This game is looking quality and is one of the few games that have come out this year that I've been genuinely excited for. Not gonna pre-order it though, it's not wise to pre-order a game with digital dl as an option, wait for (user) reviews people! Saying that, I'm confident this will be something I'll enjoy and my gut instincts are rarely wrong.

The trailer certainly got my interest and I have the game pre-ordered (I know, I know...) for the Xbox Series X but I am starting to get a little concerned about the release review embargo date.

On the one hand, I would like to think that this is to avoid spoilers at launch but, on the other hand, the cynic in me is telling me that it's because the publishers lack confidence in the quality of the game and how it will review and so have intentionally moved the embargo to avoid people cancelling their pre-orders.

I really hope that I wrong because it does look amazing but I am quietly preparing myself for disappointment, just in case. A superb game to end 2022 would be absolutely awesome. Fingers crossed.

Fucking Royal Mail strikes mean anyone expecting this to be delivered on release day from anyone but Amazon won’t have a hope. Might pick it up physically elsewhere.

It took me literally years.
I think I've played it for 3+ months (I had a lot more free time in 2015), but that's not counting addons which was released later, they also added up playtime and in the end it was like 230+ hours with everything found and completed - I don't mean 100% achievements here, I just completed and found everything in the game.

As always, the hardest decision is which will be the definitive version - Xbox Series X or PS5.

Can’t wait for DF to analyze them.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
I didn't take Friday off but I have the boys coming with beer and pizza and we'll be unlocking the game together after work. And the boys are just work colleagues, before you all start with your innuendos. I SEE YOU GAF!
Have just insane amount of overtime and when the day off was approved i realized it's Callisto day.

It took me like three years and I left most of Skellige out because I couldn't be arsed to celar all the question marks. I finished the Add-ons tho. All in all it took me like 200 hours.

I’m more worried the amount of weight you guys put in reviews.
To spend 70€ on a digital purchase I can't refund? A LOT! I don't pay 70/80€ for something below 85 in Metacritic. As the score goes lower I spent less in the game. I have no problem playing a 70 Metacritic game, but at 20€ max. And personally, high Metacritic scores mean a level of quality I like. It's very rare that a +90 game turns to be a bad game, at least for me tastes.

However, Metacritic users score are more biased, with absurd scores like the low rating for The Last of Us 2.

So, returning to Calisto. I want the game day 1, but I will only pay 70€ if it gets 85 or more. If not, I will wait for a sale.

So, if low ratings for TLOU2 is biased, will low ratings for TCP not be biased?
I was speaking about user scores. I trust the official scores. Not a reviewer in particular, but the average score between them. As I said, a +90 average PRESS score is almost always a great game for my tastes, and a -70 average a shitty game. However, a -70 average USER score in Metacritic can correspond to a masterpiece and it gets that low score because there is a gay character, or is console exclusive, or the development included crunch time, or whatever other reason people think justifies review bombing even if they have not played the game.

Said that, I have super big hopes for Calisto because I love Dead Space.

UK Newspaper the Evening Standard have published and since taken down their review. Apparently "not for everyone", the "scariest game of the year" and 5/5.

I hope it will be in the high 80s but it will probably end up in the low 80s.
Regardless, this is not the type of game I am interested in paying full price for, so i will wait until it is on sale eventually.

I've gone for the Xbox Series X version due to its superior support for VRR. I can basically play the game at 60 fps in 120 Hz mode on my TV whereas I suspect I won't be able to on PS5 as games tend to only support 120 Hz if the game itself has a 120 fps mode which this game certainly doesn't. Otherwise, I do not think there will be much difference between the games visually or in terms of resolution, as is the case with most third-party games and despite the Xbox Series X's 20% performance advantage over the PS5. The PS5 version may be slightly quicker to load and have a smaller install size due to the Kraken compression the console uses.
