Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart 15 min gameplay 4K

It looks really smooth for 30 fps though. I'm generally in the 60 FPS is better always camp, but this doesn't look all stuttery like a lot of 30 fps games seem to. Insomniac is really incredible with their animation....

Now I have two reasons to get a PS5 (this and Demons Soul), just need one more big game and some freaking PS5 availability and it will be time to retire the PS4 Pro......

Insomniac games has a way of making 30fps seem way smoother than most. I don’t know why that is. Spider-Man for instance looks incredibly smooth at 30fps.

im really curious how much of a downgrade 60 FPS will be. The fidelity I’m seeing in 4K30 with RT may be too good to pass up

That's not confirmation of anything. Where is the official confirmation?
Nothing official. But, a betting man would take those odds that its releasing for both. Though, some of the hardcore Xfans are going celebrate like they won the lottery if it shakes out that way.

Im of the mind, Sony is going to have a native PS5 version with all the bells and whistles, regardless if they have a PS4 version.

I thought the worlds looked cool, but the first set of traversal looks clunky. I mean it just looks slow and cumbersome to wall run and jump. Everything else looked good.

Noticed that.

They have only said it will have a 60 fps mode. That was confirmed last year.

Nothing to do with a day 1 patch.

Miles Morales has 3 modes - 4K30+RT / 60 / & 60+RT (added via patch)

So far, we know R&C will have the same 4K30+RT / 60.

Yeah, don't care about the 30fps mode. Give me 60 or give me death

Graphics overall look good with good animations, but some aspects don't look that good. I mean, the water, some of the textures -some pop-in during the gameplay- and the green monster with tentacles to name a few things are not precisely at Pixar level. And obviously physics and lightning are not even in the same universe as a modern Pixar movie.

Gameplay/story wise looks pretty boring.

Cinematic quality Depth of fields with high quality per object motion blur and temporal techniques which is Insomniac using for anti aliasing, makes the game look very smooth and Cinematic with 30fps.
Edit: add on with chromatic aberration

Ironic coming from the fanbase that still posts Craig memes to this day.

I would love if Ragnarok was developed for PS5 only, that would obviously mean better graphics and all. But the facts point in the opposite direction, sadly.

But yeah, apparently the great conspiration of Xbox fans secretly rooting for God Of War Ragnarok to be a PS4 game has been uncovered.

I've been saying this since it was announced. God of War came out on 2018, there's no way they can release a sequel this year nor next year. The only way would be if it were a cross gen title.

Not even horizon is going to be released this year, and that was released in 2016, and of course it's going to be a cross gen title.

If you want a next gen only title you'll need at least 4 to 5 years of development. Since they didn't get dev kits until like 2018 and they were still working on God of War how the hell do you people think it's going to be released this year at all? This is going to be released next year and will be cross gen.

This was brilliant.

For one it looks stunning but most importantly for me it just had such a chill calm Pixar tone to it.

Dont want to spent £70 on this if it is only 12 hours at launch however bit when they showcased all the new stuff they're adding to the game (open areas, rifts, Clank challenges etc) it seems this game really will be less linear and have more content than the last.

Just noticed a weird pop-in like effect, but to me seems more like the CPU positioning the asset on the right place too late (maybe because the physics? Idk). Not really important. I/O in general is doing a great job.

Does it have gyro aim?

Explain R&C, DeS and Returnal.

To the people whing about the gameplay getting repetitive... Have you ever played a third person shooter before?

R and C series has some of the most inventive weapons, tight controls, great gun mechanics and varied gameplay of any shooter...

If it's anything like the last ga.es it will hopefully also have...

Hidden Items
New Game +
Skill points to gather
A development room you need to unlock

And thats not including what they showed like
Mini-games (hacking)
Puzzles
Gold bolts to collect
Guns to purchase and upgrade
New abilities to unlock
Flying sections
Chase sections
Arena's back :D
Clank missions
Optional rifts to explore

Seriously excited for this one

Did they say if we're getting a 60fps mode?

Ratchet was made by a different team than Spiderman and it last about 10 hours. Easy to put out games that last a quarter of your competition, no?

What's DeS? Demons Souls? If that's the case there's nothing to explain there. It's a copy paste with better graphics, it probably took them less than a year to make it, more like half a year.

Returnal is an indie game, of course it wouldn't take them much time to do it. That's why there's no story nor long cutscenes, there's not a lot of production going for that game.

the thing with RC graphics engine, is they always enveloped the background with a monotone type of haze. it makes the overall scene per scene looks less detailed to save on steaming costs, was hoping the new ssdi/o would have done away with such legacy tricks

Insomniac have officially overtaken Naughty Dog as Sony's top studio in my opinion. The stuff they are putting out is just off the charts.

Spider Man
Miles Morales
Ratchet and Clank PS5 patch
Rift apart

like what the hell man

Well he is not wrong.

Gameplay wise is nothing we didnt see in the PS2/PS3 era.

As far as we can see, everyone is praising how amazing the game looks, not how it plays.
Why change something when it works great? Mario hasn't significantly changed since 1996, it just works. Same applies to Ratchet.

because thats the point of a sequel, to go in different directions, to improve, to take chances. Mario should be faulted to hell and back since forever for this, most of nintendo's properties. But its nintendo, we dont do that here, in the interwebz. Ratchet is just a silly game of jumping around, its something you would put the 5 year old cousin to play when he visits until his mother says they're leaving. We're only pretending this is some goty material because thats what we do with every sony game, whatever that is.

It helps not only mix up the gameplay more but also adds more replayability, by giving her an entirely different gameplay feel/set of skills and weapons. What I was hoping for is similar to what they did for Clank in a Crack in Time.
She's the same kind of creature though so it wouldn't make sense to make her play much differently than he does, she's not a robot and for all we know she may have a few individual moves etc.

This game is a PS5 exclusives Insomniac confirmed it back in November, it's not coming to PS4 it wouldn't work in the same way. This game was basically made to show off the SSD, can you imagine trying to play this with the loading screens you'd get on an HDD?

Looks like the same old great ratchet gameplay with some added sunset overdrive wall running and in air dashing. I’m so fucking in!

just not at 30fps. I hope they can lock in the 60fps mode with raytracing. I have faith in insomniac.

What part you don't get? You actually think someone pays for graphics?

Everyone should tell Sony to fuck off with those prices.

Mate, they've been $60 for like 12 years or more. Games like this show how much extra development there is and you still don't wanna pay? Fine, wait till it comes down.

Yeah but we also know that almost the entirety of GOW was developed after the 2016 E3 demo, so in a little under two years. And they’ve done no DLC like most other Sony first party

SSM are extremely efficient, it really just depends how long they needed for preproduction

Just let the customers decide. Mario sells a bajillion copies every time because people love it. There is no rational reason to change stuff too much. Just add a couple of new things, make it look better and 95% of the customers will love it.
