It would have been my custom 3080 / 5900 build that I cancelled as I ordered February for May, which slipped to July which slipped to September before I got pissed off and cancelled it.
I downgraded my build. Planned to get a 3080 or 3080ti. After waiting for half a year or whatever I bought a 3070ti instead. It’s not what I wanted but honestly good enough, I can run Cyberpunk with RT on Ultra at roughly 60 fps, gsync is my saviour, can’t spot any drops.

My desktop is:

ryzen 5 3600xt
evga 2080S
32GB DDR4 ram
1tb ssd
4tb hdd

and my laptop is

amd ryzen 7 5800H
3060 mobile
16gb ddr4 ram
512gb ssd

im not well versed in tech to compare with my PS5 or XSX so im not sure if theyre better or wround equal, theyre not much worse though as far as i can tell

I think most people don't actually have gaming pc's that can outperform the next generation consoles.

If you look at the steam hardware survey then most still 1080p screens and equivalent pc hardware.

Im interested to know what neogaf members have as we're probably classed as not casual gamers but more enthusiasts.
I still have my 980ti and am still able to run most games on high :)

Ryzen 3600 + GTX 1660 ti + 16GB RAM + NVME SSD, so no. I think my system compares well to a XSS (sans RT ofc). I'm pretty happy with it so far since it pairs well with my existing 1080p display.

gonna get a 4.0 nvme m.2 on black friday and i'm waiting for that gpu upgrade, but it's still pretty powerful

Dude, did you at least watch the video?

According to GN PS5 dips to 34 fps. That's why I asked you (and ask you again) which mode of all available on PS5 you think he's using to make the comparison. I quoted all the modes according to DF in my previous message.

cTz4fgG.jpg
It's the 120fps mode. But using a frame time metric to get lowest fps instead of the fps avg over a second metric you usually see in console comparisons.

No. Its barely better than an xbox one x.

FX 6300
8GB RAM 1600 MHZ
RX 580
1TB HDD
256 GB SSD

But its still a great machine for 8th gen games, light emulation and upcoming indie games. I'll build a new computer once next gen truly kicks off in late 2022 or 2023.

I can run current games on medium 1080@60fps. In two years or so I'll just go down to low to maintain the 60fps if possible, and later will endure the <30fps.
I don't plan on upgrading anytime this gen.

I barely play new games anyway. So far, Hitman 3 is the only 2021 game I played.

Lol - Many do not have beefier computers because it is still a hassle to get your hands on the newer hardware.

Also, what criteria are used for the steam hardware survey? Like, is it anyone who has ever installed steam or is it based on a period of time?

Also-also, I voted 'yes'.

Most console players aren't playing on a system as powerful as XSX/PS5 either. They play on 7870/7850/7770 GPU equivalents with CPUs about as powerful as a FX-6300, probably less. Which is fine with all the cross-gen support.

I have a 2060S desktop and 3060 laptop. They'd qualify for "about as powerful". Pretty much anything with RT or DLSS support is going run better on these GPUs compared to consoles(i.e.- DOOM Eternal), while AMD favored games like ACV are better on XSX/PS5. Regardless, I find the XSX/PS5 to have vastly superior hardware relative to PC at launch compared to the PS4/XO back in 2013. AMD really delivered with their SoCs for consoles. Most PC players would be delighted to upgrade their 1060s to a $500 SFF PC as good as a PS5/XSX.

we were talking about current hardware and now you're talking about hardware with """similar""" specs to the ps5, ok.

I suppose i'm the dumb one for trying to argue with unreasonable people
I'm suppose you're the one moving the goal post. What I said still stands:
No because people won't be able to run the games like PS5 does, using the same hardware 4 years from now.
A PC with same specs as a PS4? No they're not.
Show me a PC from 2013 that has the same specs as a PS4 running late gen stuff.
If we consider the RAM alone it couldn't be done.

If it was possible, everyone would be still rocking their 2013 PCs until last year.
I like to argue with unreasonable people. I find the goal post moving/mental gymnastics fascinating. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Good question and I'm not sure. I have a gaming laptop with a 9750H and 2070 with 16Gb DDR4. It certainly plays anything I throw at it.

I'm stuck with an outdated GPU (and not for he lack of attempt to buy a new one, Jesus Christ), but apart for that I'd say that yeah, my PC runs circles around new consoles.

I’d say yes. while my pc doesn’t necessarily match the specs of the consoles I’m confident I can run any game better on my pc than I’d get on either console. I have a way faster cpu And more ram than either console. My gpu is probably bout on par with the consoles. Ssd is faster than Xbox but not quite as fast as ps5.

anyway I’m not 100% sure cause I don’t target 4K but play at 1440p 165hz. Consoles can’t do 165hz so as far as I’m concerned my pc is better.

Very easy.

It says: PS5 vs. PC Performance. DMC V High Framerate mode/No RT/PC Settings Matched. Gamernexus.

You read that, right? It's on the chart. Well, funny thing is PS5 doesn't have a 1080p mode other than the RT Performance Mode, which of course uses RT, and even this mode NEVER drops anywhere near 30 fps.

He's using either the regular 4K mode (my bet) or the RT normal mode. In any case putting it up against a RTX 1060 running at 1080p is just lunacy.

Did I make myself clear this time? Honestly I don't think it's that hard to understand why that comparison is total bullshit, and if you didn't understand by now it's probably because you don't want to, so you won't. Nothing I can do about that, sorry.

First, there is no need to get snarky and condescending. We are talking about video games.

Having said that, yes, I see your point and GN discusses this in the video. So what native resolution is the game running at with RT off and high frame rate mode?

Capcom provided these modes in their resetera post:
  • 4K/30fps with Ray Tracing ON
  • 1080p/60fps with Ray Tracing ON
  • 4K/60fps with Ray Tracing OFF
  • Up to 120fps with Ray Tracing OFF

Waiting on pci-e 5.0 and its SSD's to arrive, will upgrade if the i get more then 50+% performance jump probably will upgrade from the 9900k as RTX eats cpu performance and i need more cpu performance for my builder games.
Also 3080 is a hold over GPU for now, will sell it off and move to 40's series when it comes out.

nah. And it was much more expensive (or do you mean by more powerful that it consumes more power, because it surely does).

But the PC MR is not just about pure powa. Its also about open platforms and choice. And mods. And freedom of choice, as well as competitive gaming. And I guess porn.

Nope.

I built it this year, and I wasnt specifically going for a gaming PC, but I wanted something more up to date.

My gpu is no where near close to either. Probably not close enough to the Series S.

Gigabyte B550M DS3H motherboard
Ryzen 5 3600
(wanted at least 1 PCIe 4 NVMe slot so I went with this combo)

16GB DDR4 3200 memory
regular SSD for storage

Radeon RX 550 gpu....

Your CPU has fewer core but who knows if it's weaker for games or not (higher clock and IPC).
Yeah i know it has less 2 core, i was about to buy 8 core but my expert friends told me that it doesnt really have important impact on gaming since the high end CPU are used more for streaming, editing and workstations. So i figure i save some money from CPU to buy better GPU and Motherboard and Power Supply.
Based on what i saw in Wikipedia the CPU for sony seems to have 2 more cores but processing at lower speed, it says 3.5ghz? while this i5 had 4.1ghz? could be that. Good thing i can always upgrade when i want, few years i can upgrade CPU if there is a need. I think my current CPU is pretty good actually, the PC is very fast and i dont have issues at all.

That CPU will be fine this whole gen
