3080 TI COMING IN HOT

Might be a good think I couldn't get a 3080 yet.

I really don't think this is the kind of announcement or presentation that would unveil the 3080 Ti.

I think or would hope that we finally see what all these tensor ops can now do on Ampere. DLSS 3.0? Denoising on the tensor cores for gaming?

If you have $2000 for a GPU, then why not just buy an RTX 3090?

So here's the thing, this is how it is (at least in my country):

My 3080 pre-order: 800 dollars (confirmed price, sadly my TUF order got pushed to early Feb)
A new 3090 order: 2000 dollars
Difference: 1200 dollars..

Now, I'm established and both me and my wife make relatively good money. But please tell me, does 5-10% performance difference for 1200 dollars make any sense whatsoever? It doesn't to me.

Not to me it doesn't but that's a question only you can answer. Admittedly I'm of the mindset that not only is that difference going to be hard to see but in 2 or 3 years there will probably be a "cheap" video card that matches or beats the 2000 one.(IE a 3070 is about as good or better than a 2080 ti) Of course that was more true in the past when video cards where really improving greatly with each gen.(In a 6 year period I went from a 9600gt to a gtx 970 which is something like 20X faster. I guess that's not quite true these days.)

Nvidia needs to stop releasing cards they can’t produce.

this is the 5th 3xxx and all of them have been and are scalped to hell with no end in sight.

I really don't think it'll be about a card unveilling. 3080 Ti are rumored to be in available in the end of february/early march. What would announcing it 1 month and a half before release do? It would just prepare scalpers.

Thats what im thinking. Hopefully they announce Half Life 1 RTX or Deus Ex 1 RTX. After Quake 2 they said they set up a studio dedicated for things like this, you would expect something since then

Maybe not but there where those rumors about he 20gb 3080 and rumours that a card was going to launch in january before this event was announced.

Bring on the 3080Ti. Although it’s probably a smarter move to keep my 3080. There’s not much room between the 3080 and 3090 already, other than VRAM. And I’d be shocked if the 3080 has VRAM issues before the 40xx series drops.

3dcenter’s final compilation, now including the 6900 XT as being normalized (100%)

From Reddit :

3080 is king relative to it's price and aggregation of results overall (considering this is just rasterization, nor VR, nor RT, not DLSS, not NVENC..) 👑

EVGA came through...

I finally got my email today, after believing that it would never actually happen. I now have one order placed for an EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra. Finally, my long quest is at an end. It's a goddamned Christmas miracle!

At this point I don't even care if Nvidia announces the 3080 Ti next week because I'm just glad I finally have a fucking video card on order. I guess the up side of all this waiting has been that Cyberpunk is now on patch 1.05 and there might be another patch or two before I finally get my video card and can begin playing.

When did you sign up to be notified about the RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming? I signed up on October 5th and was notified on November 9th; I received the card on November 11th.

Oh no, don't do that to Ilien and Ascend. Not in rasterization performance. So very sad.

Strange how when you properly present a large data set, all the memes about "Big Navi is better at 1080p and 1440p" just kind of vanish into the ether. The Ampere wins across the board at all resolutions and all price points, with the possible exception of the 3090 which costs 50% more than the 6900XT for about 4% more performance. Not only does Ampere win in traditional rasterization, but it also has much superior RT and it also has a feature AMD simply cannot match in DLSS and you can't fake your way to similar quality to DLSS with a sharpening filter.

There is nothing the AMD line is better for except making you feel better about yourself for supporting the company with a lower share price and market cap and who fucking gives a shit about that if you're a real gamer who just care about getting the best value product for your money? If you're playing Cyberpunk and you bought Big Navi instead of Ampere, how stupid must you feel to have paid the same money and gotten no RT support at game launch (and no promises it will work even half as good as Nvidia's RT when it's added) and no DLSS to help your frame rate out, especially when pushing 4K resolution?

I signed up on October 8th. The queue was reportedly extremely front loaded, but damn it really took more than a month and a half to get from the October 5th sign ups to the October 8th sign ups. Supply constraints are just so insane for these products.

I have to say this is getting scary. Month ago when i got mine 3080 it looked like situation is improving and avability was getting better. Since they average selling price got aound 100 euro higher and people still buy them on the spot for like 1200 euro.

This may sound harsh, but this is the factual truth. There is literally nothing where big navy is better. Not one aspect. Calling this factual, data backed truth as it is makes AMD fans calling you an nvidia shill. They then proceed to hand pick singular aspects from outlier articles to show some skewed results. Why would anyone be a "fan" of some company by default instead of buying what makes the most sense at that particular point in time ?

Ok need an advise.
In Canada the 3090 ftw3 is 2700$ Canadian after tax ( which Is the official price for it same as US price after considering the currency difference )

some guy is selling less than 3 weeks old card ( I know the guy, trust worthy and not used for mining or OC ) . Offering me the card for 2000$.

So now 3 things I am looking at

1- the official price for ftw 3 is 1250$ after tax assuming it can be found . It’s a unicorn like most 3080s . However, people are selling their cards for 1500 and 1600$ at least for the same model

2- the 3090 for 2000$ isn’t bad price considering I can sell it later for the same price if not more (700$ Price difference is Too big IMO )

3- I wouldn’t have to worry about a 3080ti and killing the 3080 in terms of price or at least feel like I got fucked with 10gig if I decided to get one now . Even if someone comes to me with an argument that 10 gig is enough . The fact there is a 20 gig version for lil more than what I paid for if I to get 3080 now feels like betrayal to me.

Now my questions to gaffers . Should I get that 3090 ( which my heart says do it do it fucking do it bill burr style )

my mind is like .. 700$ between official price of 3080 and 3090 is too much for 15% gain in performance and more vram

What do gaffers think ?

But but but... I don't know, energy consumption! Also, there are a lot of old games in these benchmarks. In newer games, the 6800XT beats the 3080! So it's a better investment for the future. Outside of future games with raytracing of course.
Also, DLSS is basically just TAA and Fidelity FX is better. Raytracing is a waste of resources, using reshade has bigger visual impacts.
And a 6800XT is 50 bucks cheaper! You heard it, 50 bucks!

Therefore - AMD all the way.

Edit to avoid confusion: it's a parody.

Please .... just stop. The card lost the battle the minute they didn’t release anything close to dlss . Period

your only winning point of the argument is 16 gig vs 10. Go with that let’s see where it will lead you .

I hope you realize it was a joke post, a parody of all the stupid arguments by AMD fanbois.

- There isn't even the tiniest of actual evidence 10GB DDR6X won't be enough (for playing games) throughout its lifetime. I'm so tired of these repeated notions without anything remotely tangible attached..

-The 3090 has shit performance for price value. Period. And you'll not always get 15%, we're often talking about 5-10%. And if a "cheap" Ti will kill the 3080 then it will violently murder the 3090..

- Go for it if you feel excited, life's short anyway.

The 3080Ti will very likely be sold for 1200 us dollars. Thats not an enticing offer. Vast majority will still buy the regular 3080, especially considering the performance will be pretty much the same, outside of vram amount.

Good thing I didn't bother.

As I've said in the other thread, don't take it that seriously. You've stated that you openly dislike Nvidia in one of our discussions, so I directed a joke / little dig at you. In the end of the day it's just GPUs. Don't be so invested in it.

I'm always open to an honest conversation and what I've said is true.

I'm kinda tempted to put my 3080 up for sale and get a Ti, even though I don't really feel I need it, but with my luck, I'll be waiting for three months before I can get my hands on another card.

Why are people talking about 3080 Ti as if anyone really waiting for it?

3080 < 3090 = + ~10%
3070 < 3080 = + ~25%

So people dream about + ~5% faster card for $1000? Really?
If anything 3070 Ti is what people should expect.

Was there a driver update that now makes the fans spin up pretty fast when starting a game but then settle back down after a few seconds? I've only noticed it over the last couple days, 3090 by the way.
