Seriously, I picked this up for 50% off and I've been impressed for the first 2 hours in, if you're a Batman fan at all, its definitely worth a look at,

My only real faults with it that that fact that on PS5 its locked to 30FPS and runs kinda slow in places (I noticed it more in the Batcycle driving, it doesn't feel fast enough) and the combat tries to be like Arkhams but kinda feels like a offshoot of it, its hard to describe

Oh and the vibration seemed to turn itself off, its one of those games where its fun to blast through but not at full price, AA is where I'd put it so far

It’s an AAA game. That designation is usually dependent on budget and/or production values. Independent of reviews or personal sentiment.

So, I bought Gotham Knights yesterday on Steam because it was on sale.

My opinion is that it's terrible.

The visuals are ugly, the combat is boring, the controls are awful, and the U.I is a cluttered mess.
Ironically, the only thing that wasn't an issue was performance.
After enabling DLSS I had a 110fps max dropping to 75-80 in the most obvious areas.

Personally, I feel like it's one of the worst AAA games I've played in a long time.

Ultimately, the two core gameplay elements are combat and exploration - and neither are interesting or original.

I got a refund and won't be going back even it ends up free on Game Pass or something.

Will prob cave when it's $20, almost did at $30 but I'll wait a little longer. PC version for sure, not doing 30fps.

I had fun with it. The story is a good length and all the characters are different and fun to play with.

It's just everything else isn't great. The open world is incredibly dead, the game doesn't run great and after a while the combat kind of becomes a bore.

It's actually a shame because it's pretty evident they did a huge 180 on this game just from playing it. You can see everything the game was originally meant to be before they changed their vision and focused on a mostly single-player game. If they actually had this vision from the beginning this game could have ended up being just as good as the Arkham games.

What a shame.

Anyone else notice there's a strange weight to the movement on controller?

It's like there's this awkward momentum when you move the camera or your character, and it means you constantly end up moving too far in the direction you want to move - which means you have to correct it by moving in the other direction and it creates this frustrating pendulum, fish tail weirdness that gets annoying very quickly.

Plus, the on-screen prompts kept showing as keyboard and mouse despite being on controller.

It was just another thing that immediately left a bad impression on me.

The combat already looked awful and slow in the developer footage. I was never interested in this, rather I would play a remaster of Arkham Origins.

It's great and I'm still having a lot of fun with it since day one.
Everytime i watch a video about it, it kinda looks great with the combat and stuff but then i see the mobile UI and all those damage numbers and crafting shit popping out of enemies and im like "nope"
You can turn off damage numbers, did so from the start, and progression is natural, there's no grinding.
maybe if they patch it and it doesn't run like shit anymore... MAYBE then I'll give it a chance... at a steep discount of course
It was patched several times rather quickly and runs pretty much flawlessly on pc.

I had a decent time with it playing solo at launch. Then my friend bought it earlier this month and I had a blast going through it again in co-op. It also helped that I've been reading the New 52/Rebirth run of Batman so I appreciated the story and references a lot more the second time around.

The 4-player Starro thing they added kinda sucks, however. Super grindy and we got bored of it on the 15th floor (out of 30).

I'm not personally interested in this game, but what's the deal with the replies? Everybody in here sounds like OP is hyping the game like crazy, instead of literally just saying "not AAA, not at full price, and it definitely has issues, but I'm enjoying it myself"

Thats GaF for you.

Even someone just giving their views, the replies will exaggerate what is being said just to attack OP as if THEY ALONE made the game or something. All I read is that they enjoy the game, simply not at full price.....thats it.
