Genuinely Generous
I can't believe this:messenger_loudly_crying: I was going to buy it for almost $ 30. I guess they assigned eddie4 eddie4 as Ps Plus principal. Congratulations @eddie4:messenger_clapping: :messenger_grinning:

its not that hard

if you bought FF7R then you get PS5 upgrade for free
if you downloaded PS+ version of FF7R then you have to pay for PS5 upgrade
That’s the stupidest thing yet. What difference does it make. I’m not liking this one bit, and I already have the game. This is a bad precedent.

Upgrades aren't free to make. There isn't a "upgrade to ps5 button" in the game dev tools.
It takes time, resources and money.
It's a fair trade-off, considering the age of the title.
Next up, ps+ games are missing the last level because it costs money to make games

The lack of free PS5 upgrade is acceptable imo considering how huge and how relatively young FF7R is.

What I can't accept is what the developers of Destruction AllStars have done. The game is technically free in PS+, but they've locked out a part of the singleplayer mode and expect you to pay for it with real money. They didn't even bother hiding it as some extra DLC, the content is already there waiting to be unlocked with premium credits.

It's easy to forget that not everyone on PS+ is a PS5 owner. So the FF7R logic is fine:

-FF7R is for PS4 owners who might not be upgrading to a PS5 anytime soon.
-Maquette is for PS5 owners.

For me, as a PS5 owner, the FF7R PS+ offer is just a huge demo, I'd still wait for the PS5 version to play the full thing.

My only question is: If I don't claim the FF7R PS+, and there is a discount sale on the PS4 version of the game, can I buy the discounted version and upgrade for free later.

Yeah, that's not even that surprising. A lot of games on PS+ are just using your subscription to try and sell DLC to an audience of millions who would never even get the game. Makes evil sense from a business perspective, but really diminishes the value of the subscription for gamers.

Even without that next gen upgrade it's pretty crazy that they're putting FFVIIR on PS+ so early. I was waiting for it to drop to like $20 but this is even better.

Weird decision on FF. The upgrade is just a minor patch that mainly fix broken textures in the game.
The DLC would still be a separate purchase.

My main point is that in other games it's DLC stuff that's clearly separate from the main product and often added over time (The Sims 4 can be a good example). Sure they're preying on people liking the base game and paying to get the additional content, but the base game is there no matter what. In Destruction AllStars you're getting an incomplete product right from the start so it's not exactly a fully "free" PS+ game, because a part of the base content can't be unlocked without paying real money.

I'm curious if they'll leave it like that when the game leaves PS+. Would be super scummy to charge people 20 dollars and then expect them to pay more to unlock certain parts of the game which aren't DLC content.

There is no paid upgrade at all.
They would be stupid not to offer some cheap upgrade path.
Maybe something like "if you buy the DLC, the PS5 upgrade is included". I guess if the price is right some would buy the DLC just to get the 60fps :messenger_winking:

The point is to sell the PS5 version. If you get it on PS+ and you like the game enough to pay for the PS5 enhancement, then buy it and pay the devs.

The standard PS4 version will be found for 20$/30$. That’s it right there. If you’re too cheap for this, even though it’s FF7R... well you gotta wait some more.

I guess this means FF7:R is coming to game pass next month if its going to be released on Xbox.

If so, how long will it stay? See....that's what I love about PS+. It is will always be there. Even if I stop subbing and come back.....there it is. Pretty great.

Lol. They should also make the games for free in the first place.

And why am I being charged for the console? Gimme that shit for free.
You charge for the PS+ fucks. And when you put the game on sale, you release a gimped version. 70$ should have been the default with all DLC.

Sony's PS+ offering has gone to another level lately. If you're a new PS5 owner, the amount of quality games compares favorably to any full rental service.

Agreed.

If someone is new to PS that didn't own a PS4 and got a PS5, they asses going to be busy for a few months lol

Looks like Sony had a plan for PS Plus when 2021, they sound like they only want some massive AAA last gen titles on it. Solid plan if you ask me, they are from last gen, not much next gen games coming out and who is saying no to such titles?

Jimbo keeps on fire with these PS+ games. Guess im playing FF7 Remake sooner than i planed, as my plan is to only buy the entire game collection when the FF7 story is finished.

Maquette, was another game i had interest in playing.

Is Remnant any good?

I just Plat'd Maquette on my PS5. Really solid little puzzle game, and a very easy/quick plat. Can be done in less than a few hours if you can nail the speed runs.

Nice offering for PS+

I tried out Remnant, it def needs a PS5 patch. I'll stick to the PC version for now.

I mean i guess there is no reaosn for me to claim the ps plus copy if i have my disc version since i will need the disc for thr upgrade.
That’s what I did. But I’m curious if for some banal reason I’ll be locked out of the upgrade despite also having the disc.

Sony is some kind of dumb diverging sku’s on ps+ vs retail. It’s a first and a concern for future games being hobbled just because they are on ps+.

Getting the game via plus has always been a 1:1 experience as a purchase as long as you hold membership. This changes the play field.

You may have to delete the plus version as it will check your version.

Not sure how the system handles it exactly but I went through similar by owning Dtiveclub and also had PSPLUS version.

would laugh my ass off if the next gen upgrade ended up on gamepass free
thats pretty shitty that you cant upgrade it even if you want to pay
