XBox Series X is looking more and more appealing.

I'm not surprised. The budgets for these games pretty much demand that you focus only on blockbusters and proven studios. It reduces the ability to take risks. This is hardly unique to Sony. It is happening industry wide and has been for some time now.

TLOU remake makes this story really hard to believe. The remaster is even included on PS5’s PS+ Collection.

This is Jason Schreier we are talking about, so every single detailed discussed in the article should be taken as a straight up fact.

And Bloodborne was also included in the PS+ Collection, but just wait and see how they're going to sell you the PS5 remaster later this year.

I like TLOU1, but if this is legitimate it really doesn’t need a remake especially considering it already got one. I guess this is what people get for saying TLOU1 is superior to TLOU2. That energy and resources should go to a new game or even the sequel imo. If a game like Days Gone 2 can’t get approved, what chance did Team Japan really have?

Remaking TLOU1 a game that don't need a remake.... SMH, everyday there is a Sony news that prove and reiforce the fact that Jim and Hermen are the 2 fuck retard no brain, and probably they picked TLOU becasue it's going to have a tv show... i don't give a flying fuck about the movies and tv shows, i care about the GAMES, Sony is going total wrong direction

As i suspected they seems to go super safe and focus it all on the big AAAA sequels ... or remake. Games like Ico, Last Guardian, or gravity rush don't have place no more in the modern Sony lead by the 2 clowns jim and hermen... They're destroiyng the brand and everything that past Playstation CEOs has build.

Why in the absolute flying fuck would you remake TLOU1? Opinions on the game aside, it's playable on PS3, 4 and 5 and hasn't really aged. TLOU2 is mechanically the same damn game with better AI. What a gigantic waste of time and money.
Which is exactly what Herman Hulst thought and made the right call. He questioned why it needed a bigger budget than other remakes which don't even have a base PS4 engine in The Last of Us 2 already.

Edit: seems it was T1X remake that was given some doubt by Herman. Probably something else then.

I’d like to see a fuller picture. A comparison of studios and games. Maybe it’s in the article, but I haven’t read it yet. That would let us know if it’s really an eggs in one basket situation. Either way, going too hard on the business and forgetting the market is a bad call and maybe the repercussions will be felt in time. Maybe he’s right and there won’t be any.

What's the point of this article besides spoiling (IF true) what some teams are doing within Sony as an excuse for drama?
it's a news story talking about the culture within the Sony Playstation Studio at the moment and the issue that some of the smaller teams have faced. Given that they are the biggest game publisher in the world in terms of brand recognition imo then it's news-worthy. It also highlights the work from Visual Arts Service Group.

Eh, I’m not that gullible.
It’s rumour until it’s not.
TLOU remake is a red flag of it not looking likely. He should have said Uncharted remaster, that would have been more believable IMO.

Are you talking about it right now in a thread that's already on page 2? The article's done its job.

It’s baffling how many dumb questions are asked by people who clearly didn’t even skim through the article.

Don’t know how much of it is true but it’s an interesting perspective and it actually explains a lot of recent events (Japan Studio for example).

Holy. There is so much information in there. Rumors I should call it though, because no idea what to believe there.

Will wait until we actually see something. Behind the scenes a lot of stuff is happening all the time and we don't even have the faintest idea. (this is not just Sony or Sony studios).

For me personally it sounds awesome if they put more money into Naughty Dog, because they clearly are the best game studio in the world and the #1 reason I buy a Playstation console.

So yeah if that means TLOU1 Remake, TLOU2 for PS5, new Uncharted, new Multiplayer game and a new Fantasy Game from Naughty Dog then fuck yeah amazing.

(though I don't think TLOU1 needs a remake and I would prefer new IPs, but talent is finite and I would rather take TLOU1 Remake over Days Gone 2. I have to add that I doubt that we will see a TLOU1 Remake though because the game still looks and plays absolutely fantastic).

How the hell are you all shocked by the idea of a TLOU with PS5 graphics and TLOU2 features when you were all getting super excited about paying extra for a Spider-Man remaster six months ago?

We know multiplayer is on the way to PS5 and we know a TV series is in the works. A remake is an extremely safe bet.

So why is this considered a hit piece? It made sense for SONY. This is not a low-priority IP we are talking about. Both The last of us and Uncharted are the poster boy IP´s for SONY.

Also: why is the article so negative when it comes to the decision to go for big blockbuster titles? It´s a business decision based on the great success of the past years. Quirky little games are great and often innovative. But they also don´t sell that good. So yeah, I can see why SONY is focusing on what is working best. Big budget triple A story driven games.

He's just spoiling what he has learned some teams are doing adding some drama elements that are his own interpretation of the facts to make hits on Bloomberg.
It's crystal clear.
A remake being handled by the (now expanded) team who made the game in first place is bad compared to let a small new team doing it? Quality wise no one would think that's the case but it's portrayed in an absurd negative way because he wants to focus on drama.
Within huge companies teams are reshuffled and projects assigned change all the time.
Also the fact that Sony wants to make huge blockbuster success stories and is not interested in niche things has been clear the whole PS4 gen.
He's just dressing spoilers as a scoop.

Happy to be an Xbox fanboy. 🤗

Really ugly what Playstation turns into...I was never into Sony's Blockbuster IPs like Uncharted, Horizon and Spiderman and bought a PS4 because of games like Nioh, Persona, Bloodborne or The Last Guardian. These were fantastic games you couldn't get on an Xbox.

Now, Playstation is just another western console with a couple of AAA-Games that try to appeal to everybody. Sad, boring, neglectable.

So hang on a minute. Why would anyone try to remake a game without talking with the original developers first? Especially when they are still very much active on the franchise, extremely prominent in the industry, and part of the same development group?

And how the fuck is copying someone else's work "taking creative leadership"?

What's the news? Sony wants to make big games and it's a risk. Jason wait until you find out the Pope is Catholic, that will really blow your mind. I dont understand what evidence Jason has that Gamepass is the correct option either. No articles by him on that. Getting roasted by Barlog and Druckmann on Twitter must have done a number on him.

What were you saying to me yesterday?
What I was telling you yesterday about Sony not abandoning Kojima Productions immediately after Death Stranding (they approached them with a pitch for a Silent Hill project in early 2020) has nothing to do with WWS management being stupid and not seeing the potential the Days Gone franchise has.

WHAT?!? THEY KILLED DAYS GONE 2?!?! FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK

Why do they make a cliffhanger ending if they don't plan to continue the story? They did the same shit with The Order, motherfuckers.
Man I'm so close to going mad at Jim again lmaooooo I cannot believe this
