I love how your gun gets so excited when you go on a killing spree. Also encourages you to use his secondary fire, AKA his trick hole :D Also, Knifey. OMG, so funny!

Super cool that everyone’s enjoying this. We need more quality humour in games. People saying that it has the structure of Metroid Prime make me even more happy. I think the Prime games have the best level design I’ve ever seen.

I’m almost tempted to play it on xcloud but I’ll hold for the port. Have fun, guys.

This might honestly be my game of the year so far. I don't give a fuck about how much of it is 'basic', I'm having an absolute blast whilst laughing my ass off constantly. Can't even remember the last time a game gave me enjoyment of this kind.
There's some major easter eggs that I will not spoil, but it's in my top 10 for the year for sure. I think it's probably without question the best and most ambitious comedy video game ever made.

Is that interrupting game play or is loading too long? I didn't notice anything at all.

Interrupting gameplay. As if you were playing the game through an emulator. It's been a recurring issue with many PC games for the past few years, which makes it very frustrating as devs should already be aware.

Currently, it's at a 90% user score on Steam.
So once again we see a game being snuffed by "professional reviewers", because it doesn't fit their agendas.

yeah, fuck reviewers.

If greg miller cant do a screaming tik tok video about how the game is a masterpiece it probably means its actually decent.

Shader compile or framerate hiccups?

I have the first one but after he loads new stuff it is pretty much flawless.

I got a couple of frame time spikes when entering a new area, probably compiling shaders.
But after that, the game runs very smoothly.

The issues I had continued on well after new area loads. But obviously my issues are isolated based on your responses. I'll redownload again later and see if I can figure out what is going on with my PC. Happy playing on XSX though since it has keyboard and mouse support.

What is your GPU?

I'm also using my custom config for UE4. maybe it can improve your performance.

I guess the negative reviews were all performance, which was fixed day one patch. Maybe reviewers should put a tag on the reviews or re review it in this situation. Game is legit awesome.

"Outdated humour" seems to be the complaint.

Just started it. Opening scene itself has sold me on the game.

Not sure if i can stand the constant chatter. Portal 2 is probably where i draw the line of maximum amount being acceptable. More than that sounds like it's going to be annoying.

It’s so janky! The sound balance is all wrong, sometimes I can’t hear what the weapons are saying (no great loss because it’s generally just “fuck, yeah, shit, fucking stab, kill, fuck!”). One time I had a whole scene where the characters flapped their mouths but it was completely silent. The screen sometimes shakes and judders for no obvious reason. Invisible walls, paths through the levels obscured by visual clutter…

I kind of like it. I’m embarrassed to be seen playing it, though. My wife was not impressed.

You can turn it down if you don't like it. There's a slider for that.

You mean just for the volume or how frequent it is?

Turning down the volume completely would kinda remove one of the selling points of this particular game, no?

The frequency.

Frequent: Guns/Enemies will talk at you regularly when there’s nothing important going on, cracking jokes, riffing on your progress, and so on.
Occasional: Guns/Enemies will mostly stay quiet, only occasionally piping up if you’re dawdling on a mission objective or doing something silly like jumping in sludge.
None: Guns/Enemies will only speak during story-critical moments, and will remain completely silent otherwise.

Good. That seems like a good setting to have. I wish there was one for most games, lol.

The PC version never had the particular frame rate issue as the console versions but it did get a patch and the patch does improve performance, it's just not as night and day as the consoles.

Tested this again on Series S (going back and forth between Series S and PC) and it runs way, way better, really good now.
Pc defo had this issue. I had a solid 60fps with vsync (80s without) and the game felt like a stuttery jerkey mess.

After the DAY 1 patch and getting the shotgun the game feels really great, it's still not a 8 or 9 or worth $80CND, but it's a better take on retro game design that 99% of the other shit out there.

Something about it reminds me of the shittiness of Duke Nukem Forever, maybe it's the models or the dead eyes in the sister's head.

The game is pretty ok, but there are small things that could have made it great.

They bought the rights to three movies, Tammy and the T-rex, Demon Wind (movie theatre) and Blood Harvest (home after first 2 G3 Bounties)

I had never even heard of Tammy and the T-Rex. I saw the poster on the wall behind Gene and saw Paul Walkers name and thought it was a sick joke 😆

Haven’t played it yet but I got a few co workers bugging me to play it. They seem to enjoy it. I love the way it looks but I’m not really a Rick and Morty fan

Well perhaps the issue didn't manifest the same with with G-Sync on then, because I wasn't getting it, and I was on Series S.

Yeah the humor might not be your cup of tea, but if you have game pass there's no harm in giving it a shot for an hour or so.

If you guys dig this and have a VR headset you should definitely check out Accounting+
Hilarious and trippy VR game about "VR"
Accounting isn't much of a game per se, and you can play it out in under an hour, but it is indeed very funny. Recommended if you enjoyed Stanley Parable, as it's co-developed by the same guy.

Squanch Games' last release, Trover Saves the Universe is absolutely hilarious. The stationary camera is a big concession to the (optional) VR mode that drags it down a bit, but if humor is the main selling point it's a scream.

Do you recommend VR or non-VR for Trover?

It's on gamepass so may as well give it a shot. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it and thought it might become too much Morty, but I've liked it so far, it's silly and refreshing

Stay in the pawn shop for a while, the banter between father and son is gold.
The amount of optional dialogue could be on the level of guardians of the galaxy if not more.

In their previous game there was 20 hours of dialogue for a 7 hours game.

Nice. When I saw the part in the beginning where the woman was trying to talk her husband out of trying to save the world, I figured there would be a lot of side banter. Awesome. Can't wait to play some more tonight.
