Starfield is 4K/30 on Series X, 1440/30 on Series S

Honestly the biggest seller for me is the third person mode, I like FP for FPS games but RPGs feel more immersive when you can see whoever you're piloting. Plus the animations look really good, so I'm happy

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
No one wants to play a bethesda game on console anyhow. This game will be saved my mods

Just slap FSR 2 for 60 fps? Why the hell aren't devs abusing this tech?

I'll be playing on PC. Hopefully DLSS is available. But even native a 3080 Ti should be fine.

FSR won't be helpful if CPU is the bottleneck. And looking at the scope of the things they showed, that's probably it.

If it were GPU, they wouldn't be citing 4K.

honestly if there's no uncapped version on Series X the game's more likely limited by CPU than GPU if anything. I can see it too considering how much stuff is calculated and how much content there is, it definitely extends beyond just graphics and resolution

That's a bummer, 30fps in a game that seem to lean heavily into shooting. I was hoping for it having at least a 1080p 60fps mode.

Fsr didn’t help Star Wars did it. It still dropped below 900p and dropped the framerate to low 20s.

This is a cpu bottleneck, not a gpu one seeing as how they are hitting 4k with it. The only thing you can do is optimize the engine and hope you can multi threaded the codebase but i believe a programmer recently explained to DF that most games need that one thread to handle everything. Multi threading those game tasks isn’t possible for various reasons but mostly because they all need to run sequentially.

Spider-Man on PC can literally double its framerate if you replace a mid range ryen 3600 that’s equivalent to console cpus with a 6 ghz top of the line 12900k. Because of that higher single threaded cliock speed.

IMO they lack top programmers. Their games are know for bugs, inconsistent fps, gfx wise as well they are not the best. Redfall though made by different team was also 4K 30fps and everyone said it is CPU bound but I have seen some videos of the game running well over 60fps on R5 3600 CPU. So that means it has more to do with optimization than anything else. Moreover if they wanted fidelity why did they even though about targetting 4K in the first place ? Also admitting that fps can go upto 60fps ? It is clearly an optimization issue.

This is awful news, was prolly gonna buy a series x for this game. Guess will have to wait for the midgen upgrade.

And all the people defending this and saying just play on a PC, you guys are why Xbox is in the sad condition it is today. You never hold them to any criteria. À 30 fps game without any 60ps option is downright criminal in 2023.

Sigh. Not unexpected but still...

Really feeling kinda ripped off in my decision to buy a quality PC monitor for my game consoles if we're rushing headlong into a future where 30fps is still the norm. I mean, it'll be great when/if I decide to build a PC again but right now its capabilities are being wasted by both my XSX and PS5.

Im just glad we dont have to worry about any more 30FPS vs 60FPS talk anymore.. Its not important anymore I guess, everyone wins :)

Its Bethesda game, PC is the definitive platform for their game. I'm also looking forwards to mods
The mods for this game are going to be INSANE. I can’t wait to see what they cook up.

I always build a new PC for the lastest and greatest Todd Howard epic. I’m ready to go AND I have an ultrawide monitor now so I’m extra excited haha

Correct me if i'm wrong but i dont think a BGS game has ever been 60fps on whatever the current consoles were at the time, in fact they havent been 30fps that often lol, and no past BGS game has the scale of this one.

I still think they should of added a unlocked more for the people that wanted it. Maybe VRR would of helped with the judder.
True, but MS has, up to this point, touted Series X as "The World's Most Powerful Console" and that every 1st party game would have a 60fps mode.

Seems Bethesda has now completely bucked that vision/trend/promise

Definitely a push for PC vs the X, but why not a 1440p mode at 60? Or dynamic scaling? Or even a 40fps mode like some of the PS5 games, they are much better than the 30fps modes in those games.

This console gen is fucking trash.

I really need to just get a beast PC and be done with it. Fuck's sake.
A lot of people on here have been saying more and more 30fps games will come as this gen goes on. In fact imo there will be a ton of them once UE5 games start coming.
The fact that cross gen has been so prevelant so far this gen is the main reason why we have had so many 60fps games.
