Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

Yeah, there's another step after that I've done but then nothing and can't find anything online maybe today someone will solve it lol.
Yeah I got the laugh too, but then what? We're all missing something.

I love that Capcom gave us a meta-puzzle. After we all went nuts trying to solve one that wasn't even there in 7's Beginning Hour demo, I really appreciate them adding one here.

One kinda plot hole that is definitely very silly is how Victor and Wesker just allows all of the zombies to hunt and kill Grace when they need her alive .
I get that the game needed to happen at the same time they didn't need to write the plot that way either lol.

Oof I'm already stuck not knowing what to do. Gonna have to start googling. I wish these games had that Dead Space thing where you click the right analog stick and a line shows up on the floor to show you where to go lol

Game is shaping up to be quite challening due to Grace being very nerfed compared to Leon. The zombie 'behavioral patterns' are a very nice touch which gives them more personality and makes the encounters far more memorable than any other RE game ever did in the past. This is actually the first RE where I see the zombies as victims as much as enemies due to them showing you in a perverted way slivers of their humanity.

So far I am enjoying myself, and playing with ink ribbon save mode makes me very wary of encounters. But now I think I have to explore a room with numerous enemies (la la laaaaaa la la laaaa - those who know, know) and I think I am quite fucked Xd

Exactly, I'm sticking with this game being a 6/10.

Really enjoying the game so far.

Having two different characters and playstyles has felt like the correct design choice as well.

I'm not nearly far enough to go that low. It seems high quality if you like that stuff, but I can already tell on replays I'm just going to speedrun the Grace parts. IDK who plays the Ashley part of RE4 and says "oh we need more of this". Leon part was cool and I still am enjoying my time. To people calling her parts a throwback.... to what game? Claire or Jill never stumbled all over herself or was rendered incapable of fast walking.

Grace's sections, in pacing and the way her character moves/reacts/is able to fight back etc, feels incredibly close to the OG resident evil games, specifically OG Remake and 2R/7.

It is funny though, you can see how Nakanishi (the director) just keeps making the gameplay loop from revelations 2 more refined (which was a tuning of 4's)

The second half of the game is playing so much differently than the first half.

I reckon it's going to remove the grievances I'm reading from some users on this page.

Is it just me or do grenades feel very weak?
I threw one literally right at a horde of zombies feet and it didn't do anything to them lol.

TBH I haven't used a single grenade in combat.

Also, there is an upgraded grenade you can craft later into the game with a wider radius and it does more damage.

Does it have a lot of jump scares? I can handle anything but those.

I haven't played this series since the first one. I'm starting to get intrigued.

Glad you guys are enjoying it!

A few as Grace, especially in the first hour. After that it settles more into a routine with the occasional one when playing as Grace.

Nothing fazes Leon.

A little bit but I wouldn't say it's so bad, it's more atmospheric horror.
I hate jump scares and I am not too bothered by it.

Through a couple hours, about 70% of the game is jump scares and trying to run away as a defenseless woman. Who cannot run 5 steps without stumbling.

I was in that spot last night and turned it off for a bit. Just lost. Still enjoying it though.

Oh dang. At least I could use cheats on PC to have unlimited health in that part to remove the survival tension.

Need to figure out my visual settings. I'm playing on Samsung S90F and an PS5 Pro. The outdoor areas looked amazing, indoors not so much.

finished the game just now

13.5 hours, classic with save ribbons difficulty

damn that felt very short. I have to say, grace sections are a weak point, and as good as it was overall I have very little desire for replays. A shame because I did a good 4-5 runs of RE4make

its still a solid game. Not quite up there with 4 imo still the goat.

I'm very early in the game. Just got through Grace's first real gameplay section. The Path Tracing + OLED combo looks absolutely stunning. Those long hallways and flickering lights have a CG like quality to them.

Alright so so far I'm digging it, but it hasn't blown me away at all just yet. I will say it looks really Fucking nice on the Pro. True next gen?

Just got to the care center as Grace. To be honest I had no idea you'd
switch up between characters so quickly. I thought you'd be doing a significant chunk as Grace before Leon even showed up. Big nope to that which I found to be a real cool surprise.

The guns and the impact of shots feel like no other RE which has really been the jaw dropping thing for me lol. Like they finally nailed gun feel in a way that a bit feels closer to Last of Us. The organic blood spatter is pretty insane too.

So far so good but I gotta say man, I can't possibly be the only one that thinks Leon's character model kinda sucks? I like his outfit, voice work good as always and I dunno how old he's supposed to be, but his face is way WAY over chiseled and his hair looks retarded. It looks way too thick, almost like a toupee or something. I'm not a fan at all.

Grace's whimpers and shit don't get on my nerves either btw. She's green as fuck. If anything it makes me curious to see how they handle her character in REX (if she comes back). She could be all Linda Hamilton'd out by then.

There it is

Felt like it was longer (and I wish it *was* longer). Only missed ONE file (74/75) and 4 racoons, never use guides on a first playthrough, that is the domain of noobs and homosexuals.

Conclusion: RE4 is still the GOAT but this is top 3 material. Ask any OG fan their top 3 REs and two titles are guaranteed to be on that list: RE2 and RE4. I had RE7 as my number 3 and I would honestly have to replay it to determine whether I put RE9 above it but either way CAPCOM knocked it out of the park and as a fan since the very beginning I couldn't be happier.

As far as Resi protagonists are concerned Leon has solidified himself as the GOAT (as if he wasn't up there already). The cool attitude, the one-liners, the brutal action, the star of all the best RE games reigns supreme (his campaign was also the highlight of much maligned RE6 which I personally enjoyed for what it was). You did well old friend, you did well 🫡

Final point, I believe this will be on all major GOTY nomination lists come the end of 2026, let's see what happens, lots of great titles coming this year👌

Edit: and I'll add I LOVED all the different callbacks to previous games going all the way back to RE1, this one is for the fans.

You run out of ammo if you kill everything but you don't have to really, you can avoid enemies if needed

That being said, there is enough ammo to survive and even kill certain big enemies without any issues

Something tells me that people complaining about this simply aren't very good at playing the game
Reminds me of the people complaining about the same thing in Cronos...Maybe this genre is not for them...

Man, I have been just walking slowly everywhere in the RPD just soaking up the atmosphere.

They nailed this so well.

Grace stuttering every word is starting to annoy the hell out of me. I wish she could speak one sentence like a normal person.
Not even Claire or Ethan that were civilians felt so useless like this FBI agent feel.

She cant even aim without saking ffs.

I mean I think everyone would act like her irl even special forces guys, wouldn't even surprise me if you took a special forces soldier and put them into the same scenario for real they'd genuinely piss their pants and faint lmao.
Even so I dunno exactly how it works but I assume it's sorta like with the army too with FBI agents where it depends on what your job is.
A lot of army people are fat/ extremely skinny and not trained at all and work at a desk, very few people have combat roles and even those who do even less almost none ever see actual combat even those who operate in the field.

Can you sneak behind zombies if you are close without being detected? like did you passed the zombie obsessed with lights without being spotted? i turned on the other light but even if he was fully distracted playing with the thing, when i tried to sneak pass him he just turned and grabbed me. (i know he turn around every 10 sec to check behind, i tried to pass right after that animation)

I tried with a couple of them but they always turn arond and grab me, sometimes it seems impossible to go full stealth, i just wanted to know if it was normal or if i was playing badly :lollipop_squinting:

I try as well, but Grace is so fucking slow XD

That said, if you're not in their line of sight, walking or crouching makes no difference, it seems.

You can yes, I have done this plenty of times. In fact there is a game mechanic that allows you to insta-kill enemies from behind with a certain item. Just sneak past and don't use the flashlight

Yes, you can definitely sneak behind zombies, you even get means to insta-kill them in those cases.

I think some of them are just scripted to always know you're there, ala that light zombie.

The zombie with the lights spotted me every time when I tried to sneak past him too

Got this thinking it might be like Silent Hill 2, but it's a lot more action and a lot less scary. Graphics aren't as good as SH2 even on Path tracing on PC, but it's fine. The game is a lot more puzzles and action and that takes away from the horror feel of it, which is what I was wanting more from this rather than action. Maybe that's why I hadn't played any previous RE as this series might not be for me.

Still, will try to get through this one and see how it develops.
