I think this is about getting that sweet Microsoft money.

EA and Ubisoft have tiered models where their backlogs are on the cheap tier. When Microsoft comes in with the bags of money it gives them a little negotiating room. EA's got their basic tier bundled with GP, don't think Ubi has any tier on GP.

The Epic store case is funny, since its creation most of the things I have read about it are complaints but yes...on Thursdays everyone opens the application to add the free game, there are 0 complaints.

Yep, Valve already beat them to the digital store front with Steam decades ago and they still tried. They should have learnt their lesson.

There's no way Epic are going to beat out Microsoft and gamepass. Microsoft's money pit is far beyond them.

The thing about Gamepass is it would have been so much more enticing in the PS2-PS360 era. Just more full priced games I wanted to play back then. The landscape is so barren now most stuff is either a buy or a skip. Not too many rentals worth my time.

Most of the games they "published" in the past 5 years are F2P though. So unless this sub gets you some sort of battlepass in those games, there's zero to look at here from their own self-published library.

There is nothing profitable about Gamepass without microsoft money.
Epic will try the same thing.
