Predictions for a friday peak? Will it even cross 10K?

No doubt. The game isn't out yet, these are all early access buyers.

What's going to be interesting is to see if the regular playerbase will also drop 33% in two days.

That said, I see the game isn't in the top 10 global top sellers on Steam, which is not a great sign.

I see these kind of comments all the time and I find that very strange. Suicide Squad being bad doesn't somehow make Gotham Knights less bad.

That game is dreadful for its own reasons.

Based on what I played (1h?) Gotham knights seems like above average story driven experience, this one... I don't even know that this game is.

If Suicide Squad is a turd, then Redfall (which I'm taking as a reference for being a recent, well-known example of a fully broken game on all levels) is like being shot in the knee and having your wallet stolen.

The kinds of games that get (and should get) scores below Redfall are the ones that belong to the league of Gollum.

Suicide Squad is certainly not a Gollum and far away from being Redfall.

Remember, Redfall was a first-person shooter with janky gameplay, dull open-world and level design, straight up broken enemy AI, bugs everywhere, technical issues and in DF's words "an unacceptable PC port".

Suicide Squad on the other hand is a serviceable open-world third person shooter that has very high production values, is well-written and has an engaging storyline. It's biggest issues are that the gameplay style chosen for the title feels a little forced given the IP that it's working with and that the pseudo-RPG and live-service elements add nothing to the experience.

Those are the reasons why you'd give that kind of game a 7 or a 6 at worst instead of a higher score, but they certainly don't justify rating it worse than, again, a broken game and on par with freaking Gollum & Co.
Yea exactly this, its not a broken mess nor a bad game really, a 7/8 is a perfect score for this and Starfield imo, its not a classic or groundbreaking but a perfectly fine to blast through

I'll give an example, I'm also playing Like a Dragon: infinite Wealth, in the same 6 hours I've played, I've had more fun in SS than I did LAD despite that being a better game, its all subjective

Solved toxic masculinity.

Shame about the child sacrifice.

No surprise.

It's these people again, the same people who advised spiderman to have Mary Jane missions and a bunch "IM GAY BY THE WAY SPIDERMAN, MY HUSBAND LOVES YOU" filling the streets, from the diversity insomniac leak. LATIN X ANYONE?

You can tell when their involved, its because something feels out of place and utterly forced.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the meeting between publisher and developer. As studio head I'd have to go in there saying 'We fucking told you this would happen, but no, you had to have a live service game that nobody fucking asked for!'

Rocksteady probably know they are going to get the chop with these scores, but surely they knew this right? If they didn't and don't go in with that attitude, well then they're fucking morons.

Graphics look pretty nice as do the cutscenes which I saw during a Part 1 YouTube walkthrough I saw earlier on this week but the actual gameplay just looked awful; boring, uninspired, grindy, repetitve, pretty much everything I loathed about the dull-tastic Marvel's Avengers. An easy "avoid" for me.

Live service games are a curse on gaming in my opinion as greedy publishers try to find more ways to milk more money out of gamers who have already paid £60 for their games. As if that isn't enough!!!

When it’s cheap enough, you can find something fun in almost anything. Gotham Knights was shit, but for the $8 I spent on it I thought it was ok. Would’ve been insulted as fuck had I spent anything more than $15 on it though.

Yeah, changes the expectations entirely if didn't pay much for it.

1 Is the type of shit after a stinking hot curry, the other is the type after eating aload of cheap undercooked meat at a bbq.

I'm sure Rocksteady was pushed to do a lot by WB Games, probably more than they intended. I think that explains the departures that have happened. I feel like that's almost always the case when folks abruptly leave a developer studio, especially during development. Even more so when they immediately start up another studio.

WB has just been getting worse, and worse.

What a.... DISASTER! Holy fuck, man. Jesus. The worst part about all this is that they might've killed off two of their major studios in just 2 effin' years, one of which was one of the best in the industry and the second one had potential. Who the fuck is going to buy them now (Rocksteady and WB Games Montréal)? Are we going to see a great Guardians of the Galaxy-level of comeback from at least one of 'em? How is it even possible if awful af WB will be running things and ruining everything? They even managed to kill all the interest in the new MK in me and based on Steam reviews, it's clearly the worst MK game in modern history.

WB as a gaming publisher needs to GTFO and nobody in a million years will shed a single tear. F-f-f-f-fuck 'em!:messenger_pouting:

Realistically, I wonder how catastrophic this will end up being. Not just reviews, but overall sales.

It *might* sell reasonably well, though it seems very reviled...but I expect people will drop it fast. I've already heard from a couple of gaming mates that the endgame sucks.

I hope Rocksteady makes enough money to survive this game. But hopefully they learn from this and stop making GaaS games and focus on the single player experience once again.

And people will tell you to "never mind the baby fiddlers, they are just consultants they have absolutely 0 effect on games"

I bet you if they were to survive, and they did, people would still find things to complain about. Because much like DICE, a lot of that core team has moved on since Suicide Squad's development. So if they were to try and make an Arkham game, or a spin-off, there's no guarantee it would meet people's expectations. It's probably why they decided to do something "different" in the first place. Unless they were just tired of being an Arkham machine, especially after Knights rocky launch reception on PC. 🤷‍♂️
Do you really think they had anything to do with this? Gaas is mandated by wb. I highly doubt anybody among the dev team wanted to make a gaas.

No, WB most certainly did. I think it explains quite a bit actually. Especially folks ejecting from Rocksteady mid-development and starting their own studio. Maybe I mistyped, but that was certainly not what I was implying.

Had this been an Arkham game I would have already preordered. I am glad I skipped this. I just don’t like the Suicide Squad.

I did this and shut it off. It’s the same plot as the film (in a way). I get how it’s different. I don’t know if I’ll trust Rocksteady after this. They hit a home run with the Batman games.

You mean the old movie? I've only watched the later one, and it doesn't involve the Justice League at all.

I know that. It doesn’t deal with killing them either. I meant the idea of them being forced to work as a group to complete an objective by another Corp.

I bought the first film on PSN before they stopped selling movies. I wish I would have rented it. I also read Vol 1 of the Suicide Squad. lol that’s enough for me.

I liked Harley in the Arkham games and Deadshot is cool. I liked Batman up until Arkham Knight. What I don’t like is the other characters. A boomerang guy and a shark. Meh

I think i was one of the few people actually excited for this to come out but after watching some of the videos and comments I think I'll have to pass on this one. What a disaster of a game

Might try this one out.

This board is nothing but an echo chamber. Has anyone actually played this game dare to comment?

The combat loop is objectively well done and, if it aligns with your tastes, excellent.

Considering that video/review isn’t the only one that points out how bad the gameplay design and core gameplay loop is, I’d argue the only “A grade, distilled bullshit” is the quote above.

I'd argue you can only comment if a game is good or bad if youve actually played it.

I'd take a gaffers opinion in more regard than a random youtuber any day of the week.

Put about five hours into it.

Best way I can describe it is Sunset Overdrive with better movement and gunplay. Traversal is great. Shooting stuff is fun. Looks good, solid frame rate.

Story is passable.

Mission design is poor and loot is underwhelming. Skill tree is also lacking.

Sounds like a buy when on sale, but not the disaster everyone wants it to be?

Yep. And in 18 months it might be a really solid title, depending on what is added.

It’s a 7/10 game that the tedious YouTube hive mind has decreed to be ‘the worst game evvvvuuuhhhhh’.
I actually think it looks okay (graphically great, gameplay ok) - but I would have strongly preferred another Arkham game instead.
That wouldve gotten more $$ out of me too.
