Im leaning towards disappointment.

Our only hope for a good Halo game at this point it for 343 to finish this and MS to shutter them. Then maybe they can give it to a competent developer who can deliver.

I think people don't realise that a lot of people were impressed/happy with the last showing, it got 218k likes to 38k dislikes.

I think halo fans will be really happy with the title.

I think the console warriors just clung onto the Craig meme.

I thought the title looked fine myself, it could look better visually sure, didn't blow me away or anything.

I am really looking forward to seeing the multiplayer though :)

You're comparing a Xbox 360 game that was 720p from 2 generations ago to a game that hasn't released yet? Not only are you making yourself look like a fool, but you're claiming that the old Halo engine (which 343 owns and could easily use) has better graphics than their new engine which they've been building for the past 5 years! 😂 Surely they would just use the Reach engine right? It's time to put down the mouse and keyboard, put on you're spiderman pajamas and off to bed for you 😁

Halo 5 is rated 84 and that's the lowest rated mainline Halo game. There is no way this is worse than 5, Halo 4 is rated 87 and again this is certainly going to be better than that. All the rest are rated way above 90, it has a very good chance of rating 90 or above just going by past entries.
Halo hasn't got a AAA rating(90 or higher) since Bungie left.
The scores have been on the decline.
343 isn't up to the task. Why do you think MS sent three teams to help with Infinite?

Been let down too many times by 343i. Staten or not, too much shitty management. Company needs to be gutted and rebuilt with better leadership and more talent.
 
I think the improvement will be pretty big, but unfortunately I think some ppl are never really "impressed" I'm expecting a lot of "cross-gen" talk no matter how it looks.

It won't impress graphically but Halo has always had excellent gunplay and gameplay mechanics.

Three things I'm excited for

1. Glad they have gone back to try and replicate the original halo's art style, while it clearly has hit the "impressive graphics" that It could of been its a great move
2. Multiplayer .. Multiplayer ... pretty much what the majority of us in the Halo Community want to see
3. More open-world campaign play and how the equipment can be used, they teased us in the previews over the last few months on the sandbox.

While it won't be on the levels of ratchet and horizon (even those games are meant to run at 30 with graphic fidelity), Halo is much more than the graphics and if its solid in the gameplay and MP department will be happy especially with them announcing 120fps and cross-platform multiplayer.

EDIT: Also hope they add some Craig stuff in there aswell.

With what we have seen recently in Ratchet and Clank and the new Horizon the bar has kind of been set.

And I dont care how different the games are
If the bars been set with Ratchet than PS5 reached its peak early and we should expect must future games to be 30fps to look as good.

Remember HI is cross gen, and Halo was never the graphic showcase series on Xbox until 4.

Lots of studios work on one title at time, whether it is outsourcing or other reasons. (I wouldn't be surprised if it is more than 3 studios that have worked on infinite)

Tlou2 had 14 studios help make the game.

It doesn't mean the lead studio are not up to the task.

I personally feel the biggest issue for halo is there is so many other shooters on console now, where as back then halo was new and exciting.
 
I can guarantee I won't be impressed or disappointed, as Halo isn't even on my radar. I'll be impressed if we see Tunic, Ori 3 and Lost Odyssey 2.

Liked what I saw the 1st time, need to add some flash to the combat like destiny and tweak the engine and I’ll be happy. Destiny like FPS are my jam.
 
I don't put any stock in what game journalists or reviewers think so I'll respectfully decline. The last 12 months has proved that a lot of them are on the payroll.
They've been on the payroll since OoT. If you're just figuring that now you would have missed tons of great games over the years.

As some have said, just hoping for it to be a solid game. Seemed to lack direction from what was shown so i am hoping they spent the extra dev/polish time on things that mattered. Honestly i am expecting a disappointing campaign but a fun as hell multiplayer. And to be fair, some games i don't even play the campaigns anymore like COD i just jump into MP and have fun. Maybe that's all this game needs to be to be a success, i dunno?

This game is like Chinese Democracy from Guns N Roses. A mythical being hyped up for a long time with big hopes and dreams. It will be good but ultimately crushed under expectations.

What does "when the dust settles with the critic reviews" mean? Seven days after launch? A month after release date?
I don't really know with this one since it has multiplayer. So we may get some "in progress reviews" and stuff. I'd say after like 50 reviews are logged it's settled or close to it.

The story is terrible, the graphics aren’t great, but the gameplay isn’t actually bad like I’m not against having sprint and ads and I like more open levels - however lack of co op split screen is totally unforgivable. If they give split screen co op, similar gameplay with openness and ability to attack encounters in a sandbox-y type way I legit couldn’t give less of a fuck about the rest.

Good news is it'll be split screen co-op and all the rest!
 
I'm thinking the graphics will look a whole lot better, but the majority of people will be saying "it's just Halo in an open world" which, for the record, is cool with me especially if they nail the multiplayer.,
 
I think it will impress. The nuts and bolts of the game were never in doubt for me, but visually the demo last year was lacking in flair and polish. I think MS got the message loud and clear and I expect the game to look quite good.

the thing is, they have the artstyle down... it's just about polishing it up.... and not fucking up the gameplay and leveldesign of course... which they did in the past

- Sprinting
- Grappling hooks

There is no way, any way in hell, they blow this game presentation for a second year in a row. It's either absent from the conference or it's there in full glory. There is no way they will repeat whatever happened last year. The damage was too great. This game is being treated with extra scrutiny, and if it's not, shame on Microsoft.

Yeah I don’t mind the ads/sprinting or grappling hooks - actually prefer to have sprint and ads now just due to every other FPS having it so I’m used to it - But that pilot is annoying as fuck

no, more movement options is not better. clamber not only lower your weapon (which should generally NEVER happen in Halo) it also makes trick jumps a less useful skill and makes it so that maps are designed around it, deemphasizing trick jumps in general

clamber, Sprint, ADS on every weapon... all of that slows down the gameplay and dumbs it down to boot.
if you can do EVERY jump in the game facing backwards... then you have actual skill based movement and reward not only skill but also map knowledge to a way higher degree

Something like five years - the longest development period of any Halo - after the disaster of Halo 5, 343 Industries presented the single worst AAA reveal in the history of video games and became a laughing stock. They no longer gets the benefit of the doubt; 343 Industries is incompetent until they can prove otherwise.

I expect Halo Infinite will be a massive disappointment.

If it doesn't look at least this good ill be disappointed. This was shown in 2018. Looks fantastic, and they still have ray tracing and whatnot to add on top of this fidelity. (although they wont have that implemented by launch I believe)


But yeah, no excuse for this not to look at least this good on Series X and PC. It should be a technical showcase on XBSX. Which should still be possible, but we will see.

Infinite didn't have 4 studios working on it at 1st...3 were sent after the delay.

I will just say this, they had 12 more months to fix what they think was broke. If it is not released in an absolute perfect state on day one, well, that will be the measuring stick.
 
It wouldn't matter what they show, old Halo fans will bitch and whine endlessly, Sony fans will nitpick anything they can cos they have nothing comparable on that machine.

I would be ok with grappling hook as a one time pick up. I am worried though that 343 will be over reliant on the grappling hook to navigate the open world.

Reach’s MLG speed would be perfect. Movement in the last trailer was really slow without sprint.

yeah in Campaign we gotta see how they use it, but it is confirmed to be a pickup in MP (it will have Halo 3 like pickups like the shield we saw in the gameplay trailer)

movement speed being slow is the side effect of having sprint in the first place, sprint would be useless if your base movement was fast already, so they artificially slow movement down

Overwatch, Crossfire, Valorant, Doom (doom has clamber tho... which I am not a fan of), Counter Strike GO... so basically all the successful ones except CoD have no sprint, no ADS and no clamber (except Doom) as a standard ability.
Overwatch has Solider 76 which has a dedicated sprint ability but no other character has... and some have rifles with ADS but that ADS is comparable to classic Halo ADS

edit: Paladins... does paladins have Sprint and clamber? I don't think it does... some characters have ADS tho

edit: Valorant has ADS, but it is 100% optional for basically every gun (they only put it in for the CoD noobs let's be real... just like Halo, but in Halo it actually affects gun spread! and fuck that)

They already low balled it in some PR communication (saying that its graphics aren't very good or something).

So if it disappoints after that kind of communication would be pretty bad.
