IMO

I don't enjoy mouse/keyboard controls in FPS games at all. Yes, AvP'99 was novelty for its time but it was still too chaotic.

AvP2 is nowhere close to dynamics of AvP'99. The lifecycle did not do anything for me as I focus more on enjoyable gameplay as you know. Mainly arcadey style.

I guess their marketing will be coordinated with publishers they cooperate with.
Oh yeah, for sure. I was just surprised is all, haha. I don't think I've ever known anyone that has felt that way about the games, so I was like "Whoa, really?!"

You don't enjoy mouse/keyboard controls in FPS games?! :O

Wild, haha.

Yeah, here's to hoping this game is solid. That's really all I'm hoping for. FINGERS CROSSED!

Looks really average and if it weren't for the Aliens branding, nobody would give a crap about this game.
Outriders, Deep Rock Galactic, L4D are all superior to this.
Can't really judge it that hard until we play it in all actuality. The Aliens brand is enough to carry it if it's solid. I mean, ever since I played L4D I wanted an Aliens game like it, it just made sense. So if it's done well, it could be really great.

IMO L4D 1/2 are classics, I mean, they basically built the blue print for PVE/PVP coop FPS titles. As well as Killing Floor 1/2.

In a world where games like Vermintide 1/2, Darktide, etc. exist, there's plenty of room for a similar Aliens title. They just honestly haven't shown enough of this.

YES! Finally someone fucking said it!

They turned xenomorph invasion into pumpkin shooter!
That's not new though, also not really accurate.

This takes place several years after Aliens, when colonial marines know what to fight back with and how.

Scenarios just like this have existed in the comics and novels for decades. This is just the first time we're seeing it in visual form that isn't an AVP game.

I think I'll pass. Can't stand team based shoot em ups akin to Left4Dead. And the Xenomorphs look to be half their size.

I guess it'll make for a fun weekend for people with friends.

Last aliens game I ever enjoyed was Aliens Infestation on the Nintendo DS.

Not feeling this one.

What are you talking about? The first AvP games were not cinematic walking simulators, nor do I want one. If anything, the new footage of Aliens Fireteam looks more like a cinematic walking simulator, because the aliens are mere cannon fodder. They don't pose a threat at all.

Multiplayer in AvP was way more intense. If an Alien managed to come close to you (and they did, because they were fast), you were dead. And certain Mods like AJL MOD focused on that aspect even more, because as an alien you could knock Marines over, which was a guaranteed kill.

By cinematic I mean it feels like you are in a film. And yes, the first AvP games (on GB and SNES) did not feel like this. And here you contradict yourself by stating that AFT is a cinematic walking simulator because you can move gazillion of Xenos easily. Since when arcadey games are cinematic walking sims?

And another contradiction. You have not played AFT at all. Thus you do not know how it feels to be swarmed from all sides by Xenos when your ammunition is limited.

It is pretty obvious that you prefer cinematic walking sims. And this is not a bad thing if it is your cup of tea.

They have.

It is a dedicated TPS based on the Alien franchise. Not cinematic walking simulator.
Who's talking about a walking simulator?

Looks to me like another shite game dragging a well known licence through the shitter, once again. So dont try to get pissy, i'm sure when the game tanks and has practically nothing that made the Aliens franchise what it was you'll feel the same

It's only been over 30 fucking years, i'm sure this game will set it straight though eh?

I enjoyed them more back then as a novelty (experimental times) and because there was not a lot of Alien/Predator games. Not as games for their gameplay. But obviously they were not the only games I played across the board.

In regards to K/M controls I do not like WASD movement. It feels like ice skating to me in comparison to analogue stick control. And I do not enjoy a mouse fire buttons. There is no punch feeling in them like in controller buttons or triggers. Obviously aiming with it is easier than with controller but it feels so unrealistic.

Anyways it is me being me.

Based on all released footage I am pretty sure that AFT meets my expectations gameplay wise. My only worries are in bots behaviors as I do not want to be dependent only on on-line players that know what they are doing.

You seem to be into walking sims, i.e. games where gameplay is afterthought. Not sensu stricto simulators.

You do not like arcadey games then it is ok with me. I guess Capcom's AvP is a bad game for you as well.

FYI AFT is a winner in my book already.

I remember you now, you were flogging to death that shitty Predator game. Another pile of shit '4 player' Co-op game

Yeah turned out great. So this ones a winner too? I'll take your word for it.

I mean, just let people enjoy what they enjoy too, why not? Lmao.

To be quite honest I played that game like crazy for awhile. But then it just kind of went stale. I'll revisit it again at some point once they've added more content.

Great? Nah. Tolerable? Totally. It's just sad cause it should've and could've been done VERY well, maybe it'll reach a point where it'll be the best it's ever been, but we'll see if that ever happens.

I honestly think Fireteam looks like it'll be superior to Hunting Grounds in a lot of ways. Just gotta see what's up with the overall content and replayability in the game.

Yes, P:HG turned out great. So off you go, walking sim lover.

Generally from what I have seen people put a lot of hours in P:HG in comparison to single player games. Even with all glitches issues and long waiting times to play as Predator.

It is not a perfect game but still great to me.

All depends on the type of Xeno. I believe the Xenos the majority are familiar with (Big chap/Drone, and Warrior) are "boss" characters, not the plentiful ones. You can find pictures of the Warrior Xeno holding up a marine and it looks accurate to the ones seen in Aliens.

On average between 7-9 feet tall and 15 feet long including the tail.

Queens are 15 feet tall or even larger.

If the game has more objectives other then shoot the things and has you track down a Hive queen it could be interesting.

I think the game is just going to be similar to World War Z though. Just a horde mode Xenomorph shoot em up that will throw beefier versions of Xeno's at you.

It's not inherently bad it's not what I would want in an "Alien" game.

But time will tell I suppose.

A game can make you feel like you are in a film AND have great videogame gameplay. AvP and especially the infamous "AJL MOD" achieved that. A cinematic walking simulator is a game where it looks like you are in danger, but actually there is never a real thread of the player losing. Like walking through a zoo instead of a real jungle or visiting a hauted house at a theme park. Cinematic walking simulators lack fundamental gameplay and AFT looks like that. Maybe the final product will be better, but from what I've seen it looks boring.

Yes, you are. Was it you who was trying to push on me there that The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima have better and more interesting gameplay than P:HG? And was afraid to make a proper comparisons?
Ghost of Tsushima has, granted. Not sure where you got The last of us 2 from, I think it's a shit game too..

I do not even know one game that has a great gameplay and make me feel like I am in a film. AvP2 was not anything special when it was released and no mod has changed it.

A walking simulator is a derogatory term which is used where you can explore a 3D environment by walking/running but it is not build around any special gameplay. A cinematic aspect (interactive movie) is added to it in a form of theme and 1 to 1 translation from a film as much as possible. An example of it is Alien: Isolation.

Thus you are wrong about AFT being such a game. It is pretty clear what gameplay it was built in mind (arcadey one) and there is nothing in it from a cinematic walking simulator. It is about 3 players fighting swarms of Xenos.

I guess you hate arcadey games and Capcom's AvP was one of the worst games made in 1994 for you.

I do not have time to remind myself by check what you and others were writing there. But people there took a stance that a game like P:HG can be created on PS4 with GoT or TLoU2 graphics. Obviously it is utter nonsense.

It’s a step up from Aliens: Colonial Marines. About 25 steps back from Alien: Isolation.

I’m sure I’ll love it, but it doesn’t look phenomenal. Especially when compared to similar games releasing soon. World War Z, Back 4 Blood, etc. I wish the Aliens franchise was more respected in the gaming-sphere.

Can you elaborate on how it as an arcadey style game is worse than Alien: Isolation which has a pathetic gameplay? And how it looks worse than other games you mentioned which I myself see as generic?
Also I do not understand why you see a game which does what game should do as something that does not respect the franchise?

Am not against this game but I would have preferred a single player offline game with a proper storyline. But willing to give it a shot

No idea about TLoU2, but i'll take your word for it. You dont have to try and sell me this game either, it's already in the bag as it's our next group game as we all loved Aliens, and still do..

Will it be good though? The jury is out. From what we can see mind you, it doesnt really catch that Aliens charm, it seems like you'll be four overpowered goons on a jolly. And I get that, I get that gaming can just be balls out fun, but Aliens? This? Ehhh, i'll reserve judgement.

I do not try selling any game to anyone. However unsubstantiated statements should be addressed whether somebody likes it or not.

Anyways the final decision is up to the end user.

And everyone has their own taste and preferences.

i think it looks awesome. really captures the second movie Aliens vibe imo. the extended hands on by press was cool too. the animations are a little stiff and it's def not a AAA budget, but it looks like a really solid coop horde mode or whatever you want to call it game.

40 bucks the base version? The latest IP-based game that did that was Dark Alliance and ... yeah, I'm going to wait for the reviews on that one.

I suspect it'll be a 5 or 6 out of 10. Not as horrendous as Colonial Marines, but definitely not AAA material.

Chivarly 2 also did that (though you can find it $20-$35), and it's stellar IMO. Also reviewed very well.

Dark Alliance just... looked really rough from the start IMO.

Can't really tell with this one, but obviously hoping for the best. Definitely getting regardless.

Is it just Fireteam or Fireteam Elite? i'm confused, and that's not a good sign

A subtitle has been changed from Fireteam to Fireteam Elite. And it was officially confirmed today along with a new trailer, release date, prices and pre-order options.
