace's sections. While good I'm way too much of a wimp for this stuff.

I kind of like the investigation/action switch-up that's going on though, but I could do with a bit less tension. Leon's sections have been fun though.

I've made it a habit in all the modern RE games. I open the map before exiting a room. If you were close enough for your character to see it, items are displayed on the map.

I lost my shit when I first encountered Blister Heads. Handgun needs like, 20 rounds to take them out. Thankfully, Requiem blows their heads off with one shot.
