So apparently Cyberpunk 2077 does not have a toggle option for Quality/Performance on the PS5

it's an absolute travesty. things are gonna get ugly if this is how a great % of the fanbase is playing the game

Those animations are really dissapointing I expected some procedural ones not prescripted like this (you can see when someone dies, it move his head and torso back, as if he would getting shot to the head)...damn. Not the mention really un-interactive and strange behavior all around.

I understood the CA hate in say, Bloodborne; but this is a Cyberpunk game. Hell I think the inspiration for the effect came from Blade Runner, lol.

It's not like these movies had CA though. Maybe for some background billboards or a few scenes and shit, but not for the entirety of the film and on every object and character.

Jeeeeesuss.... and people had the gall to say they're next to ND/Rockstar after Witcher 3. Thanks for the Beta test.
Those studios make console games. I'd argue this is pretty firmly a PC game that bit off way more than consoles could chew, and you don't want to be playing on consoles if you can possibly avoid it. That doesn't excuse selling people a product that is clearly flawed, but it's a demonstration of where the rubber meets the road in regards to people becoming very accustomed to consoles getting relatively preferential treatment. Some have compared this to Crysis, and that analogy probably holds up in a few ways both past and present.

I bet the ps4pro version running on the ps5 will have better average fps than the xbox one x version running on the xbox series x if that's how they will work due to the ps4pro version likely having lower resolution and settings than the xbox one x version.

I've tried both on all games I own. Spiderman, Valhalla(XSX), Demon's, and the fidelity modes are so terrible. I suggest starting in 30fps mode and never trying 60 because that is the only way it's possible. I was not a snob until this gen, lol
Yeah the raytracing in Spider-man is very nice in stills but in motion at 30fps it looses some of its charm. I knew once I tried the 60fps mode I would never go back and sure enough that's exactly what happened. I'm glad the performance mode is the mode they chose for the PS5 back-compat if there could only be one. I'm sure the actual PS5 version coming out in 2021 will have multiple settings.

Was always going with X1X version on Series X, it was always going to be the best console version at launch. No surprise here, One X was a beast of a console.

People with a PS5/SX are actually going to waste this game by playing the last-gen version? Are you mad? After nearly a decade in development, I'm not touching this game without a 3080 or 3080Ti.
I was lucky enough to get a PS5, and till the time I can upgrade my GPU to a 3080, the true next gen version for consoles will already exist.

There is no way in hell I'd play this in 30fps on ps5.. I mean it's first person. You're asking for trouble.

I am so greatful is even managed to have 60fps day one on ps5. Bravo to cd red for that.

Still sucks it won't have a quality mode though for those who would want that for some reason

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I'd imagine the default mode is a uncapped 60fps mode and performance is kinda locked 60fps with visual downgrades
IE, performance mode is useless on Next-Gen consoles?

So, the PS5 is running this game in BC, as a PS4 Pro.

Because there is no native next-gen console version yet.

bad guy

as bad as Danny Zuko in gym knickers
So if I want RT I might just play it on GeForce now?
Currently yes RT only with nvidia RTX cards. Maybe Stadia too, not sure.

Sony believes in generations. Too bad it's last generation for now.

I think people are already saying it's a higher resolution on Xbox and as I've got VRR I'll get the best console experience 😎
Yeah I do reckon you will get a higher resolution on the XSX, but I have a feeling the PS5 will have less frame drops, in fact I’m pretty sure it will.

It is a brand new game made with the PS5 in mind, so it won't have an artificial low resolution on PS5 like older unpatched games

OTOH: According to DF, Witcher3 used a very good Checkerboarding implementation on PS4Pro for higher resolution. If they do it on Cyberpunk PS5 too, they could even reach an higher resolution than on XSX.

Anyway, today the embargos get lifted and tomorrow everyone will be able to see it for themself.

Whats resolution on ps5 in this backward compatibility mode ? I hope it's not 1080p (I'm watchi stream now, very underwhelming graphics on console version)

So, no performance/fidelity mode toggle when playing on an actual PS4 Pro? Because if the Pro has the toggle and the PS5 doesn't, wouldn't that mean the PS5's BC is running it in base PS4 mode? In The Road to PS5 video, they did state that PS5 has 3 levels of BC.....base/Pro/PS5 native.

The game is running at 60fps on PS5, but there is not Toogle. So no PS4 settings.

I think it’s a safe bet the PS4 SDK recognises a PS5 and allows for a 3rd profile. Ghosts of Tsushima and Days gone are rock solid 60 on PS5 yet have no framerate unlocks on PS4 sku’s.

This new game would take advantage.

That's where I'm at too. I still can't get a 3090 for the life of me, so I thought I'd go with the PS5 version and get it for PC during a sale next year. Then I saw that the PS5 and X/S versions aren't being released until next year. I can wait.

And I can't be the only one thinking about buggy games bricking consoles a la Anthem either. Someone else can try it out on console and let me know.

60fps all that matters.

Ps5 is a Rasterization Beast so i´m fine if Devs are pushing Rasterization into the limit at 60fps, next gen we can fully move to RTX Only but for now, do it for GI & Shadows only and leave space for 60fps.

It has three paths (each with lots of sub paths given decisions you can make along the way) and two DLC expansions planned. I‘ll experience it now and avoid being spoiled and do a replay on a different path and the DLC when the next gen upgrade is out.

Certainly nothing wrong with waiting for people who want to experience the first time with the next gen version. I mostly play these kind of games for the story, characters and questing so I’m less fussed about the graphics. More words/annoyed by all the bugs being reported. But still would rather play at launch and not risk being spoiled before I play.

Regardless of what console you get this on. They will share similar performance metrics (PS5:XSX). One version may have a cunt hair more FPS/Resolution, but who really cares? The gap between the two consoles is minuscule, as we've seen in past comparison videos.

I suppose I could have worded that more clearly. I'm not really concerted about resolution and FPS, more so things like the XSX version to have the performance/resolution toggle and the PS5 not, early reports of PS5 version crashing and would like to know if that's more common than on XSX as I know BC is better/smoother on Xbox than PS5 right now. And in general I've had some crashes on PS5 and zero issues with XSX.

Typing all that out, I'll probably just go with XSX. Only current draw back is having to use wired headphones plugged into the controller as my Sony Gold's don't work with Xbox and the Steelseries Arctis 7x I want to replace them with is sold out everywhere. Sound quality with the Dolby Atmos for Headphones app and my old Sony MDR-XB950 headphones sound pretty damn good that way, despite the headphones being nothing special (I'm not an audiophile anyway). The cord just gets annoying and I'm sure the sound would be even better with a virtual surround capable headset rather than a stereo one.

So I'll just keep an eye out for user impressions of the PS5 and XSX versions the next couple of days and likely buy the XSX version unless something pushes me to the PS5 version Friday afternoon and get it downloaded and updated to binge this weekend.

I think I'm going for XsX... It is BC of a version optimized for more powerful gear than ps4pro so it seems like a better idea... Seeing reports of people playing on the xbox with zero issues. Not gonna matter in the long run anyway but I can't believe there are no real tech analysis videos pre-release, damn #FirstWorldProblems
