The days of the Sterling are over.
Subscribers have been dropping steadily for over a year already.
The days of the Sterling are over.
And stop blaming Brexit, it was all the stupid lockdowns and furlough schemes that have screwed the country.
No politics. But in answer to all the undercover commies whining about Tories, labour were and are a danger to themselves, Corbyn the IRA sympathiser!, that war criminal should be in the Hague Blair, Brown!. Starmer and all the north London champagne socialist anti semetics. Thank God we won't see the likes of any of them in #10 again. And stop blaming Brexit, it was all the stupid lockdowns and furlough schemes that have screwed the country.
I recall reading that the UK depended on natural gas for a larger percentage of it's total electricity than even Germany. Cutting off Russia just means everyone's fighting over the same spot LNG cargos.
AFAIK the dollar has taken a serious skydive with Biden behind the wheel, but has the prices there increased?
This is kinda untrue. Energy prices are going up because the green energy isn’t delivering as expected and gas/oil/coal is an international commodity market so it is affected by externals. I also read somewhere that the UK is about to aprove some sort of tax levy which won’t help the economy in the medium long term (so there is some speculation going on as well).Brits getting hampered by not investing in Green Energy and being reliant on Russia. Also, Brexit. Nothing more to say that US $ is also the world's reserve currency. The days of the Sterling are over.
No politics, but let me tell you about politics. So all the anti Conservative folk here are allowed to be political when it suits? Or are we allowed to openly state political opinions now?

What is the value of the Euro against the Dollar? What the value of the Yen against the Dollar? Don't tell us that's all because of Brexit@anthony2690 Brexit is a big one. Thanks Boris. Look where all the lies got us.
Yeah exactly. I was buying like a game a month a year ago. Now I'm just using gamepass and playing my backlog. This is what I needed to finally make a dent in my backlog.
Loss of confidence in the government as the markets think their economic plan is utterly bonkers. All I got was a lousy 50p ph wage increase.
What's the reason for the £ dropping so much in value?
Not peng.
Agreed and Net Zero. The Yen dropped and the Euro is now below parity against the Dollar that's hardly brexit. No politics. The Euro is also falling.Remember when GBP:USD was 2:1?
If Sony keep pushing prices up they'll push people away. Times of rising costs don't lend themselves to £600 consoles.
Is worldwide pricing done on Dollar exchange?
@anthony2690 Brexit is a big one. Thanks Boris. Look where all the lies got us.
Don't have to be a socialist to think that increasing debt whilst cutting tax on people earning 150k or more isn't sensible.Exactly. The thread is littered with examples of that all coming from left leaning socialists.
Only 3% of the UK's gas reservers come from Russia, so the idea that the current war has caused the prices to go up is complete BSI recall reading that the UK depended on natural gas for a larger percentage of it's total electricity than even Germany. You are really redefining socialists at that point.
But think the detour into politics has maybe gone too far.
And now it ends. And it continues with your post!
The war has pushed up the wholesale price of Gas on the world marketOnly 3% of the UK's gas reservers come from Russia, so the idea that the current war has caused the prices to go up is complete BS
And yet the UK seems to be the only country nosediving into oblivion because of itThe war has pushed up the wholesale price of Gas on the world market

I was 'political' about talking about the reasons that I thought the currency had weaken? I didn't even pass judgement on the budget.Haha only after you and the rest have had your infringement with the no politics rule, by being political and now you think you also get to decide when that ends.
God give me strength. Looks like it’s a free for all in here lads.
Really? The USA is already in recession and the EU is looking to cut to energy usages by 15%And yet the UK seems to be the only country nosediving into oblivion because of it
The gas is already off mate and EU is sorted for the winter with gas storage that the UK got rid off.Jesus Christ what nonsense is this?
Germany is on the brink of complete collapse if Putin turns off their gas - they are 100% fucked. Greece is wholesale about to default on huge debts (again) Italy and Spain aren’t far behind. Ireland has one of the highest debts per person IN THE WORLD. The whole EU block is unstable.
Yet, you focus solely on the U.K.?
I don't see how discussing the cost of gaming is political, but you are certainly coming out swinging and aiming to get the thread locked. So all the anti Conservative folk here are allowed to be political when it suits? Or are we allowed to openly state political opinions now?
It could have been even worse, I only got 30p p/h rise this year. All I got was a lousy 50p ph wage increase.

Subscription services honestly couldn't have come at a better time tbh. That and a massive backlog is going to probably keep me from buying new games for a very long time.To be fair I’m amazed at how many people in the UK are still able to afford gaming as a hobby in the current climate, especially with bills being so high. Sony upping those pieces even more would mean they probably price themselves out of the market.
It is reported as an objective fact that the pound is crashing and uk govt cost of borrowing money is going through the roof as a market reaction to the UK budget. Don't like that, then you have a problem with reality not politics.A blind person can see the majority of the posts are political and shitting on right wing politics in the U.K.
The gas is already off mate and EU is sorted for the winter with gas storage that the UK got rid off.
Wake up and smell the coffee you're being taken for shmucks over there in Britannia. Your own politicians and their cronies are shorting the pound while they're cutting down the tax for the rich and boosting the party donor energy companies with tax payers money.
The most hilarious part is that the UK taxpayers money will go to the EU which imposed windfall tax to the same energy companies
Wouldn’t surprise me if we see price hikes from MS and Nintendo as well at the rate this is going. Sure, Nintendo probably has some leeway due to not decreasing the cost before but Series X and S selling at their original price is a big cost and Sony has already taken the biggest PR-hit by being the first to raise prices.
Or you could of not shut down society, which in hindsight seems a terrible idea.Kinda had to do payouts in some form, otherwise you just would have had massive unemployment.
Obviously there was going to be some fraud and wastage unfortunately. Definitely need to make punishment on Fraud tougher but ehh.
The UK goverment is doing one of those two things; aka the interest but not the other.
I don't know why phil came out and just outright said oh were not planning on raising prices. Even though his words did leave room for a possible price increase, any backlash they get if they do up the price is gonna be far worse then sony.My thinking as well, all this means are microsoft and nintendo are taking an even bigger loss come the holiday season. Thats why they didn’t flat out commit to not raising prices in the near future.
A lot of people are gonna look dumb for ragging on sony for it soon. Nintendo will probably write this off as a price cut their margins are gonna get hit hard though
well my gas/electricity is now capped to £2,500/year apparently (instead of the predicted £3,500 and then upwards of £5-7,000 by spring). the prices are still going up 1st october but it's meant to be frozen for 2 years now so yey? edit: and oh the goverment gave everyone £400 off their bills this year. next year we'll not get that so effectively it's still a price rise next yearHow are UK services like Utilities and insurance doing?
