No More Heroes 3 New Open World Gameplay - (why would they show this?)

I played NMH 1 not long ago as I had always been curious.
Found it pretty fucking bad, but I could see hints of something good and was hoping 3 would be like a way more polished version of the concept.

Doesn't look like that will be the case.

Lighting and art style are really appealing... but yeah, it's hard to see that and want to play it.

No different to the Wii original then
Sort of. Seems even more barren than before, but maybe that was just the cut?

It was always a weird idea for an open world, that it really was just an "open world", but it's got a 3 in the title, the NMH fans should have guess what to expect (playwise, at least...)

They gotta get that frame rate up. Getting flashbacks to playing N64 games.

Is a switch exclusives even a good thing anymore? Since the hardware cant keep up we are left with only having a heavily compromised version to buy

Its amazing how this series* still hasnt made significant progress in the visual department since its conception.

Next to Deadly Premonition, this game is a giant symbol of stagnation.

Gameplay and wackiness is still tits tho.

Edit word from game to series*

I enjoyed the first two. Looks like it needs some work, but honestly, basically what I expected. I just hope the fighting remains as fun as it was.

I'm not particularly demanding on Switch Graphics, I don't see it as a home console, but as a premium portable. It's good enough if the rest is great, is all I want. I don't know this franchise TBH, but I'm willing to look past the visuals if it has good gameplay elements, story and overall package.

For me it gives huge first game vibe which I considered as really good thing and to me NMH and most of the Suda games for that matter never were technical marvel, so I don’t have issue with this.

This is what happens when devs refuse to use all the tools possible when porting or making games for Nintendo Switch. I understand the console is weak but come on, you have to at least put in all effort. If they can make Doom run then anything could be possible.

Devs need to be willing to adapt the scope of the game to Switch capabilities. You can't treat it like a PS4 and expect a good result. Switch has it fair share of bad games and ports, but I still think most efforts are good enough to be enjoyable on it.

Not every bad looking/performing game can be blamed on the hardware.
The Switch isn't THAT underpowered, it's still slightly above the 360/Ps3/WiiU gen, consoles that had games like Xenoblade Chronicles X, Red Dead, GTAV, Arkham City, La Noire, Just Cause 2, Assassins Creed 1-4, Yakuza 3-5, Darksiders 2, Sleeping Dogs, Infamous 2, etc.

Them struggling to run an empty Ps2 looking city at more than seemingly 20fps is ridiculous.

I don't think even Yuzu can save this one. Sure, it can boast the framerate from 15 to 60 and improve the pop-in a little, but it won't be able to fix the emptiness of the world. Making an open world UE4 game for the Switch is just asking for trouble.

Ouch. Yea idk why they would do open world when it doesn't seem like its really needed. No sense in building a city when its empty with nothing to do or see.

When this was originally revealed I said it would be a terrible game and it looks like that's coming to pass.

I'm hardly a prophet, it was obviously going to be the case. Number one was a turd, as was number two, as was the spin off and this one is gonna be a huge dump.

I think that is important. But it would be nice if devs can't port the game then be upfront and do not bring it to the Switch.

I mean, I doubt xPeter's Archive is an official NMH channel, but he seems to carry a lot of footage from the game. This just looks...well...

The pop-in, the empty worlds, the 15 FPS.

What say you, GAF?

OP, have you played the previous NMH games?

they have never been GTA. The “open world”in NMH have always been a gimmick. I don’t remember NMH2 even having one.

That what the NMH series has always been about. OP is being disingenuous

Honestly, the No More Heroes series has always been a big pile of 💩

And this coming from someone who bought NMH 1 and NMH2 day one. its 100% style over substance, fortunately the style is pretty cool, looking forward to the soundtrack and cutscenes! 🤓🎧

NMH 1 was a fun gimmick game for the waggle controller, but its gameplay was super basic dodge-waggle-dodge-waggle shit that I reckon most people have grown out of and I can't see any new fans coming along for the ride with this one

My goodness. I love me some NMH1, janky open world and all, but god damn guys, this needs to be polished. Game comes out next month so I'm assuming the 10-20 framerate in the open world is pretty indicative of the game at launch.

Not gonna lie, I'm still pretty excited for this game

Aye, that looks bad. But I'm here for the bosses anyway, so bring it on! I can't wait to play this.

I'm definitely going to miss Masafumi Takada's beautiful OST, though...
