Greatest defensive player of all time. Man....those Celtics were a hell of a dynasty. I grew up watching 80s Celtics with McHale, Bird, Parrish, Ainge, and Johnson. Oh......and what was left of Bill Walton. lol
Loved those teams and Bird specifically

My home in Indiana (Jasper) is about 30 minutes from where Bird grew up in French Lick and we have spoken many times over the years running into each other at certain sports functions

Have a quick story about him

His first MVP the league paid for him to get a Jeep Wrangler from a dealer in Jasper and one night about 15 minutes before this dealer closed he just pops his head in the door and pointed to a Wrangler and asked if they would deliver it to his house and the NBA was paying for it and they obliged

I never said he was the greatest scorer I think there is a long line of people in front of him for that honor like Kobe and one of my favorite pure scorers was Allen Iverson
I could have worded my comment better, but it wasn't directed at you... it was meant for the growing crowd who believe so.

Allen Iverson is grossly underrated and not given enough respect. If they had allowed him to handle the ball like he could, like they allow them to do so in today's NBA :messenger_face_screaming:

"I love that little guy" - MJ

Fuck outta here, Queen LeFlop.

So some posters here have a problem with James being connected with this limited edition? Newsflash, pro athletes, especially popular ones can move products. I'm a big baseball fan, but for some reason don't really play sports games, but when Shohei Ohtani was on the cover of MLB the Show, I bought it. My current favorite athlete, plus I heard the game franchise was really good, so gave it a shot.

I thought of that, but then the controller has white, the charging station has white, psvr2 and controllers also have white (whenever I buy them), so I ended up buying a 10$ dust cover for the ps5 instead.
I got a black and white controller. Lol not buying the psvr2 so I'm good

Lebron claims to be an Xbox guy…

Not sure why since he’s responsible for one of the greatest photos in console history ever.

g0TpU4W.jpg
He was probably amongst the many people that moved from the PS2 to the Xbox 360, who then moved back to the PS4, because they care more about what’s popular than they do console wars.

Since I already pulled you off topic, I'm taking this further.

Steph Curry is more influential on the modern game than Lebron ever was.

Jordan - made every kid want adjustable hoops to dunk.

Lebron - only taught kids to cry to refs.

Curry - made every kid and every 1/2 way decent NBA player turn their back on dunks in favor of 3's.
And Iverson taught the league and kids how to snap ankles with that legendary crossover.

Look man, there are some celebrities that I like, but I only like them because of their acting and films that they're in. I am really getting sick and tired of then doing shit in video games. It's annoying, obnoxious and just attention seeking. Also, why the fuck would I care about LeBron James? His so overrated.

No argument against. But truthfully, I have trouble equating his generation with Jordan onward. Same feelings in golf or football, and even baseball to a lesser extent. The old guys were great athletes and players, but I just can't believe they had the same competition the modern guys do.
I personally think there is less shooting competition than the Jordan late Bird era. As in, it regressed with too many showboaters and less snipers. The D game seems lackluster as well.

How dare this basketball player that's 18 years old in the NBA walking around with a PS2 and all 30 feet of cables be linked to a Playstation company 20 years later with an ad campaign that him and his future NBA son can be in!!!!! There's no way THOSE people even play games like us nerds! BOO this man in the Cavs hat.

- With Steph.......Lebron is more influential in how teams are built than Steph.

- Also......Curry has made every kid on the court think they can make 30-foot three-point shots. And to some degree has ruined basketball in the eyes of some. Lebron's game never did that.

- Lebron taught kids how to control your own narrative and destiny. If greatness is within you, you can achieve it by creating it yourself. Don't allow some old fart with a suit try to tell you where you can and can't be employed as if you are some kind of slave.

The defense will unfortunately never go back to what it was during Jordan’s generation. No one wants to steal as much anymore, let alone block, because breathing on someone slightly wrong is a foul. Hell, a referee not liking a player can just call a foul because he’s having a bad day.

I didnt know Lebron was into graffiti.

Side note: He is the best player ever. And I dont even like Cavs or Lakers either too. I'm a Celts and Raps fan. Easily the best all around player ever who can do everything: score, high % shots, assists, rebounds, play good D, pretty durable during his career (except lately while getting old).

Put it this way too. Make any team have 12 of the same player. A team of 12 Lebrons would beat any other team in history hands down.

The only thing he's bad at is his FT %. One of those star players who can hit crazy shots but some reason cant make a FT! lol. Luca Doncic is the exact same.

I'll never understand the criticism Curry gets myself. Ruining the game? How? By being one of the best shooters of all-time? That's called excelling at the game.

Imagine Steph doing his little shimmy in front of Bill Laimbeer

Oh.......half the league is shaking and baking these days. No, that shit would not fly with guys like Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, Robert Parrish.....those guys would scare the shit out of most of the show-boaters today.

Every sport is like that. It's impossible to compare generations since every 20 years athletes seem to morph into something more advanced based on newer strategies, science, training and medicine.

But it's still fun to compare.

I'm a hockey fan. Ovechkin consistently gets abut 50 goals per year in an age where scoring is super low, dmen are giants and goalies are also bigger, wear double the pads, and their goalie pads are lighter and squared off flush against the ice. Yet he can still score 50.

Time warp him to 1984 where almost every team was scoring 300 goals per year (now the best team in the league might get 300), and when the Oilers were scoring over 400 a year. You had pylon dmen who could barely skate and goalies wore half the pads and amost none were good puck handlers either to help control the puck. There were so many penalties called, every team probably got 5 PPs per game on average. And Ovechkin scores a lot on the PP

Ovechkin would get 100 goals per year easy.

If bricks like Mike Krushelnyiski can score 44 goals (which would be top 10 in modern day), pretty sure Ovechkin can get 120.

Defense in the NBA? Better luck finding Unicorns.

Only 1/2 serious though. Yes they came up short, but last year's Celtics showed how far great D can take a team these days.

I'm not when it exactly started (maybe late 90s/early 2000s?), but the modern NBA team probably has half the roster who can air out a 3 pt basket at a 35% clip. Most teams probably have a 40% 3 pt shooter. Looking at Basketball Ref team stats, the average number of 3 pt baskets each team gets per game now is about 12.3. I looked at the 1989-90 season on Basketball Ref which is when Jordan was hitting stardom and Bird only played a few more seasons. The avg number of 3 pt baskets made per team was 2.2. So were talking about 6x more 3 pt baskets made. And with that, think of how many more 3 pt attempts that goes along with it. Looking at somewhere around 35 attempts per game.

Nothing like inspirational slogans on my controller as I waste the very limited time on this planet playing a video game. Thank you Lebron.

My fav team was that Celtics team of the mid to late 80s. I was young so I could only go by reading the newspaper boxscores and hoping CBS would show a Celtics game on weekends. And when they were in the playoffs.

Its amazing how stacked the starting lineup was, but their bench was pretty weak. You got Walton and Sichting as bench support, and the rest of the players barely played. At that time, I thought Scott Wedman was a crappy bench player. But didn't know until the internet and checking stats he was all star calibur before joining a Celtics team he'd never be starting 5.

Those Celt/Lakers and Celt/Pistons playoffs were the best, especially Bird stealing the ball against Detroit.

After Bird retired I didn't follow basketball at all until Vince Carter showed up on Raps. I follow modern day basketball more than 30-35 years ago, but my fav will still be that era. One of the best games I saw on TV too was when Celts played 76ers and Bird launched 3 3pt shots in a quarter where he ended the third quarter (I think) on a half court bomb). My bro and I watching it were going nuts. Then there was Celts/Lakers game at Boston Garden where Celts were up by a few pts and Bird missed two FTs in the last minute. Magic launched a crazy 3 pt shot to win it by 1 or 2 pts.

Those were awesome years and great rivalries. Bird vs Magic was incredible. The distinct styles of play with old school post play with Bird, McHale and Parrish vs the fast court offense with Byron Scott, Michael Cooper, James Worthy and Magic. That was so much fun to watch.

I still watch some replays of those old games......except for the Pistons. Those guys just pissed me off.

Awesome DVD set I got probably 10+ years ago. The best game in the set is a crazy clusterfuck game in the 1970s I never knew about.

Draymond Green is that dude now. Well, he was at least 2 years ago. He's getting old now. Mutombo would get shot off the court in today's game.

Wow....check out how much the Bulls version costs:

Which is funny because I remember back then people were complaining about Michael Jordan in the same way. They said shooting was becoming a lost art and everyone wanted to dunk the ball like "Air Jordan".

Mutombo would get shot off the court in today's game.

Now you are starting to sound like J.J. Reddick. lol

I might be wrong, but I think any Curry haters might see him as one dimensional. And airing out long shots is easier than rebounding or playing a grittier game(?). I dont follow Curry, so I dont know if he's a good passer, leader or playmaker myself because any time I see him in replays it's him airing out his 7th 3 pt bomb of the game.

J.J. be right sometimes lol. Once that stretch 5 hits his 3rd three-point shot of the game, they'd have to pull Mutombo out the game. The same thing happens with the French Stilt today. He can't play in the NBA when the playoffs start. Yet he wins defensive player of the year, every year.

Every key team has a dynasty set.... I think Lakers, Celts, Knicks, 76ers, Bulls. Maybe more. They're are probably all sky high prices sicne I dont think they've made them since the 2000s. I got mine when they were still selling as normal. I think I got the Celts boxset for $50-60 cdn around 15 years ago.

I think its fun when teams have different styles of play today. And I love Curry's game and how he changed the game overall. If you don't want to be dependent on the 3, you better have really good defense on the perimeter.

I can understand coaches getting frustrated by really young kids trying to rain 3's when they're in elementary school. But that's why we have subs and coaches.

Don't get me started on missed wide open "underhanded" layups though. Those really grind my gears.

It's certainly a very interesting concept. Wish o could see an old 'stacked' team play a modern team. Maybe someday they'll get a good sim on it with super computers or something.

You can in 2k. But fair warning, height, release point, and step back animations matter more than anything else in my opinion.
