So I poo pool’s the shit out of this game before release and now I gotta eat some major crow.
I was arguing that it just looked like Horizon 4 again, which I put quite a few hours in and just got really bored.

I’ve put a few hours in FH5 and it just clicked.
Now I just want to try to smash every sign and buy every car.
Actually you're not that off base, it is very similar to FH4 in many respects. But I agree that I've been pulled into 5 to a much greater degree than 4 even though some cars I wanted to see were seemingly cut or at least haven't made it in yet.

So I tried launching it and had the same issue you did. I think the update is likely broken.

You may have already tried the following but I got back into the game after doing it:

- Open "Apps & Features"

- Find Horizon 5 in the list and left click once to expand that app

- Click "Advanced Options"

- Now click the "Terminate" button which will end the program (do it just to be sure)

- Now click the "Repair" button (should now have a checkmark)

- Now click "Reset" which will reset the app (should now have a checkmark)

After doing that I was able to start the game without uninstalling it. I did have to resync my save and adjust video settings again but that only takes a couple minutes. Otherwise the game is behaving properly.
I did what you said and now its completely gone in the "Apps & Features" but its still on my SSD because Forza Horizon 5 was the only game on that SSD and there is nothing else there (it takes 102gb). But when i want to install the game again on the same SSD it says that its finished installing and ready for play but it doesn't do anything and just keeps asking where to install the game :messenger_expressionless:

I finished the campaign. I'm not a racing fan and this is the first Horizon game I completed. I enjoyed my time with it, but I'm not sure how much more I'll put into it after completing all the story quests.

is anybody else getting sick of the whining/high pitched noise every car makes when you upgrade it? completely kills the engine sound off on most cars and doesn’t seem right at all. hope i’m not the only one it’s starting to take enjoyment away from the game :messenger_expressionless:

Try redownloading the game services using the powershell command:

No, I love the engine sounds in this game and I dont upgrade every car to the max which makes cars sound the same because you're using the same upgrades to get them S1, S2 or X class. For instance my favourite car at the moment is a B700 Porsche 1973 Carrera RS. No turbo or supercharger, just a natural aspirated 2,7 litre air cooled flat-six. Sounds damn good!

I Try to keep cars in their class of origin and max them only in that class, that's the fun for me. So D500, C600, B700 and A800. That way they keep their sound original as they're not or only mildly engine tuned.

Transmission whine or supercharger whine.

Don't do either of those two upgrades but still do everything else.

Yeah not sure every car after upgrade have straight cut gears in transmission...

Sorry my suggestion didn't work out man :(

I was going to suggest the nuclear option when I read it was the only thing on your SSD. I hate suggesting doing so because I have no idea how long 102GB might take to download for you. You ain't got time to waste on this shit, you got pictures to take!

Same here! Started doing that after upgrading a couple cars and being somewhat disappointed.

Yeah that's the approach I take with tuning. Maybe have one I overtune but otherwise keep them in their default class.

I love Forza Horizon series but I'm disappointed with 5. The game never stimulates you to go for races. The campaign is all about casual random stuff.

Races are there but there is no kind of progression to explore races.

:/

How is that different than 4, for example? You just get a bunch of icons and decide which category to go for, like street races or off road etc. I find Street Races offer the sternest AI tests, but you have rivals and PvP as well. It seems just the same as how I played FH4

This is the first time in any Horizon game I've felt 'overwhelmed' with the amount of activities available on the map.

Also the progress system is better than the last few games but still a joke. To continue the street racing scene for example you should have to do it through gaining points in that discipline. I've unlocked all adventures already which is stupid given I haven't even touched some and have so much content left to do.

Does this weeks speed zone nees to be done in the rain?

Nope, you just need a "Modern Supercar", tuned in the S1 category. The little thunderstorm icon just denotes it's a challenge for "storm season"

I just ticked it using a new C8 Corvette tuned to S900 in clear skies.

Hmm, I did it before with an S1 900 and got 125.2mph. I know I passed it because I got the 3 stars as I didn't have them prior. It is 125mph right

Horizon 4 was nothing special to me, it could have easily have been a DLC, felt like a down-grade compared to the vast expanse of Australia...they missed an opportunity, they could have set 4 in India/Bhutan etc...drive through Afghanistan avoiding the Taliban on the way..

Car mastery and super wheelspins were a mistake. The whole game economy is ruined. It's broken. It doesn't make sense.

300FP for a super wheelspin? You have to grind for hours (dozen of hours?) to get that much.

Meanwhile I can take my Lambo, drive down the highway and get 10 skill points in less than 2 minutes.

Then buy x 2 Jeep Willy and change these skill points for 2 super wheel spins.

That's why Forza Horizon 3 is still king.
No longer, super wheel spins are out of car masteries

Some of the seasonal events were bugged for me - specifically speed zones and danger signs. I'd get three stars but the game would keep telling me I needed "1mph more for seasonal challenge" or "1 foot more for" etc.

Not sure if this is fixed with the latest patch but restarting the game fixed it on one occasion and failed to fix it on another.

Thanks fellas.

I'm all for killing the Jeep exploit but outside of my gymkhana car I don't really have much use for the mastery bonuses. Pretty much used the points for spins exclusively.

I only drive like 4 vehicles and rack up tons of points just trying to nab the top speed traps in Forza GAF club

I just discovered the magic of downloading tuning settings for individual cars. I went from somewhat struggling at "highly skilled" to comfortably beating it with new tuning. I still drive like a drunk monkey compared to someone like DonJuanSchlong DonJuanSchlong though. Watching this guy's videos is borderline depressing, he's too good lmao.

I really love this map, I think I already like it more than Horizon 3's map. The seasonal changes aren't massive like in Horizon 4 and don't break up the flow of the map anymore. Outside the large lake filling in during the wet and stormy seasons there is really no off-limits areas on the map. The sandstorms and tropical storms aren't heavy-handed unlike the never-ending (accurate) UK rain. I'm finding the road layout is really just so much better than previous games, with more arcade-like dedicated shortcuts swathed through the trees allowing you to more easily jump from one road to another without slamming into a bunch of shit. I find too that the bunny-hop bumps in the off-road areas all over the place in 3 and 4 are mostly gone. Trying to take an alternate route to hit some stunt jumps in 3 and 4 were impossible as the ground undulated to wildly you'd lose a ton of speed. The ability to actually drive over the rocks in this game fixes my biggest gripe with 4's map where even a lifted off-roader would just smack into the rock and sit there making some areas not fun to drive across. Everything just looks so pleasant anywhere you go.

Then there's the sound. It's just such a lovely and relaxing setting even ripping around with a screaming 1000hp 3-rotor. Turn off the music and engine sounds and crank the ambient sounds anywhere in the game, it's just straight-up comfy. The birds, the sounds of approaching storms, the chaos of the big storms, the trees rustling, waves crashing on the beaches, water rushing in the streams, the screaming howler monkey ear-rape in the jungle...

Its just soo good, everywhere you go is filled with detail. And like you said the sound in this game is something else, the way you hear other cars flying next to you or in the city is one of the most realistic sounds of cars i have ever heard.
And i have some more pics since i fixed the game last night =)

Which four vehicles? I do basically the same but I'm trying to mix it up as I'm still a low level (44) and want to experience a variety of stuff.

On that note, I felt like I had put a decent amount of time into the game and then I keep coming face to face with BusierDonkey BusierDonkey 's drivatar (like level 190 or something!). Guess I better keep playing.

Just made the jump from expert to pro drivatars and I can feel the challenge. I'd previously been winning races in one or two attempts (assuming I had the right tuning/vehicle) and now it's taking several tries with lots of rewinds trying to nail those perfect corners. I also switched to manual/clutch from basic manual which is compounding the difficulty, although I'm cheating by using the paddles on an Elite controller to change gears.

I'd recommend almost anyone bump the difficulty up a notch, it's giving me a hard time but I really feel like it's forcing me out of bad habits and I can see improvement.

Love this game.

In the two weeks since this launched I've been playing for five of them solid. Of those five days I spent two just teaching my drivatar to drive like the dirtiest son of a bitch to ever get behind the wheel of a car. I also rarely fast travel, driving from event to event racking up skill points is a lot of fun and I have a tendency to explore.

The Lambo Sesta Elemento Forza Edition for crazy grip at 250 mph amazing road car.

The Jesko for ultimate high end speed (have hit 312 mph with it but top speed in a speed trap is 309.5)

The Jeep Trail Cat for driving straight lines across the map and smashes everything.

The BMW X5 Forza Edition just a great little all around car

Since I started playing longer sessions after work I've had a weird issue - after 3+ hours of play my game starts to chug, dipping down into the 20s/30s sporadically, especially when moving at high speeds.

GPU/CPU/memory are all staying well under 50-70% usage and my temps are fine. There's no Windows Updates or anything heavy happening in the background.

Restarting the game fixes it every time so it's not a big deal. Just curious if others have had this happen and if there's a memory leak or something in the game.

I am struggling hard with the race series for the autumn cars. I am struggling like hell to even place top 3 on the races. I’m not ready for slick tracks and highly skilled drivatars.
