Isn't this like 1 game these days?
What is the point in temporary timed exclusive games, much less temporary timed content in games? If you're gonna play kid games, you're gonna get kid prizes. Surely it'd be better to buy some studios and bring them under the PS Studios banner properly?

Their exclusives also cost a shitload of money with marketing.Doesn't seem like much when you think about how much their exclusives make.
Where did you get that info? They have almost $45Bi in cash to do whatever they want. I expect way more.
Isn't this like 1 game these days?
Yeah, it's like 7 or 8 games.... maybe many more depending on how dependent on PlayStation sales the series or developers are traditionally.Only for ridiculous shit like Read Dead or COD
I doubt if you put Demon's Souls and Returnal budget together it would even come to $100 million
Yeah, it's like 7 or 8 games.... maybe many more depending on how dependent on PlayStation sales the series or developers are traditionally.
It's not $329 million for the entire generation. This is just the amount they spent in 7 months on external contracts
They're not going to stop there
From the thread of their fiscal reportWhere did you get that info?
The marketing probably costs more than the game. Which again makes this 329 million seem like not very much.Their exclusives also cost a shitload of money with marketing.
329 mil?, dumb. Meanwhile, MS is spending billions on 1st party studios on top acquiring massive 3rd party publishers/studios AND practically giving insane budgets on new titles that are in the works now.
329 mil is very underwhelming if I am being honest and feels like they are being greedy and lazy. I don't know what or how many games will even use $329. Current gMe budgets are extremely high and for next gen titles seems super low. Then again I am not an analyst or a financial advisor/expert i an only observing from what I see other companies do.
This doesn't bode well for the future and Sony for me personally though. God of War Raganarok and Ratchet are currently the only games I am looking forward too, and Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.
While those are solid titles, that's nowhere near enough of they want to compete with folks from Rare, Playground Games, The Inititative, Bethesda studios that includes Arkane, id software, Machinegames, Tangoworks, inXile, Obsidian and others to come.
Sure they have Naughty Dot, but Naughty dog releases a title like once or twice per generation in a span of 7 or so years. We only got Unchartdd 4 which was a good game but a fatigued franchise if you ask me and of course the swan song that was TLOU 2.
They are gonna need to invest way more money, because right now the amount of games Sony has announced is a small amount compared to MS.
We already have a good road map for MS titles such as Awoved, Fable, Forza Motorsport 8, Forza Horizon 5, Everwild, State of Decay 3, Perfect Dark, Hellblade 2, inXile 1st Person RPG, Halo Infinite and whatever else gets announced this year.
With Sony officially we only know of God Of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank, Returnal, Gran Turismo 7 and Final Fantasy 16. While both companies have promising titles, I just feel that Sony needs to announce more games soon and start investing a bit more money.
Bluepoint not being acquired to this point baffles me. Great job with Shadow of the Colossus and Demons Souls Femake. Wtf you doing? Why you not buy Bluepoimt sony lol.
Maybe I am speaking to early. We gonna have yo wait till this summer too see some new exciting stuff during E3 Digital. Either way, my point still stands, please acquire more studios and/or invest more money in new titles and deals if you wanna keep your customers excited.
I am glad I have both systems, at the end of the day ill be able to enjoy best of both worlds and I highly suggest you do same.
You have a point in regards to MS being desperate to produce games due to how last gen went on for them, but with same token dude the amount of studios they already have bought and amount of games we already know is quite insane.Let’s wait until MS acquisitions actually start producing games on a consistent basis. Sony doesn’t NEED to acquire more studios, but it definitely has the resources to do so. MS on the other hand is desperate to start producing 1st party successes on a consistent basis.
As for Bluepoint, I think it makes perfect sense to test the waters before buying them. I would say that now is the time to buy them.
It is on Sony earnings docs.Receipts, please.
It is for the next 7 years. It's not $329 million for the entire generation. This is just the amount they spent in 7 months on external contracts
They're not going to stop there
Second party*It has nothing to do with timed exclusives.
These are first party games developed by external developers
It is for the next 7 years.
These are the contracts already signed for the next 7 years.
Second party*
So this will be the FFXVI , 7 Remake and Persona 6 exclusive money.
You're right, my bad.Nope those are 3rd party games
Yeap... they basically will be paying the contracts as they happened... at least one of the contract ends with 7 years. They've signed contracts and they have a time frame of seven years to fully pay for them, and they might not even need the full 7 years to pay for them.
That also doesn't mean they're not going to sign additional contracts in the next financial year
Thanks for providing the link, that's quite surprising.Yeah, I get it.
From the thread of their fiscal report

Sony is the biggest game company in the world they make make more money than Nintendo and xbox combineThanks for providing the link, that's quite surprising.
This is third party deals not first Party.Doesn't seem like much when you think about how much their exclusives make.
You got numbers to back that up?Sony is the biggest game company in the world they make make more money than Nintendo and xbox combine
In what way? You can't just dump $100m on a studio and say make more games! There are only so many developers to hire and most studio don't scale well. You can see that in how an AC game is made by 900 people across three studios and the quality is lower than most Sony 1st party studios with 100 people.Fair enough. I'd still like to see them investing in some of their actual first-party studios, though.
What Sony first party has 100 people and make better games than AC?In what way? You can't just dump $100m on a studio and say make more games! Money cannot instantly be spent and create quality products.

I agree with you except that with the exception of Bethesda stuff Microsoft first party is still mostly garbage. Im not convinced any of these bethesda games will be permanent exclusives either. As far MS actual first party as of now:Here is my take and please hear me out till the end as I am someone who owns both new gen systems.
329 mil?, silly. Meanwhile, MS is spending billions on 1st party studios on top acquiring massive 3rd party publishers/studios AND practically giving insane budgets on new titles that are in the works now.

Ask Microsoft to stop hiding their Xbox division numbers and then you can compare. You got numbers to back that up?
My bad. Its PSN alone lmfao. You can google it if you wishYou got numbers to back that up?
Not bad. You have to go to the PS OT and complain in “secret” about shitposting and how all the great contributors were “run off”didnt take long for xbrats to come shit up the thread, wah wah wah am i doing it right? should i hit the report button like they do? lol
Thats not this year ore last. The spendngs are spread over 7 years, read the article.Pffff... I don't know what is that even supposed to mean.
Is this just paying the bills of titles currently (or formerly) in development such as Demon's Souls, Returnal, Sackboy, Destruction AllStars, Arrowhead's new game, Death Stranding's new version, etc? Or does it mean that they just locked new partnerships for more exclusives since April and that the combined budget appointed to the development of said titles equals $329M?
Fuck these vague-ass financial statements.
They are doing both. They have banked heavily on first party and have third party deals to fill in the gaps along the road as well. Its a smart strategyCould have been invested into first-party instead, like Japan Studio.
Bullshit strategy to moneyhat temporary exclusives, imho.
So the solution is just to stop investing in your existing first-party studios at all? Especially in Japanese ones? Sony ignoring their former power house of a studio doesn't really help their bad situation over there. The thing with Japan Studio is that Sony have let them either willingly or unwillingly (don't know which one would be worse...) degenerate into a support studio that is allowed to do their own little thing from time to time, like Astro Bot.In what way? You can't just dump $100m on a studio and say make more games! There are only so many developers to hire and most studio don't scale well. Typical Hendricks lolThat's a nice way to say money-hat.
If it's not made in house it's not a first party game.First party
No that just means it wasn't made by a first party developerIf it's not made in house it's not a first party game.
