Sony is a fucking mess right now another studio they've had connections with and lost.
It's a studio that so far hasn't done a whole lot worth talking about, secondly this is all a rumor and third what about them is a mess? They just had the biggest console launch in history, provided exclusive games to the PS5 from first party and will continue to do so this year. MS hasn't done any of that, they had a bungled launch, Halo looked awful and had to be delayed a year with no other 1st party game even announced for 2021 etc I don't get the doom and gloom people here unless you are all just xbox fans trying to create some narrative that's not based on truth.

I have a feeling that because Sony isn't doing PR every day or doing constant paid content marketing masquerading as "articles", gamers get anxious. They want news. They want info they can chew on. Remember how PISSED people were when Sony wasn't revealing the PS5? People thought there were delays, that there were hardware issues etc etc. Then they revealed it and the games showcase pretty much demolished what MS had revealed. And now it's the fastest selling PS ever, still can't get one, absolutely crushing it, multiple exclusive games, two more launching within the next two months or so ...

And yet some are trying to push the narrative that "Sony is a mess." It doesn't add up. The only thing that matters is results, and Sony is currently crushing it in that department, whether people like it or not.

Pretty much nailed it. It's exacty the same as the few months before launch where every day Sony wasn't shouting from the rooftops the PS5 was doomed. Not gloating about BC? The PS5 couldn't run PS4 games. Not gloating about power? OMG 9TF dead in the water. It seems people never learn, this place is becoming so negative it ain't even funny.

You obviously don’t own one. Plenty of great games, even with just Gamepass itself.

New and on GP:
Outriders
The Medium
Gears Hivemind
MLB The Show

Are you the type who only plays exclusives? If so, I’m wondering if you’ll get MLB The Show now that is multi plat.
Ah so games you’d still get on gamepass on the Xbox one. Damn man that’s really exciting.

No I don’t play only exclusives. I play the bests games I can when possible. Just so happens I have 3 games only on PlayStation that have been highlights so far.

MGSV was terrible so don't get your hopes up, he really hasn't made a good game in quite a while. People can talk up 60ps all they want about MGSV, gameplay was the only decent thing about it.

I hated that game too. At least we know this next game will be original. Maybe he will give me that horror game he wanted to make with Del Toro or a mech action game like Zone Of Enders. He did want to make a third ZOE game.

A business deal is a business deal. If a deal gets made with Microsoft and Kojima, and that deal involves a game staying with Microsoft and the Xbox Game Pass eco-system, that's what it will end up being.
Right. That's more of a matter-of-fact statement that I wasn't contesting :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Considering Gamepass titles are also available on PC day one and Kojima has a history of porting his games over to PC, I think it's safe to assume this potential new game will also be on PC through Gamepass. So we could potentially be able to play a new Kojima game on two platforms without paying much money at all. Great!

I believe we would've seen something similar with Stadia, had that deal ever gone through. Ah well...

The notion that Kojima's titles have never been exclusive is laughable on its face.
To be fair, I never said that. I even referenced two titles that were created for specific platforms in that initial post. Mainly to highlight that Kojima is not the PlayStation guy, never was. So that sentiment in the thread is throwing me off.

The first Metal Gear Solid released on PS1 in 1998 and remained the only place to play that game, to my knowledge, till about 2004 when it finally got a remake on the GameCube.
I believe that's incorrect. MGS was released on PC in 2000. MGS 1-3 are also available on multiple platforms now.

MGS2, I think, had a quicker 1 year turnaround on the original Xbox, but then Metal Gear 3 released on PS2 in 2004, and I believe took a whopping 7 years to make it onto a non-playstation platform. I think Metal Gear Solid 4 is still exclusive to playstation. Either way the games industry has changed quite a bit. If the money and the deal is right, anything is possible.
MGS4 has more issues than not being on available to play on Xbox, Nintendo, or PC. To this day it's still only natively available on PS3. You can't even play it without streaming on other PlayStation platforms like PS4 & PS5 as you need to be subscribed to PSNow to even play it, and that's only through streaming. Not exactly ideal here imo. There seems to be larger issues with porting MGS4 over.

Again, I have no issue issue with these deals. If 1st or 3rd party publishers see opportunity to collaborate with some of my favorite game designers & studios to make more games, then I'm happy.
My issue is the general response and the direction the discourse in these threads routinely go in now. I know it's mostly in good fun, but sometimes it's like stepping into a thread on /v/ (save for the slurs lol)

MLB The Show 21 showing up on Game Pass day one should be evidence enough of that. Outriders, a major 3rd party exclusive from Square Enix, also day one on Game Pass should be more evidence of how times have changed. And I'm pretty damn confident every single person on this forum would have dismissed any idea that Microsoft would outright buy a major publisher like Bethesda by buying their whole parent company for $7.5 billion. Anything is possible nowadays. Hell, expect different publishers to potentially start collaborating with one another on specific major releases depending on whether or not a third party is willing to cover the development costs. You never know in today's industry.
I agree with you that the industry is changing. However from my perspective, with this piece pf information it's more like, 'the more things change the more they stay the same'
1st party publishers pursuing exclusivity deals continue to be a staple within the video game industry.
The more completion between publishers the better, usually means more games for gamers.

Gamepass is great option for the value it provides. Although it's not the same as actually owning a copies of a game.
Gamepass has its pros and cons relative to owning copies of a game.
Owning a copy of a game has its pros & cons relative to a service like Gamepass or PSNow.

Grubb is not just "one random dude". He's largely known as being accurate.

Either way, I don't care for Kojima's games. So really it's whatever to me.
It would've been cool if Death Stranding wasn't what it was. I liked the World and concept. But it look me a while to finish.

It's funny how people still say that Microsoft really needs Japanese developers on board.

There aren't many good Japanese developers these days, and nobody in Japan buys consoles. Yeah, so crucial.

This would still be a cool PR win for them, but the real powerhouse of gaming now is America, and they already have a huge slate of US developers and a virtual monopoly over the western RPG, perhaps the biggest single player genre nowadays.

Compared to that, Kojima is small beer.
There are still a healthy amount of very good and talented Japanese developers left, but most of them just don’t have the colossal budgets and marketing of the Western developers. There are definitely genres Japanese developers are much more proficient in than Western developers(fighting, action, survival horror, etc) and imho their gameplay is unparalleled. Just because Western games are more popular or hyped beyond belief doesn’t mean they are better.

Microsoft could use more Japanese games because I feel they really need some new blood who can create unique games their other developers aren’t capable of. Quality-wise, pragmatically speaking are Microsoft’s developers and exclusives really cutting it so far against the competition in all categories?

Why? Just play it on wherever they hitched their wagon. PC, or wherever else gamepass ends up and get it for $1. Listen to your friend⬇️
Sometimes I want to bash my head against the wall with the stupidity of comments like this, yes PC is a better option but AGAIN NOT EVERYONE WANT TO DEAL WITH A PC!!!! How fucking hard is it to understand this simple concept, just because Xbox is also on PC doesn't mean shit. People have preferences. Learn to accept them.

Yeah I don't disagree with much of that, I just don't see why it's some kind of commercial imperative. 20 years ago, sure, but now I think it barely registers as a weakness.

Who does Sony even have now? Polyphony? It's not worth Microsoft worrying about, especially now they have so many good western devs.

I am happy to hear we might get another Kojima game. If its a MS publishing? Cool, means it will probably have a solid budget and decent marketing. AND hopefully (for me) it comes to Win PC at launch. I loved DS and excited to see where he takes us next.

You know, that is a valid point. I think Microsoft could use the actual talent and skills from Japan, but people are overestimating those importance on Microsoft’s consoles. Japanese developers or games most likely won’t do much in Japan and help with console sales on XBOX. If people want want those Japanese games and experiences, they generally associate that with Nintendo and Sony by default.

I own a Game Pass subscription, so I own whatever is in Game Pass. There are no cons to Game Pass for a gamer like me who understands and knows exactly what I'm getting. Plus, I will always be able to afford it. Microsoft's first party titles never leave Game Pass, and that lineup is about to be turbo charged by Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda. I really don't see Microsoft ever getting rid of Game Pass as a service. This thing is going to become more common. It will have copycats eventually. Microsoft is going to make sure they don't miss this boat like they missed the boat on a lot of other things.

Gaming isn't going to become less popular, digital distribution and streaming services will not become less popular. COVID has effectively changed entertainment forever with all these major blockbusters dropping day one onto these big streaming services, and we're heading that way with games too. Look at Game Pass's impact with Outriders.

Gears 5 was on Gamepass day 0, No. 1 on most played charts during launch week, and then.... After 4 weeks went to No. 40 on most played charts. Yeah, GamePass helped Gears 5. :/. And Gears 5 never leaved GamePass.

What is so surprising about this? What does "most played" mean? Do they even provide the number of simultaneous accounts playing their games? If you don't give us any numbers, all that "impact" is meaningless.

I've only seen Sony fans saying "Suddenly Xbox fans will like death stranding"

All the Xbox fans I've seen here are still saying that death stranding is shit.

Hide the rage
No doubt. Doesn't matter if Death Stranding 1, 2, or 9 comes to Xbox. Game looks like crap. Every video I saw was either a weird dream sequence or a dude with a giant box on his back walking up a hill. And the more boxes on his back the dumber it looked.

The lead actor looks like he's stoned too.

Wow so ur lumping people who had that opinion as xbox gamers? Most the people moaning about death stranding are people who actually played it and pre ordered it thinking it was like metal gear. Ie. Playstation players. Kojima had always had a good realtionship with xbox. Just because he didnt choose xbox for death stranding doesnt mean he was a playstation zealot.
Guess you weren’t around when MGS4 came out for PlayStation 3. The amount of dismissing Xbox gamers did for MGS games was quite high especially since this was before Xbox was known for having “no games”

Hopefully Microsoft buys the MGS IP from Konami and let's Kojima go to town. Although I'm not sure there's much story to be told at this point. 5 was stretching to find new story material.

I hope it's good and he gets a lot of money to pursue whatever the hell he wants to make.

Death Stranding was weird as fuck, but I loved it.

Damn Outriders is doing major numbers it make that Battlefield 6 rumor to launch day 1 into gamepass like 100? believable now.

If BF6 comes to GP, I won't feel ripped off paying for a game I bail from after experiencing the same clunky UI and frozen lobbies! Got burned with BF 4 and BF 1. Didn't roll the dice on BF 5.

If it sucks, fine. MS and EA can split my $1 GP fee. lol

Whatever it is please do not suck ass like Death Stranding. No shitty inventory management or balancing bullshit. It doesn't even have to be fun, I put ~ 10 hours into Death Stranding before I couldn't take it, so the game could just be a poor shooter or platformer with weird Kojima shit in it and I will endure.
